"The Sunday Five" is a loosely-titled piece where I talk about five NFL- or Browns-related topics related to this past week. In today's edition, we mostly talk about a few topics related to Super Bowl XLVI.
I didn't have my Super Bowl pick made heading into Sunday, and as of this post, I still don't have a definitive prediction. Both teams seem so evenly matched to me. Each quarterback already has at least one Super Bowl ring on their belt, they have tight ends or wide receivers who are among the best in the league, and their kickers have proven they can come through in the clutch. The Giants seem to have the advantage defensively, but a big part of their success as of late has been their defensive line getting pressure. I think the Patriots will have a gameplan to neutralize that, which will be enough for them to squeak out a 28-24 victory.

The bottom line is that the most important part of the Super Bowl weekend is the game itself. The commercials are a close second, though, and are always very topical in the following days. What I can't comprehend is how so many companies would spoil what their commercial is ahead of time, and why viewers try to watch the commercials ahead of time. The one thing I did read awhile back is that The Dark Knight Rises won't have a Super Bowl trailer, which disappoints me. I know there are trailers online, but it's different to see it on live television.
If you haven't done so yet, make sure you follow us on Twitter (DawgsByNature) or Like us on Facebook. There is a small social media team I have put together that is in the beginning stages of making those outlets more active and interactive. In the past, they have really only served as a link dump of stories posted on this site.
Are you a Papa John's Rewards member? If not, then it's definitely worth it to take a couple of minutes to sign up now. They ran a poll the past few weeks asking if the coin toss for today's game would land as "Heads" or "Tails." With a 60% vote, fans selected "Heads." That means that if the coin toss is correct tonight, every Papa John's Rewards member will have their account credited with a free large one-topping pizza and two-liter Pepsi Max. You'd have a 50/50 chance at getting free pizza and pop just by signing up; sounds like a great deal to me!
If anyone missed it earlier in the week, I want to highlight the article that Cleveland Scene published on Browns owner Randy Lerner. I know we are still early into 2012, but it was one of my favorite reads of the year. I know that Lerner seldom speaks to the media and Mike Holmgren cut back this past season, but I really think the both of them should have a bigger presence in the future, something I don't think would be construed as undermining Pat Shurmur's role as the team's head coach.

I really don’t like Papa John’s pizza nor the awful taste of aspartame in Pepsi Max, but I get the appeal of free food.
Jon @ DBN - February 5, 2012
I can’t eat pizza or anything with tomato sauce. It makes me vomit for some reason.
If people knew what Aspartame actually is they wouldn’t put it in their bodies. It sickens me that the FDA allows it’s production.

Wast he a coach for the Tribe in the 70’s?

Coach Vomit?

If people knew a lot of things, everyone would grow their own food.
Facts of life, live with it.

I have the same issue with red sauce.

That’s just the tequila talking.

I am not a fan of Papa John’s but Papa John’s>>>Pizza Hut, Papa John’s>>>>Domino’s, Papa John’s>>>>>>>>Little Ceasar’s

Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, and Domino’s are all garbage. I wouldn’t eat that trash unless I was starving. Little Caesar’s on the other hand is decent when considering the $5 price tag. In summary, most major national pizza chains suck.
Jon @ DBN - February 5, 2012
That’s the only reason to ever by Little Ceasar’s is the price and even then I’d almost rather go hungry.
bross09 - February 5, 2012
Little Caesar’s is the best considering what you’re receiving for the price
SpecialBrownie - February 6, 2012
Absolutely.

I signed up for Papa Johns yesterday. Only time I will ever endorse eating their crappy food.
Also, the two Honda commercials that are going to be on tonight are straight hilarious. Definitely making a comeback.

Just so people know, just having an account isn’t the rewards thing, although if you have a papa johns account all you have to do is click on the rewards and you’re in.

Football is a game of match-ups, so lets compare the advantages…
Position Advantage
QB- Patriots
O-Line- Patriots
RB- Giants
WR- Giants
TE- Patriots
D-Line- Giants
LB- Giants
DB- Patriots
K- Patriots
P- Giants
Returners- Giants
Giants have more advantages than Patriots. Can good Defense beat Great Offense? My pick Giants 38-35.

Chris, thanks for the link to the Cleveland Scene article on Randy Lerner. Definitely a good read.
