4 months ago: SAN FRANCISCO, CA - JANUARY 22: Members of the grounds crew squeegee water off of the field prior to the San Francisco 49ers host the New York Giants the field during the NFC Championship Game at Candlestick Park on January 22, 2012 in San Francisco, California. The Giants and the 49ers have each had great postseason efforts from Eli Manning and Alex Smith, respectively. Both defenses have fierce groups up front with some clutch plays by their secondary. The NFC Championship will be contested under rainy conditions though; how will that affect the pass rushers on both teams? This game can go either way, and both teams deserve to be in the position to advance to the Super Bowl. My pick is the Giants because of the greater level of experience they have.

Dawg Nuts - January 22, 2012
Gooooooooooo 9ers. Seriously you’d better not lose.
Adrock2099 - January 22, 2012
Voted for Niners. Couldn’t vote in first game. I knew it would be close.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Will go down to the wire.
kingcrimson2 - January 22, 2012
@alexmack55 Alex Mack
Watching games as a fan in bars is incredibly fun
Love this guy
HenryDawg - January 22, 2012
Nice
kingcrimson2 - January 22, 2012
No doubt, he’s a keeper.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Wish we had this kind of protection.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
New Movie..."Two 1/2 Men (Cheaters) and an American Idol Washed Up Baby?"
Kosar19 - January 22, 2012
I turned it on halfway through the anthem. Wondered who the 80 year old woman was singing. He has not aged well.
Justin Kowalczyk - January 22, 2012
It ain’t the years, it’s the miles.
JamesPowell - January 22, 2012
At 35 I still got carded, at 42 i’m lucky they don’t call the coroner. It catches up to all of us.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Psych, J/K. I still shine up like a hot penny.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
I’m kinda cheering for SF in this game, but mostly just enjoying watching the game. Once BAL lost, the day was all good.
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Ya
kingcrimson2 - January 22, 2012
This has been the best non-Browns playoff season ever.
Dawg Nuts - January 22, 2012
Vernon Davis needs to stop being an A-hole.
kingcrimson2 - January 22, 2012
He can’t. It’s what he is.
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Didn’t they the 49ers have the 2nd best ST in the league?
Why did we let go of seeley again?
The Licensed Pessimist - January 22, 2012
I thought we were really building something but we let it all go.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
In Holmgren we trust!
The Licensed Pessimist - January 22, 2012
I’m not allowed to be commiserating with you in public…lol.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
On the other hand….no one is looking…..still not sure about the future of this team regarding coaching. Shhhh.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Shurmer is a part of this organization for the long haul…are you with us or against us?
kingcrimson2 - January 22, 2012
I develop my own opinions. On some things I am very much with you. Others, meh.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
The biggest thing lately, I agree with Chris. You all need to stop kicking McCoy. He may be our QB next year.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Right. In all my years of watch sports and hearing spin (esp. over the last 13 years) I found this the most insulting, ignorant thing as a fan I’ve ever heard. Requiring religious type faith (which is also BS, sorry) to valid true fanhood and wash away poor performance is beyond absurd. Kiss my ass Mike. Win and I’ll eat crow and gloat all over you Heckert and Shurmer.
kingcrimson2 - January 22, 2012
I read this three times and i’m still not quite sure what you mean.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
I think he means he was being sarcastic in his first post, and that mindset actually drives him crazy. I think
The Licensed Pessimist - January 22, 2012
Ok, then i’m in.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Browns didn’t let him go, he left on his own.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Davis's TD celabration penalty.
Is there any way to get through to the super selfish players like Vernon Davis to celebrate within the rules?
64GO42 - January 22, 2012
Shot of props or dances so long it slows down the game, I don’t have a problem with spontaneous TD dance. NFL is get stoggy. Better example – seating rules.
kingcrimson2 - January 22, 2012
*short…
kingcrimson2 - January 22, 2012
Vic Cruz is filthy.
kingcrimson2 - January 22, 2012
I know, when is his contract up?
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
He is playing all the way on the other side of the country and he’s still getting “Cruuuuuuuuuz!” chants after every reception in Candlestick.
Simmsinns - January 22, 2012
There are ex-NYers all over the West Coast.
JamesPowell - January 22, 2012
Alex Smith with Tebow-like numbers. At this point, NY 48 offensive plays, SF 28
JamesPowell - January 22, 2012
Gore is a stud.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
TD
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Damn it. Napped waaay longer then I wanted to.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Damn you Vernon Davis! You do literally nothing for my fantasy team during the season but when I don’t use you in the play off challenge you have 3 TD’s in two weeks. Worst draft pick ever.
macdowellm03 - January 22, 2012 via Android app
None of my guys did anything today. Pretty pissed at that.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
I have never played playoff challenge. Sounds fun. I play 4 teams on yahoo every year. Three made it but all lost week one of playoffs. The awesome part is I did get 3 3rd place trophies this year.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
It’s not as fun as FF. Just something extra to do during playoffs.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Challenge that! Giant’s ball!
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Should be an extra point attempt coming up next unless those camera angles are totally deceiving. Oops. No advance. Ah, well.
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Can’t advance until the receiving team has control first.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
It can’t be a fumble. Brad Seely is the greatest ST coach of all time.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Brad Seely is in the playoffs Mr. negativity. :P
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
It was a sarcastic comment
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
I did get it….do you ever smile?
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
All the time.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
I was hoping.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Williams knew he touched it. He started to go after it.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
And he stopped. Major brain fart.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
I think he was hoping that the officials believed his acting job. Almost worked.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
He stood arms akimbo, the international signal in sports for “I didn’t do it.”
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
I don’t want the 49ers to win. I don’t want a rookie HC to walk in and get to the Super Bowl.
I don’t care if that’s lame, but something just doesn’t sit right with me having a rookie HC come out of college and reach a Super Bowl (a Michigan man at that) while Marty Schottenheimer never went.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
That’s a good reason.
I just hate the Niners.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Well, there’s always that.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
I don’t want this to happen because it will be the new excuse to get a new HC every year, just like Brady is the excuse to think 6th round QBs are viable.
HenryDawg - January 22, 2012
WOOO! TD!
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
YES!!!!!!!!
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
I’m just a huge fan of the underdog. The Browns aren’t in it so I’m rooting for the biggest underdog left….Alex Smith.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Why is this game taking so long?
emily522 - January 22, 2012
Joe Buck.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
haha
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
I wonder how handy that phone is when you need to take down a Death Star.
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Alex Smith is the perfect argument to take a QB instead of a WR this draft.
He looked like complete crap last season with the same WR’s. Now, he is playing better and his pass catchers are now looking good.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Come on….
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
If anything, Smith is the quintessential guy who makes a case to stick with what you have.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Disagree 100%.
You willing to wait 7 years for good QB play?
Have to fix the QB spot before anything else.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
I hadn’t paid much attention to SF in the past. How much of this year’s success is due to an improved Smith and how much is due to an improved SF team?
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
It’s both, really.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Both, they have had a pretty good defense for a few years I think.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Please insert your beating a dead horse gif here…..I am on record saying i’m good either way. I actually can’t wait for draft day so the speculation and infighting will cease.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
It was just a comment, relax.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
I am…totally. I’m being honest and i’m not one bit upset.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
I actually want NY to win and I want the loss to be Vernon Davis’ fault.
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Crabtree’s uniform is amazingly clean.
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Good stop NY.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Huge.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
I also hate Akers.
He cried like a bitch when he pulled his hamstring when he was in Philly.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Oh yeah, I remember that. haha
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
That clip of Montana getting hammered was classic.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Woooo, I thinks NY is gunna pull this out.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Spoke too soon?
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Niners just got ass reamed right there.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Went through my progressions on inappropriate responses and decided to just throw that one away.
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Say it. It’s a game thread.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
NOOO
Too much time left.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Alex Smith is here! Have no fear.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Hell Yeah!
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
I think Eli and Cruz are gonna make a play here.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Eli was awesome buying time there.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Gawd… if the niners win my phone is going to explode. It was bad enough when they beat us earlier in the season.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Patrick Willis covering Cruz? That was awesome.
HenryDawg - January 22, 2012
Willis is a freak.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
For a second I thought NY was down 3 and I was like WHY ARE THEY PUNTING?
emily522 - January 22, 2012
Could we have had better Championship football today or what?
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Yeah, good games. Though I fell asleep and missed half of this one.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Being the championship, across mid field and only 30 or so seconds left, I think the Giants should have gone for it there.
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
No way.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
I find it easier to gamble with someone else’s team.
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
heh
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
They only need about 25-30 yards
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
If they explain the new OT rules one more time my head will explode. Its not that complicated
macdowellm03 - January 22, 2012 via Android app
Yet the players still don’t understand them.
Demaryius Thomas had no idea he won the game when he scored against Pittsburgh.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Scored against Pittsburgh. Rec
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Like those guys on that beer commercial, I was hoping for overtime
JamesPowell - January 22, 2012
@Reggie_Hodges Reggie Hodges
Of course! One the best on special teams in the league! RT @bblande: @Reggie_Hodges You pulling for Costanzo?
HenryDawg - January 22, 2012
That was stupid.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Now it’s sudden death.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
WTF, why does San Francisco refuse to run the ball on first down?
gentryholdem - January 22, 2012
They have underused Frank Gore all season long.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
wow risky throw to be short
HenryDawg - January 22, 2012
I hope someone scores soon, i’m getting tired.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
I love how these late games suck for you guys.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
As bad most people think Pashos is, Kareem McKenize is that bad.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Healthy Pashos is fine. Also very rare.
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
OMG WTF!
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
I would like for there to be a quadruple OT game so American Idol can be seen at 2 am.
HenryDawg - January 22, 2012
Special teams!
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
GAME OVER!!!!!!!!!
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
I didn’t know the Browns were playing!
emily522 - January 22, 2012
Williams strikes again!
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Wow, both games are close and both come down to ST. Great games today.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
Kind of happy to see neither of the brothers get into the Super Bowl. If this plays out.
gentryholdem - January 22, 2012
Agree.
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Just kick it now.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Watch him miss it.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Pull a little Billy Cundif.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
What could possibly go wrong?
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Alex Mack steps in front of the snap.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
YES! Go screw off Niners!
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Suck it Harbaugh
Bernie19Kosar - January 22, 2012
Finally. Bed time.
JustBob - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Finally….night guys.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 22, 2012
I don’t really care who won as long or Baltimore or Pittsburgh weren’t in the Super Bowl.
emily522 - January 22, 2012
American Idol? See ya FOX.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
Wow. Great game.
Simmsinns - January 22, 2012
Why the hell did they change the NFC and AFC trophies into these weak pieces of crap? Poor Lamar Hunt and George Halas, did they even keep their names on them?
HenryDawg - January 22, 2012
Did anyone see Bradshaw interviewing some of the players after the game? Who was that old lady interrupting him? I was laughing my ass off. The look on his face was “Get out off here you old bag”.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
That shouldn’t have been a reply. Opposite of reply fail.
Brownie's Year - January 22, 2012
It was hilarious, Bradshaw is a dick.
Dawg Nuts - January 23, 2012
Damn, I wish I didn’t miss it.
