Players will receive 5 points for every first place vote, 4 for every second place, and so on. They will receive 0 points if they are unranked. Total points from all ballots will be added, and the 5 players with the most votes will be taken out of the pool of available players and put up on the big board.

I don’t think he fits very well in a 3-4. Right now we have two guys who are supposed to be pretty good going forward. If we were to draft an OLB it should be a guy who has some coverage ability. plus theres tons of more pressing needs.

Not nearly as good as Jerry Hughes or Brandon Graham. Though I doubt we draft any of them. Mangini really likes bigger slower outside linebackers and Belicheck never drafts rush OLBs in the first round. Hopefully Mangini learned his lesson with Vernon Gohlston. Luckily we won’t have to pay the price for that mistake.

This is Heckert’s draft.
What is this based on? Victor Hobson, Clavin Pace, and Bryan Thomas were his OLB’s in NY. They are all speed guys. I would add Wimbley in there also.
Are you basing this all off of Roth and Bowens?

I wouldn’t call Gocong a plodder either. He ran a 4.7 at the combine and is only 265 lbs, not that big.

Theres no way heckert picks a defensive guy that mangini isn’t interested in.
Belicheck and Mangini often eschew smaller speed rushers (240 lbs) for bigger more physical OLBs (Roth, Bowens, Gocong, Willie McGinest, Rosevelt Colvin) Its just the style of defense they play, you want 3 bigger stronger linebackers and then one inside linebacker who is a bit smaller and faster is ideal.

Yes sir. I’m in love with the idea of him in the early 2nd to us, but I think the latest he goes is to Minnesota at 30. If it’s possible, I wouldn’t mind trading down to the early 20’s to get Colt. If we were to somehow walk away with Berry or Earl Thomas and Colt McCoy, I would be really satisfied.

Speaking of prospects, the Browns visited with Rutgers CB Devin McCourty today. I don’t know much about him, but he seems like an interesting pick if he falls to the second round. Grossi said he’s projected to go between 20 and 30.
What do people think about him?

I would love to see us pick up a quality CB. I’m not sure whether I would with a 2nd round pick, but I’m not running the show either. He could get some playing time in Nickel and Dime formations while learning behind Wright and Brown.

I read it as the player on the right is the player he would prefer over the player on the left.
Clausen over Bradford
McCoy over Claussen
Also they are two separate big boards.
On his board Clausen is 3 while on ours he is 15. I think when he got down to the 15 spot he forgot it was a list of players that he preferred and just listed McCoy as being 15 on his board.

As a consultant, if you´re not willing to get the blue chip clear cut talent Jimmy Clausen at number one (not saying he won´t fall, but you must indicate top tier interest), the wishing well goes way down. Unless you dedicate yourself to future starting quarterback at highest possible slot (quarterbacks deserve this nod), such as Tim Hiller…or another lesser known and hyped annointed one.
Tim Tebow has not seen a lot of appreciation around here. Colt McCoy is a decoy, I´m certain. And Sam Bradford is collateral. It´s only clever if you get away with it.

Perhaps, but it is fun on draft day to look at a comprehensive guide of 50 players and say, “Okay, according to the cumulative crop of Browns fans, we want [this] player.” The board may only apply for rounds one and two, but perhaps a few players will creep down to round three as well.
