All four games this weekend feature some of the most intriguing matchups you can get in football. The Divisional Round of the playoffs kicks off with the high-powered Saints offense going up against the stingy defense of the 49ers. For as good as Drew Brees is, the Saints' offense is not as successful on the road. Remember -- the Saints lost their road playoff game to an NFC West team last year. The 49ers stick to a unique/creative game plan that won't blow you away, but will get the job done. With that said, I have to take my chances on Brees continuing to roll and the 49ers being unable to catch up late.

I hate waiting until 4:30pm.
Simmsinns - January 14, 2012
Yeah, this 1:30 start time is bull crap.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
I love living on the West Coast
JamesPowell - January 14, 2012
Roger that. Looking forward to 1PM kickoff tomorrow, and the Texans punking the Ratbirds.
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Can’t wait for this game to start. Looking forward to it.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
What time do the Steelers play? Tomorrow?
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
I’m looking more forward to tonight’s Tebow Show.
Simmsinns - January 14, 2012
That’s the other game tonight? Hellz yeah!
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Same. Read this article on him and I’m kind of warming up to him.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
I mean, that is really just above and beyond. Really sweet.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
Lol Dave and Busters is an awesome choice!
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
He’s a flat out great guy. Don’t know why people hate him for being a good human. Look at last week after he beat the Steelers. He was more happy with the family he brought out and was able to spend time with. He is the definition of humanitarian.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
I’m sold on him as being a good person, just not the QB skills yet.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
haha
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
I’m trying so hard to hate him, and I just can’t do it. I’m an OSU fan and firmly against his beliefs, but I can’t fault most of the things he does to help people. It’s frustrating.
Legoman0721 - January 14, 2012 via Android app
Without getting into a huge discussion, suffice to say not everyone agrees on what makes someone a good or bad person.
notthatnoise - January 14, 2012
It’s not for being a good human, it’s for the in-your-face religiosity. I mean when Kurt Warner says you are going over the top with the Jesus stuff, you are going over the top. Also, he put himself out there as an advocate against abortion rights in what many people (including me) think was a very misleading commercial. If you are going to put yourself out there on a hot-button issue, expect to take some sh!t for it. Now, let’s not turn this into a talk of politics or abortion; the point is that when you put yourself out there, you are going to get some flack.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 14, 2012
Right. Flying someone with a terrible injury or disease out to the game and giving them such great treatment is awesome. It truly is, and I respect that. But he’s done a lot of stuff I disagree with.
notthatnoise - January 14, 2012
I agree.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
Although in his defense, he did address Jake Plummer’s comments about him.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
Is there a pre-game on? All I see is lame ass college basketball.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Fox has one
HenryDawg - January 14, 2012
I got it now. Every time I switched to Fox it was a commercial.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Why do people think Frank Caliendo is funny?
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
I’m not convinced they do.
notthatnoise - January 14, 2012
Saints 32-17
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
That prediction is still in play… Barely….
Legoman0721 - January 14, 2012 via Android app
His face is too fat for those sunglasses.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
They give the NFL guy desk right behind the bench with a computer?
How cheap.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
Holy shit, that was a massive play by Wittner.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Is it me or is this game of the year so far?
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
That would have been last week when the Stoolers got Tebowed…
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
That was more fun, but this one is more interesting.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Bingo.
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
That was pretty sic.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Oh snap!
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
This game ended quickly.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
Who saw this coming?
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
OMG game over. 9ers are hot right now.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Just now coming here, this is funny.
Dawg Nuts - January 14, 2012
Saints coming back. 9ers look flustered.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Ummm….hello? Frank Gore?
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
At the 3 yard line, your team has Frank Gore.
IMA THROW IT.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
Wow.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
What is happening here?
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Jim Harbaugh. Best coaching hire ever.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
His still a Fichigan D-Bag, smug punk. But other than that, I agree.
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
This is the best defense i’ve seen all year
abock15 - January 14, 2012
Calling it right now. Saints win by 20
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
So much fighting.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
Saints players can’t comprehend what’s happening.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
It’s about to be 21-0.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
I love how the 9ers dance in their kickoff huddle.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
COSTANZO! SEELY!
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
Starting to remind me of the Bills 51-3 AFC Champ game rout of the Raiders in 1990…don’t ask me why I made that correlation, it just came to mind.
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Not so much.
Dawg Nuts - January 14, 2012
Saints will win by 20.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Calling it now.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
They need to take a deep breath.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
They need to go to Haight-Ashbury for a bit and chill.
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
That place is over rated. But I did get a $150 pipe there once.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Saints have played about as poor of a quarter of football as humanly possibly.
Unless the Saints continue to turn it over and give the 49ers the ball inside their red zone, Bress will get it cranked up and start torching their defensive backfield.
The Saints will realize that Alex Smith can only throw slants, and start sitting on those routes.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Brees better step it up in these next two possessions.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Saints are going to go down and score, force a 3 and out, and this game is done.
The 49ers can’t hang with the Saints.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
My thoughts exactly.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 14, 2012
They look befuddled out there.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
That was a great dive…
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Great call refs.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
It sucks that Payton has to waste a challenge on this.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Wait, did they call it a fumble?
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Yes, but it will get overturned.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
nm
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
He was down.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Napolean Dynamite cartoon???? WTF
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
haha yeah. It looks dumb as hell.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
when did that movie come out? 10 years ago?
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
A lot of people like it. I think it’s stupid.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
I watched it a couple times. It has a few moments but I have no clue how you make a series out of it.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
All the voices in the cartoon are the real people in the movie. They must need money.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Oh dear God. A .gif in a game thread
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
The whole game thread should be .gifs…the Browns aren’t playing so why not laugh? In fact, I propose an entire game thread of all .gifs…
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Please don’t. I don’t think you understand the internet.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
Well since I run a web development company, I would say you’re incorrect. Anyway, it was meant to be humorous. Might want to relax a bit…
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
No one would be able to load the thread. The gifs would stop working.
notthatnoise - January 14, 2012
Screw off 9ers.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Jimmy Graham is playing with a concussion. He’s acting really weird
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
maybe
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Clearly. He always dunks. He just sat there and couldn’t even figure out how to spike it.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
Where was the dunk? Davis dunked on him earlier I was expecting a reverse jam.
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
HOW DARE THE SAINTS!!! DON’T THEY KNOW THEY ARE RISKING HIS LIFE!!! THEY SHOULD LOSE DRAFT PICKS!!!!
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
You’re still ignorant to concussions.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
You’re still ignorant to big boy football.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Hardly.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
Grown ass man wants to play, let him play.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Shouldn’t be his decision. A lot of grown men are idiots.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
I have many libertarian leanings, but I can’t agree with this. Guy in his early 20s is not mature enough to make that decision, and more importantly, if he has a freakin concussion, he sure as hell ain’t in the right mind to make the decision.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 14, 2012
True story.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
These guys all know the risks going into this.
You want to play, let them play.
No one seems to mind when these guys play on busted knees, or backs. In fact, we call them tough. When former and current players say they want to play, who are we to say differently?
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Different kinds of injuries. An ACL is usually non life threatening and easy to diagnose and cure. Concussions are a completely different animal.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
As someone who has suffered an ACL injury and concussions, I will argue your point. I was in a car wreck in high school that busted my head up so bad, I couldn’t watch TV or look at a computer monitor for 8 weeks.
I got over it. My ACL injury, has caused three more surgeries for my knee, has developed such a bad case of arthritis, I knee a full knee replacement at the age of 30. I can’t get out of bed when it is cold out without meds.
So sorry if I don’t get fully behind the whole “but the head is so much different!” movement.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
That is a pretty ironic slip up there. Need*
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
The brain is different. When you have a chance, you should read this (loosely related) series in the NY Times about Derek Boogard, a hockey enforcer. Not a hockey fan, but this was a fascinating series, and it shows the dangers of constant head injuries.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 14, 2012
The Boogard case was sad (I live here in MN, it was huge news here).
I understand that the head injuries have an effect, I just don’t see why if a guy wants to keep playing (and make sure he doesn’t get Wally Pipped), then we have no reason to say no.
I don’t like the whole “because they aren’t in a right sense of mind” argument because I see former and current non-concussed players say they want to play with concussions. I think that excuse is a cop-out.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Graham looks like the alien from Mac and Me.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
49ers need some momentum. That field goal is going to bite them in the end.
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2012
B19k’s prediction is about to come true.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Yep. Brees is getting cranked up.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
hope so
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Maybe not your 20 point win, but the TD/3 out/TD is looking good.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Told ya.
Saints by 20.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
*bowing
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
I still think Brees and the Saints pull this out, but the 49ers are playing great D on them right now.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 14, 2012
And the Saints are still moving the ball. This offense is scary good.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
AHHH! That was NICE!
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Are you kidding me? Drew Brees is ridiculous. I’d take him over Rodgers. Yeah, I said it.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 14, 2012
I agree with you.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
I thinks so too…flithy pass
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
GAME ON!
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Car!
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
More like game over.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Alcatraz is awesome. Take the ferry when you guys are in the area.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Nice throw by Smith.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
very
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Back to back drops by Crabtree.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Interesting on these Crabtree drops. Guys been playing WR how many years? Little had more catches than Julio Jones last year.
gentryholdem - January 14, 2012
Crabtree drops so many passes that ‘Drops’ should be renamed ‘Crabs’
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
And because it's a gamethread
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
hahahahaahhaahhaahahhaahaha
emily522 - January 14, 2012
You just opened up a whole new can of worms for this thread, but I like it.
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
If you post a picture in a gamethread, use the head line so it can be collapsed.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Understood…sorry, just posted baby Ben without the headline.
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
The shoe with the black trim is really special.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Have to make sure everyone know he has a boo-boo
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
boo-boo = boo-hoo.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Four Saints turnovers and the 49ers lead by 3.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Halftime adjustments are coming. 9ers wont score again.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
Saints about to tie with a FG.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
ugh

How does one become a Minion?
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Email Joe Thomas.
Brownie's Year - January 14, 2012
FUMBAAAALLLLLL!!!
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Lucky it is only a 3 pt game.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Nice sack!
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
That’s what she said….
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Frank Gore throws like a girl.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Alex Smith learned to catch from Braylon.

When this game finishes and the other one starts, switch over to this thread:
http://www.dawgsbynature.com/2012/1/14/2707393/divisional-playoffs-denver-broncos-vs-new-england-patriots
Chris Pokorny - January 14, 2012
Back in business.
Chris Pokorny - January 14, 2012
Aside from the Saints’ turnovers this is a classic matchup and display of great execution on both sides of the ball. Very impressive.
burntorangeandbrown - January 14, 2012
Hell of a game. Man, Sproles is one fast little frigging cannon ball.
burntorangeandbrown - January 14, 2012
That man is fast.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
What a throw and catch by Smith/Davis!
RyanBr - January 14, 2012
Both teams playing great. Great game all around.
burntorangeandbrown - January 14, 2012
Big mistake scoring that TD….Brees time.
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Ha! I had the same thought. I was hoping Smith didn’t step out.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Wow, what a play call.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Think Shurmer would have the balls to call that?
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Nope.
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Of course. Watch these post season games make me realize how far off the Browns are from competing at this level.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
It would have gone for a loss of two and everyone here would say it was a gutless call.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
How would that be gutless? Stupid maybe, if he didn’t set it up like SF schemed to do all game.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
It was a QB sneak on 3rd and long to set up a FG to take the lead.
Shurmur did almost the exact same thing and was murdered on here for it. San Fran’s just went for a TD because the Saints blitzed the house.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Not the same scenario, sorry.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Rams game.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Not the same scenario. Not set up the whole game like that play was.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Absolutely not.
Bernie19Kosar - January 15, 2012
Man I hope the Saints come back. Packers-Saints was the best game all season.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
Agreed. Great game.
burntorangeandbrown - January 14, 2012
I want to see that in the NFC Championship game.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
Me too. This 49ers team sucks
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2012
BREEEES TIME!
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
I want to punch that Fichigan jackwagon Harbaugh in the jaw….
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012

emily522 - January 14, 2012
I was right though…
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
I was wrong.
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
In awe of the job Harbaugh has done with this team. Definitely a better coach than QB.

emily522 - January 14, 2012
Well now I feel like a jackass.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
What a game, now the 49ers still have time to drive too.
Chris Pokorny - January 14, 2012
Wish our Brownies could play like this.
realmccoy - January 14, 2012 via mobile
No doubt. Half this good.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
They do, except we’re the 49ers in that situation.
emily522 - January 14, 2012

Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Holy crap.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
Absolutely great game.
burntorangeandbrown - January 14, 2012
What a game. My gosh.
The Licensed Optimist - January 14, 2012
Wow. Props to Davis and Alex Smith.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Smith has been great today.
Irish Brown - January 14, 2012
Alex Smith was pretty clutch.
emily522 - January 14, 2012
Hows that for statements you never think you would make.
jlsclarity - January 14, 2012
Below average QB…
Spidey - January 14, 2012
He was for a long time. Looks pretty good now.
RyanBr - January 14, 2012
He’s surprising a lot of people. I didn’t think he had either of those drives in him.
Spidey - January 14, 2012
still? I dunno about that…
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
The stat earlier with 7 OC’s in 7 years makes it pretty tough on any QB
RyanBr - January 14, 2012
Meant as a sarcastic response to comments in another thread.
Spidey - January 14, 2012
Can we transplant Harbaugh’s passion into Murmur???
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Mike singletary must feel so inept
realmccoy - January 14, 2012 via mobile
LOL. seriously though.
jlsclarity - January 14, 2012
Definitely no Harbaugh, coaching hire of the century.
Simmsinns - January 14, 2012
and brain…
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Thus ends my DBN Playoff Challenge run. I had Brees, Colston, and Graham.
Dawg Nuts - January 14, 2012
I had Brees and Graham.
Simmsinns - January 14, 2012
But wait, you can replace guys each and every week.
Simmsinns - January 14, 2012
Yeah, but you get extra points if you had them in the previous round. Now I’ll have to replace my QB, a WR, and my TE.
Dawg Nuts - January 14, 2012
Yeah, that might be why I’ve never been great at it. I’m ingrained in playing the best players week to week, rather than trying to predict the super bowl players/point multipliers.
Simmsinns - January 14, 2012
Harbaugh vs Harbaugh SB coming up…
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
Good for Alex Smith. I wonder if he’ll be comeback player of the year?
emily522 - January 14, 2012
And Harbaugh still shakes hands like a d-bag…
Kosar19 - January 14, 2012
were the Saints in prevent D on that last SF drive? …or a variant?
jlsclarity - January 14, 2012
The Saints D looked better than I expect today.
kingcrimson2 - January 14, 2012
Damn Brees passed 63 times.
