Indeed. How many times do we need to say this? We need five pro-bowl linemen and a pro-bowl RB along with at least one pro-bowl WR before we should even think about drafting a QB. A QB has no chance of success in Cleveland without all those things.
Really? All I ever wanted was a decent o line thats not wasting the team money , a decent set of running backs and a decent set of WR’s. Right now we are lucky to have half of each. You get us those, then QB can suceed anywhere. Anything more is a bonus.
In the article he is referring to the blueprint being: barely make the playoffs after a season of underachieving.
It was not an argument about personnel. In fact, he acknowledges and gives the Giants credit for that:
Can any team do what they did? Sure thing. Just so long as it has an elite quarterback, a Super Bowl-winning coach, a dominant four-man pass rush and the most underrated receiving corps in the league.
Oh, and recent Super Bowl experience.
The quarterback should also be able to direct seven game-winning drives as Eli Manning did. And it doesn’t hurt if the Super Bowl opponent didn’t beat a team with a .500 record until the AFC Championship game, as New England did in a narrow and fortunate defeat of Baltimore.
Which the deciding factor was again the defense. The Giants D really won the game for New York. Without them smothering Brady almost the entire game, New Englands fast break Offense would have taken it.
thank you for taking my suggestion and not linking to dawg pound daily. it really shows you guys care about your faithful readership!

Jon @ DBN - February 10, 2012
you are now aware that your d drive is scared shitless
pwndabear - February 10, 2012
The PD is really missing Grossi…or at least his replacement.
Red-Right-88 - February 10, 2012
Is it crazy that the only big money FA I really want is Stanford Routt? Likely? No. Fun? Yes.
Legoman0721 - February 10, 2012 via Android app
I’ll really like it if it means we don’t draft Claiborne at #4.
Jon @ DBN - February 10, 2012
There are better FA corners than Routt. Brent Grimes.
Roger Dorn - February 10, 2012
Love Grimes.
Bernie19Kosar - February 10, 2012
I’d like to get either one of them but I dont want to break the bank on either.
J. W. - February 10, 2012
I would pay big money for Grimes. I think he is one of the best CB’s in the NFC.
Bernie19Kosar - February 11, 2012
I hadn’t thought of him. That would be good too. I haven’t watched Grimes (except when Hillis hurdled him), what are his strengths?
Legoman0721 - February 10, 2012 via Android app
Really good short area burst. Quick.
rufio - February 11, 2012
Based off what you stated here, I would say that running underneath ball carriers is one.
JustBob - February 12, 2012
It takes great skill and timing to run under a rhino.
Brownie's Year - February 12, 2012
This. We won’t get him. Of course maybe one of these guys will want to play with Haden
HenryDawg - February 10, 2012
Bud Shaw thinks the Giants blueprint of having an elite QB coupled with a dominating pass rush isn’t the right blueprint?
Roger Dorn - February 10, 2012
Well when has that ever worked?
nickjs21 - February 10, 2012
eli is elite? just because you’ve won the superbowl twice doesnt mean you’re elite.
pwndabear - February 10, 2012
sigh
Red-Right-88 - February 10, 2012
I am sure there is a debate going on, but in my opinion elite.
Roger Dorn - February 10, 2012
Oh I think he’s currently in the upper tier, and I’ve been a huge Eli critic his whole career.
nickjs21 - February 10, 2012 via Android app
He talked a big game before this year began, and in my opinion he’s backed it up.
rufio - February 11, 2012
He called it. Proved it. He’s a first time ballot.
Brownie's Year - February 11, 2012
yes, he had an incredible season
bross09 - February 11, 2012
Don’t you know that us cold weather cities have to run the ball!?

If it was as easy as just wanting it we would have it.
HenryDawg - February 10, 2012
Put a great QB behind center and you automatically have all of those things.

Jon @ DBN - February 10, 2012
Haha, you got me. I didn’t read it. Don’t see how records indicate a blueprint though. Player personnel is a blueprint.
Roger Dorn - February 10, 2012
Yes, I don’t think anyone PLANS to barely make the playoffs, Bud.
nickjs21 - February 10, 2012 via Android app
Except in 2007, they did the same thing without an elite QB and without a Super-Bowl winning coach. So, there’s that.
TheDriveStillHurts - February 10, 2012
That’s a fair point.
Jon @ DBN - February 10, 2012
And in 2007 they beat the most dominant team in recent history.

They were practicing for this year.
HenryDawg - February 10, 2012
Well Bud Shaw has taught me that super bowl winning coaches win super bowls. I never would have thought of that.
rufio - February 11, 2012
im gonna make a suggestion for this daily piece:
rename it Daily Dawg Chow. That way, it’s a daily feature and people won’t feel weird about commenting on it after 12pm every single day like I do.
pwndabear - February 10, 2012
plus Daily Dawg Chow just sounds better.
pwndabear - February 10, 2012
I like it. I’ll definitely take that into consideration.
Jon @ DBN - February 10, 2012
What happened to “Opps All Links?”
Doc's Kid - February 10, 2012
i like this better.
pwndabear - February 10, 2012
That’s awesome
HenryDawg - February 10, 2012
I feel like we might have a new DBN meme here.
Doc's Kid - February 10, 2012
I don’t get it.
Dawg Nuts - February 10, 2012
Me either. Sounds dumb to me.
Brownie's Year - February 10, 2012
Some weird cereal.
SpecialBrownie - February 11, 2012
its been a meme for awhile…
pwndabear - February 11, 2012
Dawg Chow Daily seems to roll of the tongue better.
HenryDawg - February 10, 2012
