DBN Fantasy Football League: November Update

There is one game left in the regular season of the Official Dawgs By Nature Fantasy Football League. Unfortunately, my reign as the two year regular season champion will end, and chances are that I will fail to make the playoffs. Our league is structured so that the playoffs take place Weeks 14-16, and six teams make it. The top two seeds get a bye. Which DBN members are in the hunt?

Star-divide

There are three divisions with four teams each. It just happened to be that the three best teams in the league all fall into one division and have clinched the top three spots. Currently, each of those teams have a 9-3 record. They are golanbatrac, rufio, and Buckeye Brad. Two of those teams will earn a first-round bye. Whoever the third team is will be the top seed in the first round of the playoffs.

This week, rufio takes on golanbatrac. If Brad is able to win his game, then he'll have the benefit of one of the two teams above him knocking each other out of the bye week. All three owners have something to play for.

In the other two divisions, all three of four teams are still alive in the chase for the division title. And, based on how the Week 13 schedule is set up, it looks like every single team still had a slight chance to snatch the final wildcard spot, even me. But, I would need all six games this week to go my way, plus I'd have to make sure I win a few other tiebreakers, for me to even have a chance. Feel free to discuss the intense competition this week as the season winds down!

I think golan is the favorite.

also, how do tie-breakers work?

That’s what I’d like to know. I tried to figure it out this morning, but the rules are vague / nonexistant.

I just figured it was points. If it is Division record, that is complete bs.

This is what the rules say:

Ties in the standings are resolved in this order: Winning Percentage, Total Points.

I don’t get “winning percentage” — isn’t that what determines standing in the first place?

Yeah, that’s all I could find in the rules. Makes zero sense.

Can’t be division record because you are ahead of Brad who has the same record but better division record. Your points must be the tie breaker.

What I will be applying, whether CBS does it correctly or not (this is the first time I’ve used the Commish league, but I can adjust the schedule if they screw it up), is the following:

1. Best Record
2. Most Points

If somehow two teams tie in points, I’ll consult other sites and see what the next common tiebreaker is. Division records won’t play a factor.

I am only a few points behind golan, yet I have a ton of more losses.

By the way, I am not seeing how I don’t win my division Chris.

Yes, I should have looked more closely at the number of points. You are 200+ points ahead of the next team in your division, so even if you finish with the same record as someone, you’ll take the division.

By the way, thanks for the commish duties. The league has been a lot of fun — I am getting killed in my money league so the DBN league has kept me interested in fantasy.

So rufio, Brad and I are all in? How many playoff teams are there? I had assumed four (each division winner and one wildcard) which would have left one of the three of us out.

Six playoff teams, with the top two teams getting a bye and teams 3 through 6 playing in the first round (week 14).

Awesome. I thought for sure not playing you twice would bite me in the ass.

I thought this was going to be the case.

My team blows.

Injuries (Nicks) and just sucking (Mathews, Greene, Stewart) killed my season.

Mathews and Greene? Daaaaamn.

I drafted for upside. They pooped the bed.

I’ve done pretty well considering my top two running backs (DeAngelo Williams and Beanie Wells) have done absolutely nothing and I lost my starting QB (Romo). Luckily Darren McFadden turned out to be a stud, I’ve got awesome WR’s (drafted Johnson and Bowe and picked up Brandon Lloyd), and Sanchez has done well since I’ve picked him up.

It looks like I’m “win and in” this week.

Peyton’s schizophrenia has hurt me a little, same with Boldin; best FA pickup was Benjarvus Green-Ellis.

i picked up BJGE also. He still plays buffalo… and in snow… NE could rely on him.

i’m liking the possibilities.

My wide receivers are my biggest cause for concern. Wayne can’t catch, Moss is worthless and DeSean Jackson is up and down. I’ll go as far as Hillis and Foster can carry me.

Also: rufio’s getting whomped this week.

Frank Gore hurt my chances this week and beyond. I’ll play my best guys and see what happens.

This has been the least trashtalkinest fantasy league I’ve ever been in.

Your team sucks!!

That’s more like it Mr. ivegotninewinsbecauseicatcheveryoneontheirworstweek!

That’s actually my surname in my money league. And in the UDBNFL it’s Mr. ivegotninelosesbecauseicatcheveryoneontheirbestweek!

thats very true.

mine is ivegotsevenwinsbytheskinofmyteetheveryweekandsuckingitupagainstlegitowners

He did catch me on a pretty bad week but he scored a good amount of points and had a really good shot to win anyway.

I channel Belichick when it comes to fantasy leagues I care about.

It looks like I have channeled Marty Mornhinweg.

thats pretty far.

What I need to happen (the bolded teams need to win) this week:

TheDriveStillHurts at Holmgrens Stache
Rufio at golan – does not matter
Shaun Rogers’ Stomach at Pokorny Unleashed
Buckeye Brad at Sleepy’s Knightmares
Dawg Nuts at Dayton Doggs
rockybrown at Dorn

I need that exact scenario to happen for me to get in the playoffs. It’s not out of the question, since I am involved in one game, three of the games depend on favorites winning, and the other game depends on the underdog winning.

But then, on top of that, I need to score 50 more points than Dayton Doggs scores this week. I need a big-time shootout!

Anyone like my chances? :p

I think you need Casino Royale luck. Straight flush over a full house over a full house over a flush.

That’s wild.

Glad to see I got Brian Westbrook. I haven’t had a decent 2nd running back option in over a month.

I went after him in the UDBN league. Somebody had a higher waiver than me though damn it

I tried to get him too. Instead, I had to settle for Toby Gerhart and hope Peterson is out this week.

Your in the same predicament that I’m in..I missed out on Westbrook but picked up Gerhart as well. LOL
So are you going to leave AP out and start Toby? I was going to wait until end of the day today to see how AP is doing. I’m worried he will start, then come right back out of the game in the 1st qtr and Gerhart plays if I start AP.

I don’t have AP. I’ll probably only start Gerhart if I see Peterson listed as inactive, or if the coach says he’ll be limited.

I tried to waiver both, but saw you got Gerhart.

I figured someone else would get Westbrook since I was low on the waiver list, so I picked up their rookie RB (can’t think of his name right now) hoping that he’d share carries with Westbrook and hopefully pick up some TD’s. All my 2nd backs are terrible as well.

Watch Dixon be the goal line back and get 2-3 touchdowns a week now.

Singletary even said this week that they don’t want to overuse Westbrook, probably since he has an injury history and is getting old (for a RB), so I expect them to use Dixon quite a bit throughout the game. But goal line carries would definitely be really nice for me!

definitely. I tried to get Dixon in the UDBN league, but missed out to WV Brownies.

I put in a claim on him as well. Got Jacoby Ford (JAX, DEN and IND in weeks 14 15 and 16) instead. With Oaklands playoff schedule, Darren McFadden should make Brad’s team a tough out in the playoffs.

I hope so, because McFadden has run for a total of 16 yards the past two games. Granted, one of those games was against PIttsburgh, but I’m worried that his injury will slow him down the rest of the season. If he’s not producing big numbers then I don’t have much of a shot to win.

I didn’t know he was injured. Thought he was still rattling off 100 yard games every week.

Even if they amputate one of his legs, he’ll still have a shot at hanging 100 and a TD on Denver’s D.

He missed two games back in October and ran well in the 3 games after coming back, but after the past two terrible games there are worries that he’s either reaggrivated his injury or something else is wrong.

I hate you.

(not really, btw)

I took it personally.

I sure hope I can do my part.

TheDriveStillHurts at Holmgrens Stache

Ha.

Dawg Nuts at Dayton Doggs

Ha.

going for the “high-brow” stuff I see. I like it. Rec.
