Our first wildcard game of the weekend is the one that seems most like a regular-season game to me as the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Houston Texans. Which one of these unproven quarterbacks will be able to pick up a postseason win? I think the Texans' running game will be too difficult for Cincinnati to stop all game long, and the Bengals have struggled to beat postseason-caliber teams.

First? Or only??
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
I’m always here
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Here, although I’m multitasking.
emily522 - January 7, 2012
Multitasking as well. Some shit went down at my house last night and I’ve been talking to people on the phone all morning trying to figure out what happened. It looks like bi-polar people are no longer welcome here. I don’t need guest walking on eggshells to appease others.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
That sucks.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Chick fight. One friend who isn’t allowed over anymore.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
guests* plural
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
The NFL needs to implement a quality weight on wildcard team wins so teams like the Bungles don’t make the playoffs because they were fortunate enough to play us twice this season.
tribe71 - January 7, 2012
Pretty sure they do when it comes to ties. I think it’s Record>SoS>head to head. Not sure though.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Forgot hou got a win from us too this year.
tribe71 - January 7, 2012
Who do we want to win here?
Kaner - January 7, 2012
Bungles I suppose. But I want Pittspuke to have to go to N.E. next week if they win rather than Balt, so tough call.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Everybody who isn’t in AFC North.
tribe71 - January 7, 2012
The NFC.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Looks like this game will be as exciting as Murmur.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Wow a screen that actually worked.
Kaner - January 7, 2012
That was a nice play.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Kosar on the key block on TD run?? Thought I was hearing things…
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
My dog does good thib.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Talk about multitasking.
Kaner - January 7, 2012
Landry Jones returning to Sooners….good. One less mistake we can make.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
We’ll see how he does next year. He could mature and be pretty decent.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Jeff Garcia is on the Texans?
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
OK announced already that Irsay said the Colts will select Luck with the first pick. We all knew that but unless he is trying to get more value with trades, I am suspecting they are going to and we will have to look elsewhere for our 1st pick. Well it was a nice dream.
champion64 - January 7, 2012
SMOKESCREEN!!!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
OK, we got a game here now!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
It is so novel to see a team I am rooting for score a TD in the first Quarter.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
I didnt know they were allowed to do that
champion64 - January 7, 2012
and to see a ball actually caught
'thedrive'ruinedmy9thbirthday - January 7, 2012 via Android app
unpossible
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Inconceivable!
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Srly tho – watching good football teams is so much less painful than Browns football, on a number of levels.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
oh, i get it, you catch the ball, what a concept!
athensdawg - January 7, 2012
LOL, both hands even
champion64 - January 7, 2012
I think that’s a bad spot. He got stuffed.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
And they made up for it with a phantom false start.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
politics
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Why not mortgage our future for Luck? Because the past since ’99 has been so great, right?
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Because mortgaging 2008 for Quinn worked out so well…
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Luck is not Quinn
champion64 - January 7, 2012
Luck is also not Peyton Manning. He could go either way once he’s in the league.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I will bet he is better than Quinn. Do you like McCoy?
champion64 - January 7, 2012
Saying he’s better than a complete bust isn’t saying much.
As far as McCoy goes: I think he’s a hell of a lot better than you give him credit for. You tend to overly exaggerate his shortcomings(ex. He’s under 6’ tall, he has too many batted balls, he can’t see over linemen etc). I think at worst he’s an above average backup in this league He’s playing at the same level if not slightly better than a 9 year career backup/spot starter in his second year. I’m not sold on McCoy as a long term starter but yes I definitely like him.
None of this though has to do with the above discussion of I’d rather not sell out the future chasing a question mark. I’d rather sit tight and see what falls to us. I would be happy with Blackmon. Look at who McCoy had to throw to. His most talented receivers were someone who hadn’t played in a year, after converting from RB in Little and Ben Watson. Not many options on where to go to with the ball.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I dont think many would agree that he is an above average quarterback in the league.
champion64 - January 7, 2012
You skipped a word in there.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
semanticsBernie19Kosar - January 7, 2012
Heh.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
They make anti-virus software right?
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
he said “above average backup”…
athensdawg - January 7, 2012
Thanks.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
You are correct, I did misread it and I agree I would keep him as a back up, unless someone would offer a 5th round pick for him or better and if I selected a quarterback he would be gone WHICH i believe will happen
champion64 - January 7, 2012
I wouldn’t let him go for less than a 4th.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Only because no one will give us anything for Wallace. I do think McCoy is better than Wallace
champion64 - January 7, 2012
If we draft a QB look for Wallace to be cut.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Unless we can trade McCoy. I agree if we draft RG3 or Luck (I know we wont get Luck) I think we will keep McCoy if we dont get a good draft pick for him and then trade Wallace or cut him.
champion64 - January 7, 2012
What did we get rid of for Wallace? Wasn’t it like a 5th-6th? We won’t get crap for him. Who do you choose to keep as a backup, the one who’s already hit his ceiling and is 10 years in or the 3rd year QB that could still improve? That’s why I say we end up cutting Wallace.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I would want McCoy as the back up IF we draft a starter.
champion64 - January 7, 2012
Never thought I would see those words coming from you. Heh.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I dont hate him.
champion64 - January 7, 2012
Gotta have a good back up or as Houstons showing us, 2 of them.
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
If you were drafting, that 5th would be our only other pick for the next 2 years.
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
2014 browns and colt vs. Broncos and Quinn afc championship.
tribe71 - January 7, 2012
Is that the Wing Bowl?
champion64 - January 7, 2012
It’s gonna be the end of the world here when Quinn beats the Steelers tomorrow.
Bernie19Kosar - January 7, 2012
2012
emily522 - January 7, 2012
Are you kidding me? I’ll be running up and down the streets screaming either “Brady motherfuckin Quinn again!” or “How bout them Steelers?!” May even sing their atrocious super bowl song.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
The LG telling the C when to snap is cracking me up.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
DUDE!! I was thinking the same thing. Saw it this morning in the North Dakota State game. Makes me laugh also.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Like yeah, the D isn’t going to be able to figure that out.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I saw it last night in the Arkansas game too. The LDE was getting good jumps off it.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Who’d of thunk Dalton would have been this good? Not me.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
BOaB did.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
BOaB?
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
burntorangeandbrown.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Ok. I’ll buy that man a Miller lite.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
I think he was the only one here that called it. He should get a 12 pack.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
There may have been one other. Forget who it was though.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
that would be me, i also said i thought he was someone we should pick up because of his ability to read the defenses a little better than who else was available as QB.
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
12 it is.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Bohemia, thanks.
burntorangeandbrown - January 8, 2012
Red power
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Still not buying yet.
Bernie19Kosar - January 7, 2012
Hasn’t looked good tonight.
emily522 - January 7, 2012
Any one here besides me want to see Quinn get into the game and torch Pissburg?
Kaner - January 7, 2012
Noooooooooooooooo.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
being ’tebow’ed way more embarrassing. Denver won’t make it past 2nd round so win win
'thedrive'ruinedmy9thbirthday - January 7, 2012 via Android app
I do. He did it before.
tribe71 - January 7, 2012
Yes, think he got a raw deal here.
Bernie19Kosar - January 7, 2012
He kind of backed himself into that corner.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Yeah not to rip the scab off the wound, but I think his agent really laid the foundation for screwing him up.
Bernie19Kosar - January 7, 2012
The hold out screwed him over.
emily522 - January 7, 2012
Indeed. maybe his agent knew he was a bum and wanted to milk him of what he was still considered valuable.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Sort of, but his whole time here was a non-stop QB controversy with DA. He deserved some time to develop. That said, I wasn’t all that high on him at ND anyway so it doesn’t surprise me. He clearly had some talent. Too bad nobody here could develop it.
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
Chuck does look slimmer.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
You know it’s a good football stadium when you can barely hear the announcers over the crowd.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
They’re loud as hell.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Loudest place ever….old Seattle Kingdome.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Damn, that’s old skool.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Why waste a challenge if you have a 3rd and short coming up?
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Silly Marvin
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Hey Moe! Hey Larry! Woo woo woo!
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
That penalty hurt.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
BB is still alive? He looks no older than when his hubby was POTUS.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
She is rather mannish, is all.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
what are these “playoffs” you speak of?
athensdawg - January 7, 2012
Believe it or not… good teams do play extra games after the regular season.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
huh, who’da thunk it!?
athensdawg - January 7, 2012
Playoffs???

Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Tie goes to the receiver.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Two stupid challenges by Cincy. That’s embarrassing.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Marvin is all world bad with his challenges.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
That was pathetic.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Makes you wonder what the knuckleheads in the replay booth are doing?

Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
You are all about the three stooges references today. Heh.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Soitenly! Can’t wait for the movie coming out in April.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
there’s a new movie coming out?! who’s in it?
athensdawg - January 7, 2012
Will Sasso is supposed to play Curly.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Used to be Ron
champion64 - January 7, 2012
Mostly no names…Farrely brothers produced and directed….looks like a great tribute. Most recognizable is Will Sasso (Mad TV) as Curly.
http://www.threestooges.com/movie/
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Here’s the trailer…Sasso is great and the guy playing Moe is spot on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4IoUo_ZJkY
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
i’m watching this movie
athensdawg - January 8, 2012
Sneak preview of Heckert, Holmgren, and Murmur in the draft room….last one I promise (maybe..).

Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
haha
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
My dad loved the Stooges. Had some good laughs watching it with him.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
i loved watching the stooges also, and little rascals, then “super-host”. those were great saturdays
athensdawg - January 7, 2012
IMO the new movie might ruin the respect to the Stooges.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Nah….Farrely bros are huge fans, trailer looks great….should be a good tribute.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
I just have a problem with the goofy remakes. Too much good stuff has been screwed up lately.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Super-host, there’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. Before my time though mostly.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
GIVE ME THAT SHOE!!
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
i’ll be 40 in a couple weeks, but superhost was part of my saturday’s. love godzilla-vs-mothera!
athensdawg - January 8, 2012
OHHHHH!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
JJ WATT!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
DAYUM!
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
YESSSSSSSSSSS! HOUSTON!!!
champion64 - January 7, 2012
That was SIC!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Catches better than our WRs
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
I think he had Stick Um on his hands….
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Hell yeah! They’re playing Bulls on Parade! Totally fitting.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
JJ Friggin’ Watt
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
We may have had won a few more games if our guys who are paid to catch caught more passes that hit them like these teams. And I’m not talking about athletic plays just the drops. It may not be all on colt and pat.
tribe71 - January 7, 2012
I absolutely feel the same way.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Dream scenario….Hou wins, Tebow Tebow’s the Steelers. Hou beats Balt, Tebow Tebow’s the Pats, then Tebow get’s Tebowed by Hou in AFC Champ game.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Keep dreaming. haha
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
We’re Browns fans….it’s all about the Dream.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
I want what he said to happen, but it’s not gunna happen.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
And then Houston gets creamed by the 49ers. Since we’re dreaming and all.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
NOOO!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Hope Rodgers retains the belt. Or Lions…that would be cool to see one of our Lake Erie brethren do it.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Screw Detroit!
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Hells no. That Harbaugh guy wouldn’t flood this board.
Bernie19Kosar - January 7, 2012
Anyone follow Bernie on twitter? We need to teach the legend how to tweet…and spell. For probably one of the most intelligent QB’s of all time his tweets are funny….
@BernieKosarQB
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Drunk tweeting never goes well.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
LOL. That’s what I assumed, but as Ohio’s only resident with KOSAR on his Browns plate, didn’t want to say it.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
haha that’s cool. My dog
-———————————————>That’s Kosar.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
drunk dbn’ing does go well either…i know
athensdawg - January 8, 2012
I loved the shot of Goodel sitting by himself looking around aimlessly.
And I’ve only wached 3 Texan games this year, and each one Watt has been a beast.
redCel - January 7, 2012 via mobile
Can the Browns scrap the West Coast, and model it more after the Bills K-Gun offense with Jim Kelly…much more fun.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Give it some time. It’s a “process”.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
dude chill out, they’re battling…
athensdawg - January 8, 2012
I have to say: this is a pretty good game. If it were a Browns game I’d be on the edge of my seat.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
If it were a Browns game it wouldn’t be called a playoff game.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Frosty? Did his mom screw a snowman?
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Enough with the ED commercials.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
My, aren’t we sensitive…
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
No one wants to think about old people boning except maybe old people.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Exactly!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Even then, it’s iffy…
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Old people lose their bone because they’re not meant to make babies. Simple Darwinism.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Agreed. J/k @ BY. They are ridiculous. The best/worst one is the guy finally able to throw the football through the tire. Verrrrrrrrrrrrry subtle.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Lol
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
The guy BBQ’n and doesn’t drop the top when it starts raining is the one that gets me pissed.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
My favorite is Smilin’ Bob. Haven’t seen him in a while though.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
He’s a great golfer!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
I’m old and I don’t even want to think about it. I’m sick of those commercials. Could they make them more cheesy?
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
I trust the Farrelly brothers. Moe does to Snookie what we all want to do to the Guido D-Bag Jersey shore cast!
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
I approve.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
athensdawg approves this message…
athensdawg - January 8, 2012
Texans with all the momentum.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Gervais got the Golden Globes again? Surprised after he took those shots at religion.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Have I mentioned how filthy Foster is?
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
This Yates guy looks pretty good.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
I’d say so, but last time I did I got in a pissing match with someone who said McCoy is way more talented.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Can only imagine who that was with.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
not johnnypronto.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Nail in the coffin?
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Probably. Cinci looks pretty dejected/frustrated.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Cincy is done.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
That was great play by Simpson.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Simpson’s got mad hops.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Don’t you mean mad ‘buds’?
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
Is that a pot joke?
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Giggity.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
everybody got a bud
athensdawg - January 8, 2012
Cincy could trade up to 4 and get Claiborne…they got the ammo and Pacman is cancer.
Just another scenario maybe.
redCel - January 7, 2012 via mobile
Not sure if he’s a cancer any more but he sure does suck.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
agreed.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
Woah, you think they would give us their 2 first rounders? Probably not but when has anyone had 3 first round picks? Even if they are in the bottom half..
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
lol “On 4th down and 3, Cincinnati will go for it”. They’re in punt formation, you idiot!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
nuk nuk indeed
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
WTF was that? Good job Dalton.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
An extended punt.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I guess the outcome wasn’t bad. But it was a poor play.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Question… Did TJ Yates just steal Shaub’s spot?
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
If he beats the Gayvens…then maybe 10% chance.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
I don’t think so. Schaub is a bit more consistent than Yates at this point from what I’ve seen.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
But do you think a team will try to grab him as a starter? It’s looking like Shaub 2.0 when Shaub played for Atlanta.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
I think that is possible, esp. if Houston can advance beyond the next round.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
I certainly hope so. I hope desperate teams scoop up him and Flynn. Gives us less competition for a QB in the draft.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Hmm, that’s a good way at looking at it.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Wicked coverage there.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
FYI, next game thread is up for the Lions/Saints game, when that starts:
http://www.dawgsbynature.com/2012/1/7/2690493/wildcard-weekend-detroit-lions-vs-new-orleans-saints
Chris Pokorny - January 7, 2012
Sweet. More Browns Nation playoff therapy.
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
And that’s the end of the game…
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Yeah. Time to shower and shave for this stupid ass company party I agreed to go to. If the hotel room wasn’t paid for I wouldn’t go.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Wow.
emily522 - January 7, 2012
OH SHIT THAT WAS AWESOME!!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
wow
'thedrive'ruinedmy9thbirthday - January 7, 2012 via Android app
They just keep pouring it on.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Just checked out the Bungles blog…can someone tell me why every post they make is a subject? Noticed that with the Bills blog earlier this year too…
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
A lot of blogs do that. We take pride in NOT using the subject line.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
We’re actually in the minority in that regard on SBN.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
I like it our way….just like our rich Browns tradition….
We will never top the Stooler drought from 1933 to 1972 no matter how bad it gets…
Kosar19 - January 7, 2012
subject line? we don’t need no stinkin’ subject line…hahahahahaha!
athensdawg - January 8, 2012
Cushing blasted that dude!
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
Must be on a cycle.
Bernie19Kosar - January 7, 2012
You see that? Dude flew back like 3 yards.
Brownie's Year - January 7, 2012
I really thought this game would be a LOT closer. Hou really turned it on in the third.
North Coast Flea - January 7, 2012
Colt haters take note: you can win a playoff game with TJ freakin’ Yates when you have an elite receiver and running back.
hanover fist - January 7, 2012
and one of the best defenses in the league, and you’re playing the Bengals
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
bingo
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
You have to be in the playoffsto do it though. 4 wins doesn’t cut it
champion64 - January 7, 2012
I don’t care if the Browns stick with an average QB and get talented, play making WRs and RBs, or find a great QB and at least average WRs/RBs – either would be a vast improvement.
kingcrimson2 - January 7, 2012
AJ Green is amazing but I just saw a play where he’s standing there holding his dong instead of trying to block for another reciever right near him. I hate receivers who don’t block. Good teams have receivers who hold their blocks forever, that’s how they make 20+ yard plays.
HenryDawg - January 7, 2012
one reason i didnt want him, dont need a dong holder. we got too many of those as it is.
findlaybrownslover - January 7, 2012
I thought we cut our dong holder already
jonnyphoenix - January 8, 2012
