The final game of this round between the Giants and the Packers is another very intriguing NFC match-up. The Giants somehow know how to turn on a switch when the postseason comes around. Their defensive line can get pressure like no other, but Aaron Rodgers is so good that he can fire it to any of his receivers on a rope and have them break the big one. The difference between the 49ers containing Brees early on and the Giants [probably] not being able to is the level of play from their secondaries. The Packers will win this one at home.

4 home teams winning in the Divisional Round of the playoffs hasn’t happened since 2004.
DisplacedBuckeye - January 15, 2012
All home teams won last week too, I think.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
We’ll see how long I last this game. Too much McD’s and feeling sleepy.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
McD’s? Oh no…a step away from CrApplebee’s.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
It’s close and I needed the salt. Drank a lot last night.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Big Macs are good for hang overs.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
Yeah. Had 2 of them and fries.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
2 Big Macs???
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
I have a lil’ bird stomach, so that wasn’t a good idea.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Even with a large stomach that sounds like a bad plan. Greasy eggs and hashbrowns is the go to hangover meal, IMO/E
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Sausage Egg Mc with cheese. Mmmmmm.
SpecialBrownie - January 15, 2012
I usually go with the McChicken kicker
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
MCGANGBANG!
SpecialBrownie - January 15, 2012
Bloody Marys are good for hangovers. Hair of the Dawg.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Eww, that stuff is nasty.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Yum, I make awesome Bloody Marys.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
Me too. What’s your recipe?
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
I usually wing it depending on what we have around, but the musts are worchester, horseradish, fresh lime juice, tobasco, and lots of it, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, celery salt, a splash of clam juice is nice if you have it.
What’s yours?
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
Sounds awful.
SpecialBrownie - January 15, 2012
I used to think so but as I’ve got past 30, it has become more and more appealing.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Dude, it’s gross.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
My ex makes them when sh’e here. Makes me want to vomit.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
My standard recipe is:
5-7 drop Worcester sauce
10-12 drop/dashes hots sauce (Franks or Red devil)
1/8 tsp horseradish (prepared)
lime juice (sliced, squeezed)
2-3 dashes celery salt
lots of fresh ground black pepper
3-4 drops A1 steak sauce
2 shot vodka (usually Tito’s or Stoli)
1 small can Campbell Tomato juice
Also do a variation with Sirachi sometimes
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Good call on the Srirachi, I’ve done that too and its fantastic.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
No doubt. I’ll leave out the horseradish and go wasabi, sirachi, and a little bit of regular hot sauce. Triple hot Bloody Mary.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
I was watching a game at BW3 and the bartender put in a little bit of their hottest wing sauce – yum!!!
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
As did I. No excuse!
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Chili day over here.
SpecialBrownie - January 15, 2012
Belly goes ‘rumble rumble rumble’
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
I’m just hoping for a good game.
Simmsinns - January 15, 2012
How is there not a Browns fan in the NFL/fantasy/had a bad day commercial?
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Plus, and no offense intended to any homosexuals – that song is mega-gay.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
I saw a commercial with Browns fans celebrating, I was so confused.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
Because our QB on the tv apparently went deep. I was like, wtf?
Bud Light has to know our city drinks the most. There’s no other explanation to explain why we’re in their new commercials so much.
SpecialBrownie - January 15, 2012
Good theory.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
It’s not our QB, it’s just the first play of the Super Bowl, right?
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
No, he’s watching a Browns game while he answers the question to “What will be the first play of the 4thQ in the SB?”
SpecialBrownie - January 15, 2012
Oh, thought it was just Browns fans watching the SB and he got the play right.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
I think you’re right but I pretend its us anyway.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
I only wear my Browns jersey on Super Bowl Sunday when the Browns are playing in the game.
tribe71 - January 15, 2012
OT: I am sorting of entertaining how our D looks with Vontaze Burfict at WLB, I don’t quite see it, but I also think we could use someone to intimidate Rothlisburger, et al.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
Where is he projected to go? What pick?
jlsclarity - January 15, 2012
low first round/top of second maybe
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
Is Burfict a cop or something?
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
and rec
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
That pic of Pittsburgh’s mayor “tebowing” makes me wonder what kind of trouble Denver’s mayor would have gotten into had he been forced to imitate Roethlisberger’s most famous “moves”
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 15, 2012
Eli with a good start.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
And lol at everyone spending their time on the Tebow thread. No way in hell am I getting involved in that mess.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Good call, it’s ugly.
Dawg Nuts - January 15, 2012
it’s a new thread and saw how many comments it had. Immediately thought “Oh no, this can’t be good”.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
HAHA! I just checked and most of the thread was deleted! HAHA!
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Politics, religion or both?
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
From what i saw mostly religion. But saw politics as well.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
that’s what happens when you don’t wrap the runner up and you just go for the hit
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 15, 2012
Yup. Figured this be a close game.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012

kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
I hate Joe Buck…and his stupid face
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Buck sucks.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Luck ducks.
Dawg Nuts - January 15, 2012
Hey, what happened to the Tebow thread? It was just getting interesting… :-/
(/sarc)
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
That’s strange, I was just in it, clicked over to here and found you all saying it’s deleted. Now it isn’t there. Must be some higher power at work…
Dawg Nuts - January 15, 2012
Pretty sure NTN took it down.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
I’m sure it’s for the best. Ugliness upon ugliness.
Dawg Nuts - January 15, 2012
I saw who the main characters were and it doesn’t surprise me.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Yeah, I let myself get sucked right into that one.
Dawg Nuts - January 15, 2012
I didn’t read all the comments but I saw you in there.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Same. Should’ve known not to touch that one with a ten foot pole.
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
Shame golan wasn’t around for it… could’ve been a truly epic explosion.
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
How do you know he wasn’t?
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
It’s certainly a possibility.
Dawg Nuts - January 15, 2012
Like I said, I didn’t see all the comments.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Aha – good point.
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
I took it down. We let it go for a bit, but we had to shut her down before someone got upset.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
I just assumed that NTN did because you were in there mixin’ it up.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Everyone for the most part behaved, but it had reached a point where discussions could have turned into arguments. Felt it was the right place to pull the plug.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
It had definitely reached critical mass.
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
Why not just lock it?
The Licensed Pessimist - January 15, 2012
It had already collected radioactive material unsuitable for those with delicate sensibilities.
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
I assume you’re referring to Him (Joe Thomas ;)

The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
Were you in the Tebow thread?
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Reply fail, sorry.

Nope nope.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012

LOL. Trade Suh.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
LMAO – he’s telling them they should trade Suh.
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
I like that he is not using the subject line though — sticking to DBN rules.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 15, 2012
haha I thought of that too when I saw the post.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
I swear he does that shit just to get a reaction. I think he’s a master at playing the clueless buffoon.
Dawg Nuts - January 15, 2012
But one of his first posts was arguing with rufio about Robiskie. He was right about his NFL career thus far.
Doc's Kid - January 15, 2012
How did you you wrap up that thing you had to write? Sorry if I came on a bit strong there.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
I think if he wasn’t legit, we’d have broke him while he was here.
Simmsinns - January 15, 2012
He’s like an Andy Kauffman type — never sure if it’s schtick or not.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 15, 2012
If you believe, they put a man on the moon….
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
Wll played – rec. Great song btw.
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
They think he’s joking. How cute.
Simmsinns - January 15, 2012
Haha, that is hilarious, Heckert shouldn’t mess with them like that.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
That Eli, he always seems to get a first when he needs it.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
But, Oof.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
This pisses me off. Had Welker in my DBN playoff challenge. With the bye he would have given me X2 points. It said he was Questionable so I switched to Nicks yesterday. Then I switched to Jennings this morning Thinking GB would advance and now Nicks is having a good game.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
DAMN IT! Another Nicks TD!
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Apparantly I should be watching this game.
Simmsinns - January 15, 2012
Eli is playing good.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
I just turned on an audio stream.
Simmsinns - January 15, 2012
Does that mean I can’t talk about the game because you’re behind again"
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
You can because I’m don’t have this thread open the whole time.
Simmsinns - January 15, 2012
You yelled at me last time so I’m just being weary.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
That was back when the MNF stream was a good 10 minutes behind.
Simmsinns - January 15, 2012
If Giants pull this out we’ll have another NY/NE Super Bowl.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
San Fran have a real chance against NY. That’ll be a good game, actually.
Simmsinns - January 15, 2012
Yeah, it was close when they both played earlier in the season.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
San Fran has a good chance against both of these teams — that D is pretty sick. Agree that their chances against the Giants are better — for one thing, they would have home field against the Giants.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 15, 2012
Remember we all wanted Whitner…..:-(
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
I think he’s from Cleveland too. We don’t know who they reached out to and who rejected their offers but I find it hard to believe he wouldn’t want to play here.
HenryDawg - January 16, 2012
I barely recall, but the last SF NY game was supposed to be all SF. NY won….was that the year they beat the Bills….honestly?
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
playoff game?
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Yeah, sorry. I meany playoffs.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
*meant
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
I just checked. NY won 15-13 to go to the SB.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Thanks
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
After thinking about it some more I thought they had played later than that. In ‘02 they had the famous botched snap during a field goal attempt to win. The Giants holder threw it down field and they were called for illegal man down field. Niners won by a point. I totally remember that play.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Forgot about Garcia…good call.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
I’m from the Bay Area and remember watching that game with my friends. Game can’t end on a defensive penalty. It was Defensive Pass interference. But since the receiver was a lineman the game was over.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Game winning field goal by former Brown Matt Bahr (also kicked the game winner in the Super Bowl but that was overshadowed by Norwood’s miss).
TheDriveStillHurts - January 15, 2012
I remember those games, and also meeting him as a kid. He was shorter than expected and a little, I dunno, anxious?
He remember him saying he didn’t think it was fair that a tight game could be decided by one kick.
I was disappointing when the Browns let him go. Matt Kauric was awesome though…not.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Wish we had a great O line like Green Bay
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
Not fair to judge Rodgers as a QB with that O-line or the lack of running game.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 15, 2012
And all of the drops.
Legoman0721 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
I’m hearing GB is talking trade up to get RG3.
Dawg Nuts - January 15, 2012
That would be a disaster. They lost because Rodgers was running a lot. RGIII will run 30 gazillion more times than that so GB would lose even more games. /sarc
JustBob - January 16, 2012
so if I eat kfc hot wings I’ll be invited to hipster parties?
No thanks.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
KFC invites me to toilet parties.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Probably more like angioplasty parties.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
I’ll have a bucket and 2 stents please.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
but now they’re only fiddy cent a wing!!! Plus hipsters!
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Would you like your arterial plaque original or extra crunchy?
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
Ha!
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Watching this Giants defense makes me think we’re not too far behind on the defensive side of the ball. We just need one more draft to put the finishing touch on it. Then, it’s a matter of maintenance for long-term strength…
Spidey - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Tuck, Ousi, and Pierre Paul are 3 stud rushers. Sheard looks good and Rubin is ok…we still are more than “a couple” players away, IMO.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
None of those guys are rookies though, we need a RDE, a WLB and a little more experience and we’re pretty much have the type of defense where you’re just drafting the best defensive player available, not because you have a glaring need. We haven’t had that kind of D in a long time.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
We’ve been down this road. Again I hope you are right, and agree the current D looks better than any in the last 13 years but I maintain our D is more than 2 players and our O is at least 5 players away.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
I’m just talking about getting to a baseline of not totally sucking though. I agree that as the years go by we will be adding players with the intention of being a year to year playoff contender.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
Our D is 2-3 players away.
Our O? That’s a whole other story.
Spidey - January 15, 2012 via mobile
The story is our O is one player away. That player is the QB.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 15, 2012
This. Rec. This.
Dawg Nuts - January 16, 2012
I’m guessing u were not serious, but I think DQ would be better playing the will, Burflict the mike and Gocong playing sam regarding your earlier post.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
I don’t think it would happen, and I’m not sure how he would fit with the other players (they seem to be pretty concerned about positive team chemistry, which I like), but I also think they could use a guy that scares people. Our D is solid and they seem to be building the sort of D that is boring but disciplined, like a wall, but I wouldn’t mind a dash of effing nuts added to that equations.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
We need more pass rush.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
Yes we do.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
1st round DE.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
That’s what I’m talking about!
Spidey - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Sweet! I’m over this QB/WR with our two picks,
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
We’re the Dawgs for a reason – it’s DEFENSE!!!
Spidey - January 15, 2012 via mobile
I can get behind this line of thinking.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
Just barely good.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
If it was Dawson they would have said No Good.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Probably.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
That was BS
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
totally
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
They should have punted.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Rodgers/Finley should have made that play. It was a good call.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
That was the 3rd down play.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
You are right. When you are so good on offense I guess it can go to your head.
realmccoy - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Not looking good for GB.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
The road to the super bowl goes thru Harbaugh.
realmccoy - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Tebow, I hope not.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Still can’t believe the Saints didn’t win yesterday.
Straight up shocking.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
2 of the top 3 QBs lost before the Championships games. How does that lend credence to the argument that QB is by far the most important player on a team – that skill players needs are 2nd?
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Both teams needed massive mistakes.
In fact, I would argue that the Packers and Saints are the two best teams in the NFL, just played their worst at the wrong time.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
That’s a more than fair argument.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
I would agree about the Pack but SF came with an A game…..
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
San Fran needed 5 turnovers (one in each red zone) and still needed a last second TD.
Saints are the better team.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
Yep. San Fran played a great game but I agree. The Saints are a better team.
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
I won’t argue that guys….just reveling in the mystique that is Alex Smith. He was provincial when they needed providence. Drew is far and away a better QB but not yesterday.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
In a dome, yes. On grass, the Saints are just about average. If the Saints and 49ers played 10 times and split home/away, I’d call the home team to win every game.
Legoman0721 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Mainly that defense and a running game are still important, and that’s fine, but you still need a QB. You also need luck, timing and playing strong at the right time. That last one is random, you never know when that’s going to happen.
HenryDawg - January 15, 2012
NYG are definitely healthy and hitting their strike at the right time. Props to them.

realmccoy - January 15, 2012 via mobile

burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
Packers played sloppy today.
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
not a good game all around by GB
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Saints, Texans and Pack have all killed themselves. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
Yup.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
It feels weird to say it but the afc should now be favored….any Patriots fans out there?
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
Yeah, over at the Pulpit.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
Only way to beat the Pats is to pass, pass, pass and rush the hell out of Brady.
The only team left that can beat them is the Giants. The Packers and Saints would have murdered them.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
Or…and I know you don’t want to hear this….
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
Well?
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
The Ravens….
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
Hits like a dagger…
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
Flacco isn’t good enough to beat the Pats.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
He has beat them though….It’s the worst of the worst.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
Sucks to be an AFC guy yet hope neither of the AFC teams wins the Superbowl. Just like last year.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
You don’t credit for the win with a stat line like this.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
But he has had one good game against them in a loss.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
That was an AFC north type defensive game wasn’t it?
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
I know what you’re saying. That was a rhetorical question.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
Huh?!?! Did you watch this Giants game???
Spidey - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Good point…they are on fire. Personally, I think Brady is on a mission. Next few weeks should be awesome.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
Lol…not sure what to make of that, I’ll just leave that to the powers that be.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
Damn my reply fails
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
I hate New York and it’s stupid face..

Niners are now the only team left I can root for in good conscience.
woodsmeister - January 15, 2012
Agreed.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Hey, Rodgers! Off season double-check!
(can I get a graphic to go with that?)
JustBob - January 15, 2012
Sweet Jesus, how do you get out run by Brandon Jacobs?
ouched - January 15, 2012
Charles Woodson looked slow and old there.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Over/under on Brady winning another Superbowl?
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
He’s pissed off. So I got $50 on Brady.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
I am with you. Brady best QB left and their D seem to be picking up.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
Yep. I’d put money on them now that the Packers are out of it.
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
I said it yesterday, I see the Pats being like the ‘06-’07 Colts – awful regular season defense, then turned it on and shut people down on the way to a SB win.
Dawg Nuts - January 15, 2012
Ok, I am out. Go Browns.
kingcrimson2 - January 15, 2012
I don’t like Manning, Flacco or Brady…..I’m riding Alex Smith for lack of options. A devout AFC guy rooting for the NFC….WWTebowD?
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
I always root for AFC, except when non Browns AFN teams make it.
Brownie's Year - January 15, 2012
I hate to sound anything similiar to certain others on here…but I called this game tonight. The “Golan Hunch” never fails!
Kimble_79 - January 15, 2012
Freakin’ Giants can throw a monkey wrench in anything…..they always could…….it’s nuts.
The New Kardiac Kids - January 15, 2012
Sorry to be the grammar policeman, but I believe the correct phrase is the “Golan Gut”.
burntorangeandbrown - January 15, 2012
That would be “meme police”.
JustBob - January 16, 2012
I’ve said the entire time that the Giants defense ALWAYS shows up in the playoffs.
