Depending on your tastes, that could be a rather large field of candidates. Eliminate ouzo (it’s not bad, but has no business getting near my coffee) and the list is still pretty extensive.

A big group of us from college went there 2 years — 2000 and 2001. We rented a house right on the beach and about a mile down from all the party hotels and bars. It was awesome. We had a nice, quiet place to hang out by the water during the day and we could walk down to the parties at night.

The funniest thing is is when you look at underage people’s facebook pictures and they deliberately pose with beer cans in their hands as if to say, “Look at me! Look at me! I’m such a rebel.”

It can actually hurt you a lot more from a physical standpoint if you binge drink when you are young vs. when you are of age, so that’s probably a great mindset for you to have. At least for now.

this, do your own thing TRSS. I started probably my senior year of high school or so. I had plenty of friends that didn’t though and nobody ever gave them a hard time.

I thought that at 15. When you get older, you will find something you like. No rush.

Anything in moderation (other than heroin, crack and meth) is good for you.

Yeah, I wasn’t trying to generalize about the rebellious thing. People do it for obvious reasons but for many it seems… actually I honestly don’t know the motivation for it.

I see your point and I do agree. especially in high school, it is a rebellious thing. in college, it ends up being more of a social thing, though its not at all mandatory and very rarely is there a ton of pressure to drink.

the problem is that kids don’t know their limit because, 1) they don’t have experience drinking and therefore don’t know how their bodies will react, and 2) they haven’t matured. at least those who reach the age of 21 have a better chance of having matured more, although i know there are exceptions. its also been shown that the younger you start drinking, the more prone you are to problem drinking or alcoholism.

i’m a probation officer, you’re not going to sell me on an argument that underage drinking is okay.

I would add that kids that young are also obviously having to get their drinks in when they can which i think also creates an unhealthy drinking environment (that sounds weird) where there is no concern for responsibility and alcohol is just a tool to get wasted. In my opinion if you learn to treat alcohol like that when you’re young you’re going to be in a world of hurt when you’re either in college on your own or out in the world on your own and making your own choices regarding alcohol.

Unfortunately like other things in our society the goal seems to be deny deny deny and then we wind up with uniformed immature teenagers trying to behave like they think adults behave.

a couple quick google searches said the highest in europe was 44% and the third highest was 36%, with most other countries being in the mid 30’s. in america, its 48%. I’d say a 10% decrease in binge drinking is significant.

A lot of the kids at school out here are of the “Mommy and Daddy never paid attention to me and I am wealthy and now I am at school so I am going to try to emulate Paris Hilton” variety.

all you have to do to see the psychological factor at work is look at prohibition. drinking went up during prohibition, probably because the illegality of it made it exciting. thats what we see with america’s youth.

I also think it’s age discrimination. According to the government you are a full citizen at 18. why, then, do i not have all the rights of an adult?

The Roaring Twenties were also a very poor time to try the experiment.

yeah, i know it wasn’t the intention, but i was a little offended at the generalization that all people who drink in high school were doing it to be cool or rebellious. maybe we did it for the same reason college kids and other young adults do it, because its fun.

yeah. I agree. I rarely drink by myself and rarely did it because it was taboo. In fact my dad had very loose rules about drinking

a) if you drink, DON’T DRIVE

b) If you drove, then drank, Call me.

c) I don’t care if you drink, smoke, or do any sort of drugs, just don’t bring it into the house.

when I was a teen, my dad told me stories of stuff he did, not as a suggestion, but just to point out that it would be hypocritical for him to oppose it. He trusted that I would be responsible and I never drank and drove.

Maybe it doesn’t have appeal to me as something taboo because it never really was in my house.

I thought I had said that everyone I knew in HS who drank. Not everyone in HS that drinks ever.

My school’s private and has a strict policy on stuff like this. Not even kidding: if you go to a party where there’s alcohol and they find out (& can prove it), you’re expelled. Even if you didn’t take a sip.

So many of the people who do it are the “popular” kids who think they’re awesome for being so rebellious.

yeah. private schools are like that. I know someone who came to my public school because the situation (even the not taking a sip) happened to him.

I went to a relatively small public school, about 600 students total (150 per class for the less math inclined). the school didn’t really care about drinking. if they could prove you drank at a party, you might get a couple detentions. If you were on a sports team, however, you got suspended for 25% of the season, but that might be an ohio thing, not necessarily school specific.

cliques were almost non-existent. sure, everybody had their specific group of friends, but everybody hung out with everybody, and that carried over to parties.

A lot of the college experience is honestly overrated IMO. The best part of the college experience is hanging out with friends on campus or doing club stuff, but you don’t miss out on that as a commuter usually. I am going to miss buffalo, but mostly I am going to miss my friends, the clubs I was in, and just chilling. The parties…meh.

I think it’s players realizing that they are on a less than stellar team that quite possibly might be lining itself up for a bright future. I think they are hoping that they can get a good contract due to the lower talent level on the team. I think Delhomme’s contract is more to blame than Cribbs.

Delhomme’s contract is not a whole lot for a starting QB.

I’m referring to the fact that we gave him a deal and a starting position after his recent performances. I think some of the guys are looking to get good contracts based off of their perceptions of Delhomme’s deal. While some might see it as a hope that a once competent QB can return to some measure of his past, I think the players see it as a signing of a less than stellar replacement player, which in my opinion is how the team probably views alot of those guys.

I just don’t think they’re sitting at home realistically comparing themselves and what they did last year to what Cribbs did.

Also, on some level I think these guys have an idea that they could be replaceable and are looking to test the FO and see just how replaceable they are. I guess we’ll all find out soon enough.

I think these guys’ desire for a long-term deal has less to do with the “we’ve earned it” and more to do with “I should have already hit free agency and received a $5million signing bonus”

Delhomme took a pay cut to stop playing with the Panthers and start playing with us.

Plus, they can. It doesn’t cost them anything to ask and none of them are likely to get cut before the 15 June deadline, so why not? It doesn’t hurt to ask.

The general attitude is more: they have no leverage whatsoever so just wait until June 15 and they’ll have to sign their tenders. The worst that can happen is they sit out the year in which case they’re right back to where they started. They can either sign a tender or retire. Not much of a choice.

what has Nugent EVER done. Look at the kicking stats. Suisham has been a better kicker throughout his career. Noodge had one solid season (his second) then fell off the map.

I bet you, if Nugent wasn’t an OSU guy, you wouldn’t be saying this…Neither one is that superior over the other, though suisham has a bit better stats in every kicking category. The only thing Noodge is good at doing is the easy kicks. after 40 yards, he is pretty bad and after 50 yards, just close your eyes and pray. He is phil dawson without the accuracy.

Nugent is very funny and has some really good songs.

I had a roommate freshman year who LOVED ted nugent.

He was really conservative, he used the N word all the time (after checking to make sure no dark people were around, of course), and he was really in to “being a man” and “hot chicks”. He was bigoted in every way imaginable.

But he had never lifted weights in his life, he hated football and almost all sports, I am pretty sure he got his nails done routinely, he giggled like a schoolgirl, and he wouldn’t drink beer so he drank wine coolers (because of course, being a man means getting drunk). He also refused to stand up and fight me “like a man” after he called me a jap.

That’s my Ted Nugent fan experience.

That’s a pretty good summary of most all Nugent fans.

i think the most hilarious thing about all of this is that you claimed at one point that you were attempting to become an improv comedian, yet you are often the very last person, literally, to get the jokes on here.

that, my friend, is comedy gold.

As a comedian, they want you to do other things besides comedy. Write us a script. Act in this sitcom." They want me to do shit that’s related to comedy, but it’s not comedy, man. It’s as though if I was a cook, and I worked my ass off to become a really good cook, and they said "alright you’re a cook… can you farm?

getting a joke on the internet and performing and learning improvisational comedy are pretty unrelated and do not take similar skills.

I get jokes face to face, I just understand a lot and learn a lot from people by their facial expressions and tone, which plays a big factor into improv…

and people also misconstrue improv as “whose line” where they are just constantly making jokes. that is one type, short form, because the scenes are short. I personally like long form which lets you develop a story, characters, and more emotions. it relies less on the (albeit fun) “cheap gags” and more on developing characters on the spot and truly creating scenes out of nothing.

So what you’re saying is throughout this thread you’ve been developing a story?

You would also be good coming to Motown if you are meaning that you may not have any memory of what transpired while you were there. The flashes in between are always fun that you can remember. Good stories to tell anyways.
