Fans who were hoping to see linebacker Scott Fujita make a triumphant return for at least one of the team's final two games will be disappointed to hear that he was placed on the injured reserve, ending his season.
In his first year with the Browns, Fujita was having a career year. Before he was hurt early in Week 10 against the New York Jets, Fujita had registered 51 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 1 interception, and 2 forced fumbles. More importantly, the Browns' run defense seemed pretty stout at the time and were keeping opposing backs out of the end zone.

Since Fujita's absence, the Browns have struggled containing running backs on Jacksonville, Carolina, Buffalo, and Cincinnati. Coincidence? One man isn't entirely responsible for a team's success against the run, but he might have been that veteran presence other players relied on to make sure everybody was in the right spot prior to the ball being snapped. Hopefully he recovers fine from his knee injury and is good-to-go for next season. The team also placed cornerback Eric Wright on the injured reserve.
With two open roster spots, the team signed NT Travis Ivey from their practice squad and LB Steve Octavien, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys. It looks like Octavien would contribute only on special teams if active. I know we're facing two big opponents coming up, but it'd still be nice to get a look at DE/LB Jayme Mitchell. It's not like Mitchell is a complete rookie; this is already his fourth year in the league.

Bummer, I think you hit the nail on the head Chris. It wasn’t that he was making all the stops, but was orchestrating the defense.

Although I’m sure Fujita will be back strong next year this is the one position I’d love to see us draft on D- a boss for the Front 7.

I agree. I prefer an OLB, but all could be upgraded

I don“t know. Work Eric Alexander and Steve Octavien into the lineup at outside linebacker and Tyler Clutts into the running back rotation with Lawrence Vickers and Peyton Hillis, within the reduced vigil regarding playoff trajectory performance standards?

Why would you want a guy named “Clutts” carrying the football?

I bet his school coaches were asking the same question.

His parents had to get some mileage out of it.

In other news, I am curious if Rob has the same fetishes as his brother.

I was listening to a sports show this morning in the car (“Mad Dog Radio” – on XM).
They were talking about the whole ‘footsie’ thing with Ryan and his wife. I was almost in tears laughing.
At one point the guy said “The Ryan’s may have kick started a new fad” and I almost had a wreck.
Then right after that someone called in and said something about “Ryan being careful about putting his foot in his mouth”… I almost had to pull over at that point. My gut is still sore.

Rob can have all the fetishes he wants, just don’t make them public. I couldn’t give a darn what anyone does behind closed doors, but that’s where it needs to stay.

Too bad about Fujita. Like others have said, I think he was a reliable veteran presence that made everyone else play better. Losing him definitely hut our defense.
As for Rex, who cares what the guy is into? He didn’t drag this out into public, it was probably some sleazy journalist just hoping for a lot of views because people see “REX RYAN.”.

need look no further than the hated team down the turnpike to see how much one player can have an affect on an entire deffense, even an elite deffense
