In a series of tailgating-related posts that we started last week, we asked for some of your memorable moments in brutal weather conditions. I'd like to thank those who gave their input!
This week, we have a much broader topic that you can discuss: Your Favorite Tailgating Food. When you've been to a Cleveland Browns game (or perhaps other football games), what is on your "must-have" list before the game? Is it a simple hamburger or hot dog, or a more elaborate feast? Share with us your food-related moments, whether it involved you preparing scrumptious food for others or you being someone's guest.

Portabella Sandwich:
The night before the game:
1 Bottle Balsamic Vinegar
1 teaspoon Rosemary
3 tablespoon Brown Sugar
Mix in a large flat bottomed container. Add two large stemmed portabella mushrooms (dome up so the vinegar/rosemary/brown sugar mix gets sucked up and into the mushroom). Refrigerate.
Game Day:
Throw both mushrooms on the grill (dome down for a couple of minutes and then dome up for a couple of minutes). Melt 1 slice of provalone on each and serve on sourdough bread.
Delicious. Simple to make. Non-perishable.

brats, peppers, onions, simmered in beer on the grill and then thrown over the fire for the last couple minutes to make them crisp.
Just bought our tickets for the Browns v. Panthers game. My little brothers 21st birthday is the day before the game. I will be trying out some of these recipes so let’s hear them folks!!
Golan – I love portabella shrooms so this one is going in the book!

We’re only two people in, but a word of advice: don’t read this thread if you haven’t eaten lunch yet. Now I’m really starving!

Bacon explosion. Too hard to describe, so here it is:

I have used ground beef in the past rather than sausage.

I’ve also heard of people trying to sneak cheese in there somewhere, but I have no idea why. It’s perfect as-is.

I’m guessing that I’d agree completely.
By the way, when I reposted the picture the above one was a broken image.

Oh well, it is worth looking at twice.
Simmsinns - November 6, 2010
