That will be special. Especially because we will be making the Super Bowl in 2016 (as well as every year subsequent to that).

Cleveland is not a tourist destination like the other cold weather cities that are hosting SBs. I could only see it if the league decides “damn it, since we said yes to New Jersey we have to play fair with other cold weather cities and give them all a chance”

Cleveland will also have atleast 1 newer casino at that point which would increase the hotels/restaurants in the area and could be a draw. As much as people try to play down Cleveland I would take it over Detroit, Chicago, or even NYC. Been to all 3 and couldnt wait to get home.

There are already a number of hotels being built downtown and in the surrounding area. We already have world-class restaurants downtown as well.

I agree. Our downtown, while not as large as some other cities, is pretty good. I havent been to any of Michael Symons restaurants yet but ive heard some amazing things.

I would want that so very bad. I would love to have Super Bowl Village within a short driving distance. I still think that’d be incredibly unlikely though. We can hope.

The picture of Lloyd peeking out of the limo would be fitting here.

i always said if the browns were in the superbowl, i would be in cleveland watching the game at a bar with my father and browns fan brethren. if the browns were in cleveland’s superbowl, my plans will be unchanged.

if the browns were in cleveland’s superbowl

That’d be a dream come true.

I was just commenting to a friend that we always seem to have decent weather on Superbowl Sunday. I spend most of the day outside tending the grill.

There was a great article in Sports Illustrated’s Super Bowl preview issue last week about “the first Super Bowl” in 1906 between Canton and Massillon. If the NFL is indeed looking for one of the founding cities for the ‘16 game, I think Cleveland needs to play “coming back to the birthplace” angle hard. The season could start (hall of fame game) and end in NE Ohio. The whole NFL season’s theme would be “The Origins”.

If we ever have a shot, I think that’ll be it.

As nice as it sounds, It’s not going to happen. The NFL and their sponsors hate on Cleveland far too much for us to earn any kind of reward like the site of a Super Bowl game.

If we happen to be winning consistently enough by then, they’ll change their tune. Winning makes everyone like you.

That would be awesome, but can you imagine the complaining we’re going to be hearing from the warm weather team that inevitably makes it when they’re playing in a February snow storm? How cool would it be, though, to see a blizzard during the Super Bowl? Now that’s what football is all about.

It won’t be the warm weather team complaints as much as the corporate bazillionaires who expect the Super Bowl to be their own private Mardi Gras.

Hmm, maybe you’ve forgotten that little thing called Red Right 88 where we played that warm weather team, the Oakland Raiders, in 4 degree weather. Didn’t turn out well at all.
