When these two teams met in the regular season, the New Orleans Saints blew out the Detroit Lions as the game went on. Both offenses are explosive and I expect this to be a shootout game, as do most people. The Saints just seem like they can move the chains more consistently because they have more weapons -- like Jimmy Graham and Darren Sproles -- to complement their receivers.

North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Booo Hissss, oh ummm Good Pick
champion64 - January 7, 2012
I hope this is a good game.
emily522 - January 7, 2012
I hope there is more defense than the Orange Tigers from SC. played. Sorry Emily, had to take a shot
champion64 - January 7, 2012
The Saints looked like Clemson on that drive.
emily522 - January 7, 2012
Actually the Tigers had more defense than the Saints did on that drive.
champion64 - January 7, 2012
me too, i think with suh back they beat the saints.
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
My money is on Brees.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
How about that Texans’ draft this year. Watt, Reed, and Yates – filthy.
realmccoy - January 7, 2012
Watt was a great pick
champion64 - January 7, 2012
The draft is usually all just Luck.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
lol
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
I see what you did there.
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
LOL
champion64 - January 7, 2012
I hate Cris Collinsworth’s and his stupid face.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I hate Chris Collinsworth and his stupid anecdotes from the Age Before Time.
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
lol
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
He needs to go.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Did you see this waste of a tweet by Grossi…wow…..#Unfollow.
http://mobile.cleveland.com/advcleve/db_/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=9wMNOT9m&full=true#display
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
What’s his twitter name @spraytan or @orangeman?
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I thought it was @fullofcrap or @i’mnotreallytrying
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
@Leatherface
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
WTF team was he watching this year???
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
That’s cute. You actually think Grossi WATCHES the games in order to have an informed opinion.
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
@ifakebakebadly, or @ispraytanreligiously
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
DETROIT ROCK CITY!
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
No butterflies for Stafford.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Ughhhh, enough with the Southwest football commercials.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Heh that commercial had happy Browns fans. Must have caught a rare moment.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I didn’t know they had HDTV cameras in ’64.
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
REC’ed
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
I was wondering what was going on.
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
Does anyone else find some irony in that Bud Light ad with the Browns fan saying, “you gotta go deep,” and then cheering as if the Browns just went deep?
JustBob - January 7, 2012
It was one of the two deep passes we completed. Then we kicked a field goal. They didn’t show that part.
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
It was a McCoy to Cribbs for 14 yards
champion64 - January 7, 2012
The commercial is effective, as it plants the false notion in my head that if I drink more and more of their product I might just be drunk enough to think a blown screen pass for -3 yards/2 yard dink and dunk toss/dropped pass was “going deep.”
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
LOL
champion64 - January 7, 2012
had to be a DA game replay, colt cant throw pass 2 yards apparently. although against cinci he did have that one pass that went an extra 50 yards after being aided by a 40 mph wind.
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
What??? Farve isn’t working with MCoy again already this offseason?
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Too busy making Levi commercials.
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
Wranglers. Pants I wouldn’t let my cats sleep on.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Did anyone inform NO that they are in the playoffs?
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
…smokescreen? I really have no idea.
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
Does this woman in the Cialis commercial has a slight speech impediment???
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Please, the correct nomenclature is Speechtile Disfunction.
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
Right. So sorry.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
That’s the commercial I brought up in the other thread.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
The Cleveland Browns are still #3 in all-time NFL playoff appearances……so I’m not that depressed…yet!
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
And the fact that Stooler little yellow towel bandwagon nation is still #8, makes me smile.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Can I just take this moment to say “f%ck the Steelers.”
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
Rec
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
x2 REC
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
That makes at least three, I reced it as soon as it popped up.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Always
emily522 - January 7, 2012
Damn, that went Green fast. You all were on the ball!
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
any moment is fine, really
Mr. Bad Example - January 7, 2012
Red eyes… that is scary.
emily522 - January 7, 2012
Oh, I’m sorry.
That is scary.emily522 - January 7, 2012
ironic Jets commercial
emily522 - January 7, 2012
How did Detroit score? I was in the shower.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Blazed down the field, short TD pass to their TE Heller.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Nice stop.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Even when Calvin Johnson drops a pass he looks impressive.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
True dat.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I’d sell my soul for a Browns playoff appearance, and the souls of my unborn children for a playoff win. It’s been rough since ’99.
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
And its hard watching playoff games with other teams because it makes us look so far away… ugh.
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
Right. As it has been said, it is like we are playing in another league.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Unfortunately…
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
I don’t know, Detroit was far worse than us a few years ago, and the defensive backfield is still a joke and their O Line is average at best. They basically have a healthy Stafford and Megatron and boom they’re a playoff team. We’re not that far off. Colt came out in pre-season and played a few series looking like Aaron Rodgers and we looked like a playoff team. That’s not the Colt we got during the regular season, but if it was, you’ll be a lot happier next year around this time.
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
Detroit has some issue on D (cough E Wright), but there is a more sizable gap in talent than just Stafford and Johnson.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Where? Their D Line is better (ours isn’t bad but needs another piece or two) but I’m not seeing a lot of other places they’re much better and some places (RB, OL) we’re better.
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
We can play the position by position game, but at the end of the day the Lions went from GD awful to a playoff team in 3 years. Do I see Holgrem/Heckert getting us to the post season in 2 years? Hell no. Hope I am wrong, of course.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
I definitely see progress. Just the drafts alone are proof of that. I just think we should ho down on goals like playoffs and enjoy the games as much as possible until all the talent is in place. Unfortunately we play in a division with 3 playoff teams. This year we lost to all of them. But all of them except one we were competitive. That’s against teams with established coaches and/or players. We don’t have a lot of that yet.
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
Well, I hope we can make a turnaround too. I agree Detroit’s DBs are terrible.
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
DREAM SCENARIO. Reprise of my post on 1st game thread…."Hou wins [done], Tebow Tebow’s the Steelers. Hou beats Balt, Tebow Tebow’s the Pats, then Tebow get’s Tebowed by Hou in AFC Champ game.
Who is with me?
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Fat Fairley sucks.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
hell yes
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Who?

Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
REC!
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
“Here’s me! Here’s you! Here’s me! Here’s you!”
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Uncle Phil.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
He has Nick and Phil mixed up.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Yup. That’s what I figured. Uncle Phil doesn’t suck. ;) Despite what Rocland says.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Damn Sproles is fast.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
He need to score some points for the DBN playoff league. I picked Bress, Sproles, and Colston.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
There you go.
emily522 - January 7, 2012
:P
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
TD!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
That was a great open field tackle
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Who was Detroit starting RB? The guy that Smith replaced?
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Best?
emily522 - January 7, 2012
Morris?
emily522 - January 7, 2012
I believe you’re right on both names.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
some guy named sanders, that can never be replaced
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
Best RB ever
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Jim Brown.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Sorry. Sanders is my favorite RB. JB is a douchebag.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
who beats his wife
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
He’s a douche, but he’s also the best there is.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
talent wise, i think barry had jim. barry was only a couple k short of walters record, and he only played for what…9 seasons??
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
Barry got screwed over.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
You are insane. Jim Brown was not only the best RB he was the best Football player to ever play the game. Not even close. Barry was at best 2nd
champion64 - January 7, 2012
ok, based on??
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
Based on 105 yards a game rushing, Barry Sanders 99 yards per game, Jim Brown 5.2 yards per carry Barry Sanders 4.9 Brown had 106 touchdowns , Barry Sanders 99, Jim Brown did all this in 118 games, Barry Sanders 153 games.
champion64 - January 7, 2012
And when Brown played the offensive lineman could not extend their arms or put their hands on the defensive lineman, they had to keep their hands against their chest and block with their forearms. WHO COULD BLOCK LIKE THAT NOW
champion64 - January 7, 2012
Barry played 10 seasons
champion64 - January 7, 2012
barry also amassed more yards than jim correct? and did most of that on his own. jim had a line, barry didnt. oh, and i was one season off. jim played 12 didnt he?
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
9
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
How about instead of tussling about it, amass a top five? Throw in Payton?
The New Kardiac Kids - January 7, 2012
By far they are 1a and 1b but Brown is the a.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
1. barry, 2. brown, 3.payton, 4.smith, 5. dickerson
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
Now how about Sayers and Walker?
The New Kardiac Kids - January 7, 2012
definitely top ten but not top five, sayers would fall right into 6
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
I like your list but Brown played 9 seasons and was a nine time pro-bowler.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 7, 2012
Also, had Jim had as many carries as Barry, he would have had 694 more yards than Barry.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Jim Brown also played 9 seasons and played 2 less games a season for 5 years, and 4 less for 4 years. Same amount of carries per game, less career ypc, less career ypg, less tds, he just played in more games.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
link and link
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
ok, so im a little off on the years of tenure. i still believe barry was better.
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
Also Brown played when there was no hip or thigh pads, and the defenses knew he was running the ball. He was the Full back so he had a half back blocking for him, unlike now when you have a 250 – 260 pound full back blocking for the half backs like Sanders. There is no comparison. Plus Brown had 2,500 yards receiving on 262 receptions, Sanders 2,900 on 352 receptions, so Brown did more with the ball when it was in his hands than anyone in the back field
champion64 - January 7, 2012
They would key two linebackers on him. He never missed a game in 9 years.
champion64 - January 7, 2012
you are all just browns homers, every last one of ya!
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
DAMN STRAIGHT
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
we dont use the subject line here at DBN!
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
Bold italics Come at me bro.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
ummmm…….ummmmmm…….fine! screw you guys, im goin home!! lol
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
Heh
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
i was tryin to copy and paste a pic of cartman from my girlfriends mac, but cant get it to work. would have been funnier with the pic
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
hell of a catch
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
We seriously need a Megatron.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
We serious need playmakers/gamechangers on offense at all. At this point, I don’t care if it is the QB, WR, RB, or TE. Our offense is abysmal.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
I’d settle for a Starscream.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
REC’ed!!!
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
id settle for ice cream!
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
Starscream is the most underrated robot in that story. He’s badass and doesn’t get enough face time.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
yeah but he was useless as hell back in the cartoons
Mr. Bad Example - January 7, 2012
He’s Megatrons Bitch.
macdowellm03 - January 8, 2012
Our luck we will get f%cking Bumblebee.
Off-the-Chain - January 7, 2012
We’ll get the bootleg Autobot that was the same as bumblebee but red – can’t remember his name…
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
our luck we’ll get any one of the go-bots… /shudder…
Mr. Bad Example - January 7, 2012
OH NOES!
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
They’ve said twice that Suh stomped on a Saints player. It was a Packer player.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
C’mon Bress/Colston. Get me some points.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
did he think of that abomination all by himself? the overtime rules are fine…
Mr. Bad Example - January 7, 2012
Tentative runback
The New Kardiac Kids - January 7, 2012
Not that run tho
The New Kardiac Kids - January 7, 2012
wow, how wide open could he be…
Mr. Bad Example - January 7, 2012
Calviin Johnson is the all time beast WR. If he ever leaves Det Stafford will be lost. All those jump balls and lobs turn into INTs when thrown to mortals.
realmccoy - January 7, 2012
He is the clear #1 WR in the NFL. Hands down.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Still a game….
The New Kardiac Kids - January 7, 2012
good game
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Much better than the first game.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 7, 2012
I don’t know, the 1st game was a really close game until the third.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Still more watchable than most CLE games this year.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
OOF.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 7, 2012
No Jimmy, no.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
lols at Bushrod.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
i had a great-great-great grandfather whos first name was bushrod!
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
That’s a seriously manly name.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Totally
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
yeah, he was from the backwoods of west virginia
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
Did he ever run into Davey Crockett?
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
i think he ate him. he was a big boy. both he and my grand father were like 6ft 6in tall
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
That’s like the third ball this game that’s went right through someones hands that even I could have caught.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Sproles is sick
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
That blocking was sick.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Maybe a slight hold but not sure it would have mattered.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Holding happens on most plays anyway and never gets called unless it’s blatant and obvious. The ones that get me are the calls where holding actually didn’t happen.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Ditto.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
We will get LaMichael James next year at RB – he is as fast as Sproles.
realmccoy - January 7, 2012
Sick and Quick….
The New Kardiac Kids - January 7, 2012
Game over.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Megatron says otherwise. Or at least he’s trying to.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Brees>Chad
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Chad?
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Sorry, Calvin.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
They just scored as many points in half of the 4th quarter as we average in 2 games. But they were down like us, they sucked. Payton and Breese turned them around.
realmccoy - January 7, 2012
Too bad we have Shurmer and McCoy.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Teams like the Saints and to a lesser extent, the Lions and 9ers, give me hope for the future. Even though they play in the inferior Conference.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I hear you, but it is hard not to be skeptical after 13 year of futility. Faith and threats (“You are with us or against us”) aren’t a replacement for actual success/wins. Show me don’t tell me Mike and Tom.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
I also look at our D (minus our atrocious run D), see how good it is, then I think about the fact that Heckert put both of last years draft stock into the D, and it makes me think: What will happen when he focuses on the offense.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
D
I agree that they need to show it, but what are you expecting to see? The playoffs in just a year with the team we had? They’re building a foundation which hasn’t been done here since the 60s. Everyone just needs to STFU for a couple years and let them do their thing. I can’t believe they have to go so defensive so quickly and I doubt they had that in GB or SEA probably because they trusted them to bring them results, but maybe they knew it wouldn’t happen overnight.
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
It comes down to a question of faith. You believe that Holgrem/Hecket will deliver. I hope you are right. I am not yet convinced given the history of the new Browns and the first two years of this administration. You know what will convince me? Wins. Period. Not promises or admonishments from H/H or their Kool-Aid drinkers.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
That’s like someone who sleeps all day and doesn’t take a job or go to college playing the lottery to hope they end up rich. You got to sacrifice and suffer a little to get where you want to be. I know Browns fans have suffered more than anyone else, but that’s a pitiful excuse. That’s the homeless guy being dealt a bad hand thinking they’ve deserved wins. Wins come from building a team over a period of time, with all the pain that goes with it. Stop looking at wins and losses and look at what they’re building and when you least expect it, it will all come together.
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
Good night Detroit.
