Same. Read this article on him and I’m kind of warming up to him.

Every week, Tebow picks out someone who is suffering, or who is dying, or who is injured. He flies these people and their families to the Broncos game, rents them a car, puts them up in a nice hotel, buys them dinner (usually at a Dave & Buster’s), gets them and their families pregame passes, visits with them just before kickoff (!), gets them 30-yard-line tickets down low, visits with them after the game (sometimes for an hour), has them walk him to his car, and sends them off with a basket of gifts.

I mean, that is really just above and beyond. Really sweet.

Lol Dave and Busters is an awesome choice!

He’s a flat out great guy. Don’t know why people hate him for being a good human. Look at last week after he beat the Steelers. He was more happy with the family he brought out and was able to spend time with. He is the definition of humanitarian.

I’m sold on him as being a good person, just not the QB skills yet.

I’m trying so hard to hate him, and I just can’t do it. I’m an OSU fan and firmly against his beliefs, but I can’t fault most of the things he does to help people. It’s frustrating.

Without getting into a huge discussion, suffice to say not everyone agrees on what makes someone a good or bad person.

Don’t know why people hate him for being a good human.

It’s not for being a good human, it’s for the in-your-face religiosity. I mean when Kurt Warner says you are going over the top with the Jesus stuff, you are going over the top. Also, he put himself out there as an advocate against abortion rights in what many people (including me) think was a very misleading commercial. If you are going to put yourself out there on a hot-button issue, expect to take some sh!t for it. Now, let’s not turn this into a talk of politics or abortion; the point is that when you put yourself out there, you are going to get some flack.

Right. Flying someone with a terrible injury or disease out to the game and giving them such great treatment is awesome. It truly is, and I respect that. But he’s done a lot of stuff I disagree with.

Although in his defense, he did address Jake Plummer’s comments about him.

I have many libertarian leanings, but I can’t agree with this. Guy in his early 20s is not mature enough to make that decision, and more importantly, if he has a freakin concussion, he sure as hell ain’t in the right mind to make the decision.

No one seems to mind when these guys play on busted knees, or backs. In fact, we call them tough. When former and current players say they want to play, who are we to say differently?

Different kinds of injuries. An ACL is usually non life threatening and easy to diagnose and cure. Concussions are a completely different animal.

As someone who has suffered an ACL injury and concussions, I will argue your point. I was in a car wreck in high school that busted my head up so bad, I couldn’t watch TV or look at a computer monitor for 8 weeks.

I got over it. My ACL injury, has caused three more surgeries for my knee, has developed such a bad case of arthritis, I knee a full knee replacement at the age of 30. I can’t get out of bed when it is cold out without meds.

So sorry if I don’t get fully behind the whole “but the head is so much different!” movement.

The brain is different. When you have a chance, you should read this (loosely related) series in the NY Times about Derek Boogard, a hockey enforcer. Not a hockey fan, but this was a fascinating series, and it shows the dangers of constant head injuries.

The Boogard case was sad (I live here in MN, it was huge news here).

I understand that the head injuries have an effect, I just don’t see why if a guy wants to keep playing (and make sure he doesn’t get Wally Pipped), then we have no reason to say no.

I don’t like the whole “because they aren’t in a right sense of mind” argument because I see former and current non-concussed players say they want to play with concussions. I think that excuse is a cop-out.
