2010 DBN Big Board-Top 5

The votes are in, and after 771 votes our DBN Big Board slots 1-5 are as follows:

1. Eric Berry--2853 total points
2. Ndamukong Suh--2421 total points
3. Sam Bradford--1770 total points
4. Joe Haden--1240 total points
5. Gerald McCoy--848 total points

The next closest player had 363 total points.  Berry finished with 267 first-place votes right behind Suh, who had 268.

On to the 6-10 slots!

Star-divide

Our Draft Board

Our draft board will be a ranking of the players that are draft eligible, from best to worst.  It should also take need, value, and character into account--if you think these things should be taken into account at all.  If you always want the best player available, just rank them from best to worst.

For more information, see the initial Big Board post.

Instructions

Rank the top five available players. Take talent, value, need, and character into account if you think the Browns should take these things in to account when drafting.

Players will receive 5 points for every first place vote, 4 for every second place, and so on.  They will receive 0 points if they are unranked.  Total points from all ballots will be added, and the 5 players with the most votes will be taken out of the pool of available players and put up on the big board.

This is not a mock draft.

Don't predict what will happen

Don't think about other teams

Don't worry about who is available. Assume everyone you can vote for is available.  (I will take players out of the vote-able pool once we put them on the board)

Just rank your guys in the order you would like to see them drafted by the Browns.

For instance, I think the top five players purely in terms of talent are:

1. Ndamukong Suh, DT

2. Eric Berry, S

3. Gerald McCoy, DT

4. Sam Bradford, QB

5. Anthony Davis, OT

Because of need, value, and character, my first ballot will look like this:

1. Suh

2. Berry

3. Bradford

4. Earl Thomas

5. Rolando McClain

Please vote only once.

Using the Scouts Inc. rankings (yes, I am aware of how much you hate Todd McShay) I will compile a pool of 25 draft eligible players.  We will take a poll and rank players five at a time. New polls will happen every two days or so until the draft.

If there are players you think I should include in the draft-eligible pool--especially if they aren't coming up in McShay's rankings, let me know and I will put them in for the next poll.  Thanks for voting!

All,

Sorry about the number errors in the poll above. The options in the poll should read 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

FYI you have six players listed in your sample top five.

I’ll edit it when I get to my CPU a little later.

Brandon Graham
Earl Thomas
Rolando McClain
Mike Iupati
Dan Williams

Iupati
Price
Graham
Bulaga
Morgan

Browns stay put select Haden

My predicton. They will trade away more pics to get even more pics in future drafts. Dont be surprised if they dont trade down again. The quarterback they want (Bradford) is never going to be available to them at any price. They will select Haden or trade down to acquire pics.

Dez Bryant

That will be a bust pick for whomever selects him.

I’d take him after pick 15 or so, but no thanks in the top ten.

I generally don’t like taking receivers in the top ten, unless they are a truly special talent. They’re just too dependent on the rest of the team, and if you’re picking in the top ten, the rest of your team is not very good.

McClain
Lupati
Morgan
Graham
Williams, Dan

FYI – I believe your second guy’s name starts with an i. (Iupati)

No offense.

Oops.

I thought it was Lupati too. It’s okay

D. Williams

Just so you know...

i’m not trying to throw water on the Eric Berry parade but i realized this morning that Seattle could be a major factor in CLE trying to get him. When Pete Carroll took over the Seahawks he retained DC Gus Bradley who was recommended to the post (for Mora’s staff) last year by Monte Kiffin. Kiffin of course was Berry’s DC at Tennessee last year & the Seahawks are retaining the basic Cover-2 system for 2010 its the offense that is expected to be overhauled. Another factor is the fact that SEA only has 2 Safeties on their roster at the moment. Yes i realized that Carrol could opt for Mays with his 2nd pick & go a variety of ways with #6 but i just wanted to float that out for everyone.

this has already been discussed a lot. Some of us believe the browns may trade up a couple spots to leapfrog seattle. the rest of us just hope seattle doesn’t take the player we want, like last year when they took Curry.

Now the rumours have Washington taking Berry at 4, and if not the Chiefes definitely at 5

Berry to Washington makes the least sense to me.

Washington needs an Offensive tackle or a QB, vastly more important positions than safety. Berry would be a stupid pick for them.

Kansas City has a need for the position and could take berry. However Scott Pioli is a huge believer in positional value and loves to make sure his offensive line is done before anything else. He could take an Offensive tackle and upgrade 3 positions on his offensive line at once. I heavily doubt that he would draft a safety so high.

KC and Seattle are the two teams that worry me.

Seattle definitely worries me. KC not nearly as much so, unless somehow both okung and bulaga are both off the board. However, Trent Williams would still be an option, and one of the DTs would be there as well.

holmgren

Holmgren’s List (and therefore Mangini’s):
1.) Brandford
2.) Suh
3.) Berry

talk about inside information!

Good news everyone, Holmgren has been getting my telepathic commands and they’re working. Who’s up for some fun? I’m thinking there will be a lot of public slapping of non-Browns AFC North personnel this year…

According to Todd McShay, Earl Thomas ran a 4.35 at his pro day and eric mangini is there watching McCoy as well as everyone else.

Earl Thomas
Mike Iupati
Kyle Wilson
Brandon Graham
Kareem Jackson

Dez Bryant
Rolando McClain

Jason Pierre-Paul
