The Cleveland Browns were back on the Berea practice field for the first time since Friday afternoon, having spent Sunday looking over the film of what happened during the Saturday scrimmage. Head coach Eric Mangini told the media that because he was pleased with how everyone played, he gave the Brown Team the deciding vote on whether or not a curfew should have been placed on the White Team. The Brown Team voted for having no curfew, which means that Gerard Lawson technically didn't break curfew (he only did something much worse).
Let's get to the Day 10 training camp recap...

TRAINING CAMP REPORT - DAY 10 (8/9/10)
- Hillis is Back and Producing: After missing nearly a week of camp due to a groin injury, RB/FB Peyton Hillis returned to the practice field, meaning there's a good chance he'll see action this Saturday against the Green Bay Packers. Hillis reportedly picked up right where he left off, plowing thrown DB Chris Chancellor on a run play. Dawg Scooper notes that he beat linebackers down the sideline twice for touchdown, including one instance in which he out-ran LB Matt Roth.
- Center Blunders: Backup centers Billy Yates and Shawn Lauvao made errant snaps during practice and paid the price by having to run laps. That resulted in first-string center Alex Mack coming into the formation for a play or two when there weren't any other starters in the game.
- Ward in a Groove: It was a good end-of-practice for safety T.J. Ward, who broke up passes intended for Ben Watson and Peyton Hillis. His breakups were key in a string of consecutive incomplete passes to close out practice.
- Mixed Day for the QB's: There didn't seem to be any glowing reviews of the quarterbacks after today's practice. Seneca Wallace threw an interception to LB Eric Barton and also reportedly lost a fumble that was scooped up by S Mike Adams. Colt McCoy tried to hit WR Carlton Mitchell on a deep pass, but it was "long and wobbly" and fell incomplete. Grossi says that Jake Delhomme's passed wobbled as if they were thrown against 30 mph winds.
- Two Wildcat Plays: Dawg Scooper again dished the news on two interesting Cyclone plays the Browns ran today. On one play, Wallace was in Shotgun at quarterback with Cribbs flanked next to him. He motioned Cribbs to go near the tight end position, and then after the snap Wallace handed the ball off to WR Cartlon Mitchell who took off for positive yardage. What was the other Cyclone play mentioned? Be sure to check out Dawg Scooper for yourself (link at the bottom).
- Lawson Allowed to Practice: Despite being arrested on DUI charges, DB Gerard Lawson was allowed to practice Monday afternoon. Also, DB Brandon McDonald did not practice, as the media was told he was receiving treatment. After practice, he revealed that he didn't practice because his ankle was bothering him. Also missing from practice was LB David Bowens (knee).
- Right Side of O-Line: The right side of the offensive line on the first unit again featured Floyd Womack (RG) and John St. Clair (RT). OT Tony Pashos left practice with an undisclosed injury, but Grossi thought it looked like a shoulder injury.
- Special Teams Fake: The Browns tried to get a touchdown pass to offensive lineman Joe Thomas on a field goal fake. Punter Reggie Hodges, who serves as the holder, rolled out right and tried to toss it to Thomas. Thomas reportedly got a hand on the ball, but the pass fell incomplete. Phil Dawson also continued to drill kicks in practice, going 5-of-5.
- Brownies: DE Kenyon Coleman returned to action, and RB Montario Hardesty might be ready in a week...Mangini joked when asked what he would write about if he tweeted: "In my office ... in my office ... at practice ... in my office ... It wouldn’t be very interesting."...the team has two practices scheduled for Tuesday.

Actually, I’d prefer Asante do that to Braylon Edwards.
nosey313 - August 9, 2010
Better now?
Chris Pokorny - August 9, 2010
That is assuming Braylon Edwards will actually catch the ball.
Bernie19Kosar - August 10, 2010
He can always Hines Ward him.
Villeslgr - August 10, 2010
Asante can just help Braylon drop them by separating him from the ball.
rufio - August 10, 2010
The only reason Joe Thomas didn’t catch that ball was because the ball was too afraid to come near him.
BrownDawg1409 - August 10, 2010
Nah, It was actually a one handed diving touchdown catch followed by a 2 handed jam over the crossbar. Chris just mis-spoke.
Brownie's Year - August 10, 2010
That is a play I would love to see performed on the Sqealers. Joe deserves a TD and a SportsCenter #1 highlight play. I would like to see him inserted more as a TD producer, the mans a Beast..

thats a fantastic picture of asante…..btw has anyone who has gone to training camp noticed how much smaller alex mack is vs the rest of the OL? I’m not knocking him just observing
sleepy042 - August 10, 2010
By smaller, do you mean shorter? He’s listed at 6’3 7/8" 311lbs. That is pretty big for a center.
But I know Steinbach is 6’6" and JT is 6’7"ish and the right side of our line is pretty tall and much heavier.
rufio - August 10, 2010
just in relationship to the rest of of the starters.i got to make it to the training camp on the 5th. They had the entire OL next to the scaffold camera on the side and you could compare all of them. Pashos was tall & lean with Womack looking bubbly wubbly. Mack just seemed smaller (yes i know centers by trade are smaller) in relationship.
sleepy042 - August 10, 2010
We have some big guys out there. I like “bubbly wubbly”.
rufio - August 10, 2010
Peyton Hillis is going to be big fun on dives, if we can work him into a rotation with Montario Hardesty at halfback.
mooncamping - August 10, 2010
just realized this, Asante’s head is behind the dummy, poor form young sir.
