The Cleveland Browns will take the field tomorrow for the team's annual Brown vs. White scrimmage, where the action is treated like a real football game minus the tackling. The Brown team will have the first-team offense and the second-team defense, while the white team will have the second-team offense and the first-team defense. This allows the level of competitiveness to be a little more equal when each team takes the field.
Day 7 of training camp saw the team continue to prepare for Saturday's scrimmage at 1:00 p.m. Let's get to the recap...

TRAINING CAMP REPORT - DAY 7 (8/6/10)
- Scrimmage Preview: To prepare for Saturday, the coaches had the Brown team face the White team during practice on Friday. Then, on Friday night, each side was scheduled to go and watch video on the opposing "team," just like they would if they were preparing for a real team.
- Lack of Words: Most of the recaps around the Internet focused on declaring who was on the Brown and White teams, rather than discussing what happened during practice. Another reason for that might have been because practice ended about 30 minutes early, according to Dawg Scooper. Anyway, it's important to know who is on which team since it gives an indication of the team's "true" depth chart right now. Here's a look:
- Brown Offense (aka First-Team):
QB: Jake Delhomme, Brett Ratliff
RB: Jerome Harrison, James Davis
FB: Lawrence Vickers
WR: Mohamed Massaquoi, Brian Robiskie, Chansi Stuckey, Carlton Mitchell, Johnathan Haggerty
TE: Ben Watson, Robert Royal
LT: Joe Thomas
LG: Eric Steinbach
C: Alex Mack
RG: Floyd Womack
RT: John St. Clair
- White Offense (aka Second-Team):
QB: Seneca Wallace, Colt McCoy
RB: Chris Jennings
FB: (probably A. Smith)
WR: Joshua Cribbs, Bobby Engram, Syndric Steptoe
TE: Evan Moore, Alex Smith
LT: Scott Kooistra
LG: Casey Bender
C: Billy Yates
RG: Shawn Lauvao
RT: Tony Pashos
- White Defense (aka First-Team):
DE: Robaire Smith
DT: Ahtyba Rubin
DE: Derreck Robinson, Brian Sanford
OLB: Scott Fujita
ILB: Chris Gocong
ILB: D'Qwell Jackson
OLB: Matt Roth
CB: Eric Wright
S: Abram Elam, Larry Asante
S: T.J. Ward
CB: Sheldon Brown
- Brown Defense (aka Second-Team):
DE: Titus Adams
DT: Kwaku Danso
DE: Clifton Geathers
OLB: David Bowens
ILB: Eric Barton
ILB: Kaluka Maiava
OLB: Jason Trusnik
CB: Joe Haden, DeAngelo Smith
S: Ray Ventrone
S: Nick Sorensen
CB: Brandon McDonald
- Roster Comments: I'm not sure where safety Mike Adams is on the list, as no one mentioned him. Also, Kenyon Coleman wasn't practicing, and was replaced by a combination of Derreck Robinson and Brian Sanford on the first team. Out of all the positions, the right side of the offensive line stands out: as of now, it looks like Floyd Womack and John St. Clair will play with the first team. K Phil Dawson will play for both teams.
- No Picks for Delhomme: The veteran quarterback didn't have a repeat performance of Thursday, as Jake Delhomme did not throw an interception during Friday's practice. He reportedly came close to throwing one to Eric Wright, but the pass fell incomplete since Chansi Stuckey was wrestling for the ball too. Wright seems to be making a lot of plays on the football this camp, at least when he's facing Delhomme.
Delhomme connected on touchdown passes to Mohamed Massaquoi and Brian Robiskie.
- McDonald Makes Plays: Cornerback Brandon McDonald might just find his way back on my next 53-man roster posting. He jumped high in the air to intercept a pass intended for Joshua Cribbs down the sideline. He's making the most out of his demoted role.
- Rule Discussions: A few NFL officials were at practice to describe some of the rule changes to the team. They'll also be at the scrimmage tomorrow to officiate the game.
- Still Not Practicing: Punter Dave Zastudil was back on the field, but he still did not practice. Additional surgery is still an option according to reports, but Zastudil hopes it doesn't come down to that. Reggie Hodges should assume the punting duties Saturday.
- Practice Video: Dawg Scooper shot some more practice footage during their Friday afternoon trip. Click here to check it out.

One more tidbit before I conclude today's recap, and it comes via CBS Sports' Rapid Reports via a quote by backup quarterback Seneca Wallace:
Seneca Wallace on teaming with Josh Cribbs in the Wildcat: "It's going to be tough for defenses to scheme. We can both throw, run and catch, and that's a dangerous combination. It's going to be frustrating for defensive coordinators."
No Hillis?
golanbatrac - August 6, 2010
He’s still questionable with an injury.
Chris Pokorny - August 6, 2010
Ah. Last I had heard he was getting Hardesty’s reps. It’s hard to keep up with all the sprains and dings.
golanbatrac - August 6, 2010
Or maybe you just skim the reports?
Brownie's Year - August 7, 2010
You mean all of the reports that say Hillis has been getting a ton of reps with the first team?
golanbatrac - August 7, 2010
All the reports? He’s been out since Monday.
Brownie's Year - August 7, 2010
What part of ‘last I had heard’ do you not understand?
golanbatrac - August 7, 2010
Don’t get an attitude. I was letting you know he hasn’t practice since Monday because you didn’t know he was hurt. K?
Brownie's Year - August 7, 2010
to be fair, “Or maybe you just skim the reports?” could be construed as getting an attitude.
notthatnoise - August 7, 2010
St. Clair is first team?? We can only hope Lauvao really does get the starting RG position so Pork Chop can start at RT.
StuckInPa - August 6, 2010
No Veikune?
TheRealSlimShady - August 6, 2010
The cut is coming.
TheDriveStillHurts - August 6, 2010
Perhaps.
Chris Pokorny - August 6, 2010
I kinda have to agree because Veikune has been subbing in for Maiava, who is on the second team defense on the inside with Barton.
theW0LF - August 7, 2010
By the way, if a player isn’t listed, they are either injured, or I didn’t see any report telling what team they will be on. For example, Joel Reinders is probably on one of the teams, but I don’t know which one.
Chris Pokorny - August 6, 2010
I do not recall which team Reinders was on because I was too focused on who the starters for each unit were because as you said, that is a clue as to how the depth chart is lining up as of right now.
theW0LF - August 7, 2010
It’s possible that Joel Gamble is playing FB for the White Team because he played that position in his pre-NFL career.
Bumblyjack - August 7, 2010
I saw Alex Smith playing FB during practice.
theW0LF - August 7, 2010
It’s interesting (maybe only to me) that the right side of the second team OL looks stronger than the left side…and possibly the first team’s right side too.
Bumblyjack - August 7, 2010
Is there anyway that this game can be streamed/saved/ or reposted somewhere?
J. W. - August 7, 2010
I was wondering the same thing, I am hoping that the local channel airing this can cast it on the web because it isn’t an actual NFL game.
rufio - August 7, 2010
Wish I could help, but I’m in Canton covering the Hall of Fame induction tonight and the HOF game tomorrow for BleacherReport.com.
I really wish that I could have been at the scrimmage, but meeting Jerry Rice and hopefully meeting TO and Ocho are pretty darn cool too.
theW0LF - August 7, 2010
Jerry Rice is awesome.
rufio - August 7, 2010
I was wondering how the Browns would try to stay on top of their own futility this year, considering they have some decent players. These are totally screwed up line-ups. How do you want to work through this?
mooncamping - August 7, 2010
The most entertaining unit of the game will be the second team offense. Intentionally pairing Cribbs and Wallace may give the fans a peek at all the options they present. Is it hot air? Or will the pairing really deliver an exciting Wildcat offensive element to the season. My guess is the latter. Last year Cribbs was pretty good in the Wildcat without Wallace, and offensive ineptitude of the base offense. Maybe this year it will be even better with Seneca and more consistency out of the base offense.
QQ – does anyone know if it will be 1v1 or 1v2?
realmccoy - August 7, 2010
it looks like 1v1, since one team has the first team offense and second team defense, and its the opposite for the other team.
notthatnoise - August 7, 2010
Stats from the scrimmage are out. We suck.
Brownie's Year - August 7, 2010
An article on NFL.com says Delhomme did fine.
emily522 - August 7, 2010
And I read about McCoy’s 2 INTs. My reaction? This is why he’ll be our third string QB learning behind a veteran for at least this season.
emily522 - August 7, 2010
McCoy threw 2 INT’s and still had a better day than Tebow:
Haha.
golanbatrac - August 7, 2010
That is awful.
emily522 - August 8, 2010
awful funny.
notthatnoise - August 8, 2010
StuckInPa - August 8, 2010
This.
SpecialBrownie - August 8, 2010
I meant the haircut is awful, not the fact that they made him get it.
emily522 - August 8, 2010
It’s a scrimmage that doesn’t involve tackling.
Roger Dorn - August 7, 2010
I know.
Brownie's Year - August 7, 2010
out where? able to post a link or a web address?
bross09 - August 7, 2010
I’ll have my write-up with some of my thoughts on the scrimmage up in a little bit.
