Per Jay Glazer (with a nod to Dorn) has the Quinn deal.
Peyton Hillis and 2 conditional draft choices for Brady Quinn.
According to Schefter the picks are a 6th rounder in '11 and a late round pick in '12.
Adam Caplan of Sirius is reporting that the Browns have also traded Kamerion Wimbley for undisclosed draft pick.
i was going to post this by using pro football talk but then i went on and they say glazer is saying this. if pft said this. wouldnt believe it
Lancers25 - March 14, 2010
pft has been reliable on all their trades, some of the other rumors, i am sceptical
rockybrown - March 14, 2010
sounds like a decent deal, hope brady starts and we get some good picks. peyton hillis will be a good short yardage back
rockybrown - March 14, 2010
Roger Dorn - March 14, 2010
Yuck.
Bernie19Kosar - March 14, 2010
what did you expect?
rockybrown - March 14, 2010
Why not keep him until the draft if that was the best we could do?
I imagine someone will get desperate for a QB and we could have used Quinn to move up.
I like Hillis, but I don’t think he is any great shakes or anything.
Bernie19Kosar - March 14, 2010
I think this is pretty good value. After the Shaun Hill trade, I was convinced that a 7th was his value.
gahnki - March 14, 2010
Denver probably valued him more than anyone, and that’s who we dealt with. I doubt his value goes up before the first rash of injuries after the start of the season.
golanbatrac - March 14, 2010
The draft picks are lower than I’d thought. They must be high on Hillis. I’m still hoping we can use some picks to get a Strong Safety before the draft.
We might have bent the raiders over the table, who knows.
jaws. - March 14, 2010
I like Hillis as a compliment to Harrison. Big Powerful Back that will be great for short yard and goal line. Now we dont have to draft a RB early.
Skov17 - March 14, 2010
plus he is a good blocker and can spell Vickers too.
bross09 - March 14, 2010
who can’t spell vickers? it isn’t that hard of a name…
Dawg Nuts - March 14, 2010
Hillis is from Arkansas. I’ll be tickled if he can spell his own name.
golanbatrac - March 14, 2010
I meant relieve for a spell.
bross09 - March 15, 2010
You made me laugh so hard I woke up the baby.
North Coast Flea - March 15, 2010
only thing I’m bummed about is that he got traded to one of my least favorite teams. I was hoping the bills or some team I didn’t mortally despise.
jaws. - March 14, 2010
If he ever ends up playing for them, you will certainly be glad he’s on a team you don’t like.
gahnki - March 14, 2010
true dat. but I still believe he can be good. I hope he doesn’t put them over the hump.
jaws. - March 14, 2010
I would have liked him in Buffalo. That is a team I can respect. Very similar to the Browns. Blue collar cold weather team with a rich history.
Skov17 - March 14, 2010
Yeah, and I’m still holding out hope that we get Donte Whitner. He’d be perfect on this team next to Eric Berry (broken record)
jaws. - March 14, 2010
Or, more likely, no NFL GM is as high on Quinn as you are.
Buckeye Brad - March 14, 2010
I’ll laugh if he is even adequate for them.
jaws. - March 14, 2010
Why? You keep saying that he can still be a good QB, but now you say you’ll laugh if he’s even adequate for them? I’m confused.
Buckeye Brad - March 14, 2010
I think he might mean in an i told you so way.
Villeslgr - March 14, 2010
I don’t think Quinn being adequate would be an “I told you so” — I think Quinn can be an adequate QB but jaws said he’ll be better than that.
Of course, I guess it all depends on if he has another QB looking over his shoulder, because we all know a QB can’t peform if he’s being challenged by a backup. They should just release all their other QB’s and hand the job to Quinn.
Buckeye Brad - March 14, 2010
That wasn’t my position, it just seemed the only way that statement made sense.
Villeslgr - March 14, 2010
I understand, I was just commenting on why I didn’t think his statement made sense.
Buckeye Brad - March 15, 2010
Apparently Adam Caplan is reporting Wimbley was just traded to the Raiders. Trying to find a link…what the heck is going on.

golanbatrac - March 14, 2010
Look at Hillis’ stats. 5 yards per carry and 100 yards for every 20 carries. And at 6’2" 250, we may have a beast here.
Brownie's Year - March 14, 2010
i agree
rockybrown - March 14, 2010
yeah…you can criticize last year, but he got buried in the depth chart. He got PT in ’08 b/c of that rash of injuries to the broncos RBs and he played well. He was also a rookie that season too which makes it more impressive.
In 2009, the Broncos drafted a RB in the first round. obviously this RB is going to get a lot of carries and he did. Then they got 2 veteran backup RBs in Lamont Jordan and Corell Buckhalter. Buckhalter and Jordan played a lot and pushed Hillis out of the RB rotation. he didn’t get as many touches b/c he played primarily at FB. the year before, he played some at HB too. he can play both and is in a way a poor man’s LeRon McClain.
bross09 - March 14, 2010
You realize you are just saying the same thing twice, right? I mean you really just repeated your first statement with your second.

RelapsingDawgCatcher - March 14, 2010
A lot said they would give up a late round pick for him.
emily522 - March 14, 2010
they said they probably wouldn’t take him for a 5th…we got a 6th (granted in a year), Hillis, and a conditional in 2012. I would say that is more than a 5th.

Slow your roll, nrother...
It wasn’t a “Brady Quinn is the next Tom Brady” comment. It was a simple joke about how we have 2 QBs on the roster, Tom Brandstater and Brady Quinn, and that Coach McD can make the ultimate Tom Brady clone. That’s it.
Anyhow, this is a great day for your team, Browns fans. Although you lose your home-town hero in Quinn, you gain a helluva RB in Hillis. He was a fan favorite, and left alot of Broncos Country in shock when he didn’t play last year. For whatever reason, Coach didn’t see what the fans saw, and now he is all yours. I can say this with conviction…Peyton Hillis will be a great back for the Browns. He might remind some of you of a player from the Browns heydey, Ernest Byner. Tough, between the tackles bruiser, and has some giddyup.
We do hope Quinn can be coached up by McD and Co. I did like him coming out of ND, and when the whole McJayGate deal went down last year, I was hoping for BQ. Time will tell, I guess.
I hope my comment isn’t deemed trollish. I just wanted to set that little remark straight. Good luck Brownies!

Dawg Nuts - March 14, 2010
or draft a qb in round 2 or 3.
Roger Dorn - March 14, 2010
More likely given Holmgren’s track record. He’s only used a 1st once on a QB, and that was via trade.
golanbatrac - March 14, 2010
Yeah. No way they sign Jake the Crepe and still not grab a new QB.
Brownie's Year - March 14, 2010
This.
emily522 - March 14, 2010
I actually think this is good for all involved, except for Kyle Orton. Though I wish we could have gotten a higher guaranteed pick, we still picked up 2 draft picks and a potential contributor at running back. Brady gets a chance for another team far away from the local boy drama he has endured and Denver gets a QB who could possibly challenge Orton.
All Orton gets is another QB competition. Orton has to have had one of the most stressful NFL QB careers.
All that said, it’s key we hit on our next “Future” QB after officially starting over at that position for the 20th time.

Not a bad deal. I liked wimbley but he was too much of an underachiever.
I think both teams got a good deal. I have heard that the raiders have been looking for a pass rusher.
I also think that early third round is about as much as the browns could get for wimbley. he had a solid season but was highly inconsistent and was not effective rushing the passer by the end of the season.
Oakland got a decent deal, just in the fact that you didn’t get completely hosed.
