I win!
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
LET’S GO!
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Another half of double standards, here we come!
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
first
Dawg Nuts - October 17, 2010
Nope, 4th.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Any chance the refs do a better job this half?
Browns town - October 17, 2010
0 is a % right?
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Depends. How much can you pay them?
JustBob - October 17, 2010
Not nearly as much as the Rooneys.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Beat me to it.
Browns town - October 17, 2010
No
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
The usual radio link isn’t working, and atdhe.net is not working . . . anyway to listen or see the game here in Portland?
portland, oregon - October 17, 2010
firstrow.net
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
I think atdhe just goes quiet during halftime.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
i say colt throws 2 td’s this half
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
should bomb it deep to open the box for Hillis.
orangemocha - October 17, 2010
I say I’d love it if this happens.
Browns town - October 17, 2010
“WELCOME BACK BEN!” on the headline.
It’s not like this guy was injured and coming back. He was almost charged with sexual assault.
Sickening.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
this
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
I need to drop San Diego’s defense from my fantasy team.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
On a related note, Bradford looks good.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
First half thoughts, McCoy is OK, Cribbs and MoMass hits were bogus, I say Mangini needs to get on the ref’s asses. I hate the steelers with a passion, good to see Big Ben hasn’t raped anyone today, good progress for him. Announcers have a stiffy for him though, I had to mute it halfway through the first quarter. I find it’s most enjoyable without sound. I’m playing some Rush – 2112, almost as nice as Pink Floyd and the Wizard of Oz at the same time. I want to see someone take some shots at some Pitt WR’s heads. Lets go browns!
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
The refs are doing all the raping today.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
I’ve noticed, it’s pretty sad.
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
Question on the pass interference call on Brown in the first. Was that ball catchable?
Seems like the refs think that Shitburgh should win this game
The Brown Note - October 17, 2010
My thought exactly. I didn’t see that as catchable
Spidey - October 17, 2010
I don’t think so. Randle el is not as tall as Shaq and can’t jump like Lebron.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Announcers raving about the helmet to helmets
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Are you surprised?
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
nope
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Eric Wright sucks at football.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Eric Wright again.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Props to McCoy from a Steeler fan...
Kid is playing damn well considering.
svenhoek - October 17, 2010
thanks
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
The Browns defense has been impressive so far as well.
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
Considering he’s scared James Harrison is gonna destroy him with his helmet and get no flag thrown?
Browns town - October 17, 2010
Yes.
svenhoek - October 17, 2010
Christ.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Haden needs to start over Wright.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
What’s the worst that can happen? He certainly couldn’t do any worse than Wright
superbacker56 - October 17, 2010
One steeler down. Keep going.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
21 to go
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Thus far I have not seen any upside to putting Eric Wright on any star receivers in the past 5 weeks. Today is no different. Perhaps he should try a different career, I hear food service is good.
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
He’d lose the fries between the fryer and the window.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
say it ain't so! I paid $2 for those supersized fries!!
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
all the burgers would be uncovered too
da36chamberz - October 17, 2010
haha
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Ok, I want Ahtyba Rubin to sin on Roethlisberger while Gocong and Roth pull Ben’s legs off.
9James - October 17, 2010
to siT on roethlisberger
9James - October 17, 2010
no, I’d like him to “sin” on ben.
Dawg Nuts - October 17, 2010
He can sin on him too. Right in the fucking eye.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
We’re going to be down 14-3 pretty soon. Prediction: Wright gets beat deep.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Hey Kevin Harlan – Schaefering has no “l” in it. That’s twice now.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
yes it does haha.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
give him a break he’s too busy rooting for pitt
da36chamberz - October 17, 2010
One would think that a professional announcer would learn the names of players on BOTH teams.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
How was that not grounding. The ball did not reach the LOS and Ben was in the pocket.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Because Ben threw it.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
uncalled Helmet to helmets: 2
Uncalled Intentional goundings: 2
Uncalled offsides: countless
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Don’t forget the biased PI calls, they flagged the on on randle el but not the one on cribbs on the drive before it.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
yep. thats just the calls that should have been made, not the calls that shouldn’t have that were (don’t remember the cribbs pass to know if it should have been PI)
bross09 - October 17, 2010
It shouldn’t have, but the ball was WAAAAAY closer to him than Randle El.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
thats very true.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Another intentional grounding penalty not called.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
No it’s a smart play, Golan!
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Oh, the refs don’t have a bias here, just ask Jonnyphoenix.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
3rd and 18. STOP THEM.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Eric Wright made a play?
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
ALMOST PICKED ahhhh. Come on Wright.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Let’s go Colt!
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Eric “Almost” Wright. Got that warning track power.
portland, oregon - October 17, 2010
What’s rule on giving the punt returner room to catch the ball?
9James - October 17, 2010
Stuckey!
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
I love what I’m seeing from Colt.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Me too :D
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Steeler down!
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
I just wan to see us injure Steelers now. The refs aren’t going to give us a chance to win, so we should just take the Steelers starters out for the rest of the season.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
Nice throw!
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I’m beginning to believe that Stuckey is the real deal. Nice slot receiver.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
He’s from Clemson too :)
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I did not know that.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Yup. I actually didn’t know it either until last year. I did know James Davis was though.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Stuckey is a good player. Let Heckert keep drafting and find a number 1 receiver, and we will have some real weapons.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
two things from the first half:
1. Terrible officiating, with the notable call being Mack kicking it out of bounds instead of a helmet to helmet.
2. I fucking hate these announcers.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Oh look at that!
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I think I’ve seen more commercials than game in the 2nd half. Commercialism at its finest.
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
dog – dog – dog
Dawg Nuts - October 17, 2010
opening it up good
orangemocha - October 17, 2010
2 down, 20 to go.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
From Official Browns Twitter feed
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Holmgren better be on the phone with the league right now. This shit is ridiculous.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
A lot of head injuries today.
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
Fuck
bross09 - October 17, 2010
bo0
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
B00 the refs!!!!
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
Colt McCoy should start the rest of the season. He’s certainly not playing worse than our other two options, and I personally think he’s been better.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Maybe.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Maybe to the former, definitely not the latter, based on average of time played.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
I think everyone needs to write to the league about this game.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
At least Harlan knows the difference between an end around and a reverse (one of my announcer pet peeves.)
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Colt threading the needle. Beautiful
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
Stuckey again!
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Farrior offsides again. No flag.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Yup. Definitely crossed the blue line.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
He was closer to McCoy at the snap than Mack.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Stuckey again. Is Robiski playing? Another offsides not called.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
And another.
wh116508 - October 17, 2010
nice hillis
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
HILLIS JUST OWNED PALAMALU.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
why shove him? he threw it 2 seconds before. If a brown does that, its roughing the passer.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Double standard.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
exactly…
bross09 - October 17, 2010
McCoy needs to work in some hard counts.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Mike Bell sighting.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Unfortunately.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Colt showing great poise today.
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
I hope to god someone got a pic of that leap.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
haha Fuck you Troy.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Wow, cool under fire Colt!
portland, oregon - October 17, 2010
I know Wright is weak – but we could sure use a WR that could get seperation from a CB
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
What was the call on Cleveland?
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Another penalty on us, and for what?
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
For not being the Steelers.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
This made me laugh.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Illegal touching = not leading with helmet.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
This.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
I’ve never heard of an illegal touching call.
Sounds made-up or something they created just for Shaun Smith
da36chamberz - October 17, 2010
Vickers stepped out of bounds and was the first player to touch the ball. That was the right call.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
I’m sure it was – I just never heard of it
da36chamberz - October 17, 2010
This having no receivers is really hurting.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Thanks Harrison!
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Dammit.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Whew, Hodges has been unbelievable today.
Chris Pokorny - October 17, 2010
Hodges = MVP
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
This reminds me of Zastudil last year vs. the Bills.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Pro Bowl
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Maybe Zastidil was a product of this beautiful system.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
haha
Dawg Nuts - October 17, 2010
Best punt unit ever!
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Terrific punt
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
REGGIE HODGES ! PAY THE MAN !
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
HAHAHAHAHAH.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
punting has been great today.
orangemocha - October 17, 2010
Still in the game.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I will trade you Mewelde Moore for your punter.
Deal?
svenhoek - October 17, 2010
I’ll trade you Robert Royal for your referees.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
I’ll trade you this

for you to leave.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Stay classy Cleveland
svenhoek - October 17, 2010
Classiness went out the window once James Harrison set foot on the field.
Browns town - October 17, 2010
Classy like calling someone a moron for calling you on your shit?
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
<3
svenhoek - October 17, 2010
Or classy like the helmet to helmet hits from Harrison?
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Can we just ban this guy?
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
you know I wouldn’t have minded trying a field goal there. that was within Phil’s range.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Woerthlessberger got lit up.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
So did our secondary.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
I fucking hate this. I hope Ben is hurt bad.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
What the fuck.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Ahhh, TJ don’t go to Eric Wright’s school of defense……
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
3 down, 19 to go.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
We are gonna take out just enough form them to lose their next game.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
That’s better than nothing, I suppose.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
We have him throwing out of the end zone and give up a 50 yard pass. Come on.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
That went fast.
portland, oregon - October 17, 2010
Bring in Turkey Joe Jones.
portland, oregon - October 17, 2010
And there goes my stream.
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
ATDHE still has one
BringBackKosar - October 17, 2010
Load of crap. Time to be down by 11.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
We need to blitz 1 less guy, we need someone extra on coverage.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
There was a pretty clear holding call there when they held brown. I know you can call holding on every play, but you gotta call it when a guy is held from getting a sack. another sack avoided by an illegal play.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Double standard. They cheat on every play and dare the referees to call it. That’s how they roll.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
yep. I am just starting to figure that out.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Torched.
portland, oregon - October 17, 2010
Cheated is a better word.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
yep. the miller catch should have been called back because of some pretty clear holding. thats sack #3 that should have happened but the steelers cheated us out of it.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
stop em boys
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
damnit
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Going for the strip … Again.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
I blame Ryan for that.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
Eric Wright can’t cover or tackle.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
He sucks at this sport.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Thanks Eric Wright. Actually tackle the guy.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
fuck this
emily522 - October 17, 2010
They had him stopped.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Why the hell is Eric Wright going for the football there instead of the tackle!?!
Chris Pokorny - October 17, 2010
THIS X 10000000000
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Because he’s stupid?
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
again, its our coaches who keep trotting him out there series after series. We might as well just sign some grocery bagger CB off the street and start him instead. Can’t be any worse at this point. Im sick of watching Wright clap his hands like ‘damn, my bad.’ 17 times a game. Makes me want to punch him in the face.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Who else do we have to trot out there though?
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Mike Adams.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
hell, Hank Poteat.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
anyone. anything. A traffic cone or something. A parking meter. A chicken pot pie. Or, maybe just ‘open space’ instead. 10 on 11. Just leave him off.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
I laughed at ‘a traffic cone’.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
NO!
Honestly, wright might be better than poteat. he as just terrible.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
I totally agree. I know you have never really been a Wright fan either but you put the nail on the head.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
YES!
I think he has just forgotten how to play football.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
There’s a Steelers troll in this game thread above, just a heads up.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
An admitted troll at that.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
No, just a typical Steelers fan.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Can’t have the latter without the former.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
There’s Steeler fans that aren’t too bad, this guy is just a douche of a troll.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
He is not the only one. I think Ryan is coaching them that way.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
Hold them to a field goal
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
embarrassing.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Someone show Eric Wright how to play football, my grandma could tackle better.
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
We need Colt to start throwing downfield now.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
thats the first thing the announcers said smart all day!! wright go for the tackle damnit!!
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
How about we not bring the house there and telegraph it considering its short yardage anyways.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Wow
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
tackling is fun-damental
BringBackKosar - October 17, 2010
Well Wright’s the difference between being down by 7 and being down 10.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
you mean being tied at 3 and being down by 11. he also let up the first TD and a competent CB could have made a play on the pass. solid pass, but wright couldn’t locate it to make a play.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
watson sighting
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Nice throw.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Is it just me or is it pointless to run it up the middle every time? Why not kick it outside? There’s plenty of room down the sidelines…..
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
I guess the offense wants to be predictable.
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
I get it that Hillis is a burst runner, not a distance runner but come on, try something else.
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
I’d be willing to sacrifice 1st down and just start off 2nd and 9 for time constraints.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
a) hillis doesn’t have great speed
b) the steeler LBs are some of the best at swarming to the ballcarrier on the outside and in pursuit.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
God, I loathe these announcers.
portland, oregon - October 17, 2010
If McCoy had decided to run just a second earlier…
emily522 - October 17, 2010
hey, did you know we’ve had a lot of starting QBs? cause you should. they mention it 5 times a game.
BringBackKosar - October 17, 2010
Its obvious the announcers know very little about the browns other than the cheat sheet they got before the game. That’s why all they really have to talk about is Ben, and they keep repeating themselves.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
This.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Really nice punting day for Hodges. Not what you want to be your feature of the game – but a hat tip to Reggie.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
Cribbs still out?
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
yep, rest of the game
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
He’s out for the rest of the game. He’s not coming back. Head injuries from helmet to helmet hits will do that.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Crap
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
I know I said it before, but I have been very impressed with Colt.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Agreed
He’s had great poise all day.
KSJ49 - October 17, 2010
Agreed x 2.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
Announcers glad it’s fourth quarter so Roethlisberger can “work some more magic.”
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
It is BS. That pass he threw from the end zone was just a pick waiting to happen. No other NFL team has such poor coverage capability to allow that long completion.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
because obviously magic is what is needs to be worked when you’re up 11 in the 4th against the browns.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
I really think the Browns are basically a well coached and prepared team with virtually no talent.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
FWIW McCoy has completed 70.6% of his passes with 137 yards.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
and the pick wasn’t his fault.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Right. Watson and Moore should not have been in the same area.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
I want to see aStiller twitching on the field after the next play. I really am finished with playing by unevenly enforced rules,
JustBob - October 17, 2010
Roethlisberger
portland, oregon - October 17, 2010
So, it’s still a game in the 4th quarter. How bad was McCoy today?
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
he wasn’t. he was pretty decent.
the rest of the team…um…hodges was good.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Stuckey
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Haden with a good int
emily522 - October 17, 2010
McCoy has actually been a bright spot.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
With 3 points on the board that can’t be good ;)
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
He’s completed 70% of his passes for 137 yards. Hasn’t made dumb mistakes. Looks good under pressure. Not just doing a bunch of checkdowns.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
While I am biased, he has accounted himself pretty well. If I were to pick a unit that beat us it would be the officiating crew and the secondary that just cannot cover well enough to continue blitzing.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
I’d like to requote my prediction here:
(granted, the offensive ineptitude was 4 quarters though)
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Nice. The offensive ineptitude is partly due to our two WRs getting knocked out.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Not that they had contributed before…
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
Cribbs has been pretty good this season, and he contributes in other areas, obviously.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Really? Cribbs hasn’t?
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I thought you were talking about Robo and Massaquoi, my bad.
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
Officiating ineptitude.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
The election cannot get here fast enough. Tired of political ads.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
I pay no attention to them, all politicians are corrupt. Party affiliation doesn’t matter.
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
I honestly don’t know how these announcers can look themselves in the mirror. I wouldn’t have a single good thing to say about Ben.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
I believe they get paid for every time they say something good about him.
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
Ok Adams had no idea what he was doing on that play
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
Robinson? I will take it.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
thats adams for ya
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Our pass coverage on key downs has been awful.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
All season.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
we’re losing this game on third down.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
No sacks, yet.
NM Dawg - October 17, 2010
’Bout frigid time.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
Frigging
JustBob - October 17, 2010
it is getting cold, now that you mention it.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Good pressure. We need a TD right now.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I’m shocked we didn’t get a flag for running into the punter just now.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I’m shocked when we don’t get a flag for running into the punter on the downs when the punter is on the sidelines.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
lol
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
Good Stop
BringBackKosar - October 17, 2010
Is McCoy getting much time to throw?
NM Dawg - October 17, 2010
plenty.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
That was a super bad decision.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
Did you see the endzone angle? That was an excellent throw. Watson needs to get down and get that one.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
He talking about the almost int.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I must have missed that play.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
jeez
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Oh man, Colt. Not a good decision there.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
And that was a nearly nice throw.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
If Watson was a tad bit faster, that would have been a perfect throw.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Yeah. That’s exactly what we want to see from McCoy. He put the ball where his guy had a shot at it and no one else.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
this
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Are we really at the point of claiming moral victories on incomplete passes?
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
It’s not about declaring any moral victories.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
We’re assessing McCoy’s performance.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
I moe, I moe. The comments are fair, it just seems pathetic.
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
The trow was great, maybe lead a little too much, but Watson needed to lay out for it and didn’t.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
^throw
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Just ahead of the WR. That was a pretty good throw.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
i like those e trade commercials
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Ugh, barf. Maybe if you have kids I guess.
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
high point of the game.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
What happened to Massaquoi and The Flash?
portland, oregon - October 17, 2010
They have been put out of the game by helmet to helmet hits by James Harrison.
That were not flagged.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
apparently if a steeler lands a helmet to helmet hit it’s not a penalty.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
better be some fines after this game…
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
Didn’t you know it’s only a flag if we do it. and even then only if it’s not on purpose.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Helmet to helmet from Harrison.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Defensive ineptitude continues….
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
I think our LBs are playing too close to the line.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
Maybe we should blitz Wright and leave the coverage to the other guys.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Rubin has been better in coverage this year.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Is Sean Rodger ever going to play again?
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
The announcers are going to cry because Ben missed that throw.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Hadend almost got another.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
ha serves them right
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Please shank.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
hahahaha!!!!!

notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
lukedurra - October 17, 2010
Keep punting.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Where’s the fair catch interference call?
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
There.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Just kidding.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Apparently word has come down from Roger Goodell that the Steelers punt team CAN be penalized.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
only the punt team.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
hey the steelers got a flag. must’ve fallen out of a pocket and they made somethin g up to cover
BringBackKosar - October 17, 2010
Stuckey fielding punts is frightening.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
why isn’t haden back there?
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
You spoke too soon.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I’ve been worried since his first 1.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Fuck fuck fuck
JustBob - October 17, 2010
So the refs can call two penalties on punts, but none on illegal hits? Geez.
NM Dawg - October 17, 2010
fucking stuckey.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
I don’t understand why we have nobody else like maybe Haden.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
Jesus Christ.
Game over.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
well that just blows!!
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
The refs knew that the Steelers must keep punting until Cleveland muffs the punt.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
This game is bullshit.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Fucking A
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
Bears defense wth -1 points. Jesus.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Same old Browns
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
This has nothing to do with our play, the refs are handing the game to the Steelers.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Yeah, the refs muffed that punt.
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
We wouldn’t be in the position we are in right now without the HUGE effect the refs had on this game.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
if this was a clean game, cribbs would be in there.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
If this was a clean game we wouldn’t be playing the Steelers.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Blame goes both ways
emily522 - October 17, 2010
the refs have been terrible, but I have no reason to believe we wouldn’t have lost this game on our own.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
just hope we can have both guys up and running after the bye.
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
I can not believe how poorly we have played today. I also can’t believe we stayed this close for so long playing so terribly.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Yup.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
IMO, we played at the level we are capable of. The Steelers are just plain better, sadly.
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
I think we played much better against the ravens and bengals.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
I think the game would be closer with neutral officials.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
That “not giving up a rushing TD” was fun while it lasted.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Time for McCoy to make a name for himself. Three TDs in 7 minutes?
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
I’d like to just see him lead us to one.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
This.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
same here! would do great for his confidence
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Yes
NM Dawg - October 17, 2010
Joe Montana couldn’t score even 1 TD with our WRs (ever if MoMass wasn’t injured). Without one deep thread, how can we been even a .500 team?
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
Our WRs are good enough to be .500 given a running game and a defense. We just don’t have the depth to deal with injuries to our two best receivers.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
There will be receivers available in the draft. This is a rebuild year, no doubt.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
That much is absolutely 100% certain.
And I love the progress thus far.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Heckert’s picks all look solid. I have never been more optimistic about the Browns.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
And Cribbs, that’s our best two WRs.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
I had to turn this one off….still upset over the lack of officiating today.
da36chamberz - October 17, 2010
Quitter.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
lmao
da36chamberz - October 17, 2010
see…I switch to the radio and we score….I shoulda done this earlier
da36chamberz - October 17, 2010
I spent the second half of the Ohio State game watching from the kitchen because the Bucks started their 18 point “comeback” when I was in there.
Bernie19Kosar - October 17, 2010
in other news KC is up 30-21 on Houston. they may be for real.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Bowe decided to kick the Crisco out of his pregame routine.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Of course there is no flag right there.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Where’s the unnecessary roughness call?
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Bowe decided to kick the Crisco out of his pregame routine.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Reply fail.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Steelers. Double standard.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
NOW WE PUT HADEN IN
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Looks like Haden for kick returns and Stuckey for punts.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
It’d be nice to see Hillis break one. Of James Harrison’s legs.
lukedurra - October 17, 2010
steeler offside number 6,541
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Woodley also hit Watson out of bounds.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
but he didn’t knock him down, so they won’t call it. it’s a penalty, but they’ll never call it.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
…and gets a compliment,
bross09 - October 17, 2010
WOW EVAN MOORE!
bross09 - October 17, 2010
nice catch moore
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Nice layout moore!
lukedurra - October 17, 2010
McCoy might actually be the real deal.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
I’m close to buying in. He’s playing smart.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Same.
It’s not like this is against some crap team. This is the Steelers’ D in Pittsburgh.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
and he is actually stretching the field. He has at least 4 passes of 20 yards or more, and one of 19 yards to Evan Moore.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
I’m in, couldn’t be more impressed.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
McCoy lookin’ good here.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
MOORE!
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Also, fuck that moral victory shit. Try to win.

Good job McCoy! Oh yeah, FUCK YOU PITTSBURGH
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010

9James - October 17, 2010
nevermind
9James - October 17, 2010
Wow. Yahoo!
NM Dawg - October 17, 2010
So. . . who else is for taking Peterson/Amukamara/Harris with our top ten pick in the 2011 draft? I don’t even care that we drafted Haden and Ward last year. Our secondary still blows.
Cap'n Snegiryov - October 17, 2010
I still say we aren’t picking in the top 10.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Huh. I like your optimism.
Cap'n Snegiryov - October 17, 2010
I’m sticking with my 10 win prediction.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
haha. rec that brother.
Dawg Nuts - October 17, 2010
I say that after this game we find our rhythm and win more than we lose the rest of the season. Especially if we can pull of a Kardiac Kids-esque comeback here.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Well, that second part isn’t gonna happen.
Cap'n Snegiryov - October 17, 2010
I’d be fine with AJ Green or Peterson or Amukamara.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
Now I saw it!
emily522 - October 17, 2010
So far I like what I’ve seen from McCoy.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Announcers . . . STFU
portland, oregon - October 17, 2010
another note on McCoy: it’s not like he’ll be facing tougher defenses.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Heck Yeah! McCoy showing what he is made of. This kid doesn’t quit.
superbacker56 - October 17, 2010
And so shine a good deed in a weary world
BringBackKosar - October 17, 2010
Fuck anyone who doubted Colt (Rotoworld, walterfootball) in this game. 1 TD, 1 pick (not really his fault), 200 yards passing, 68% completion.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Don’t read Walter, it’s a waste of time.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
Ha I know. Some his fantasy advice is good though.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I only use walterfootball for a few things
a) some fantasy advice
b) game lines (and other stats that are included on walterfootball that are useful)
c) names of future draft picks (like today, I forgot the name of the MSU quarterback and I used walterfootball to remember it)
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Yup. I don’t pay attention to his analysis or anything. Sometimes his mock drafts are good.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I do agree with his assessment that Jake Locker is overrated and will never be more than an average-above average NFL QB
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Walter did say repeatedly that Colt McCoy is “a shorter Kyle Orton Clone” meaning it derogatorily. However given Orton’s performance this season, one might want to be compared to Kyle Orton.
jaws. - October 17, 2010
And his 1 interception was the fault of his WR not catching the ball.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
i say mccoy starts the rest of the season
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
There’s no way that Delhomme is a better option. Wallace, maybe, but there’s no potential for him to be the QB of the future, so yes.
Browns town - October 17, 2010
At least give him a shot next week. Give Delhomme and Wallace an extra week to heal before putting them in before they are healthy.
superbacker56 - October 17, 2010
Yes, this could work.
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
Poop.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
The seahawks D has 17 points for me.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Damn.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I started them in the unofficial DBN fan league, only got 11.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
I’m probably going to alternate them with the 49ers based on matchup for the rest of the year. SF has been a major disappointment.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Give the kid credit…still not ready to enshrine him Canton yet
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
Interesting decision for Browns on Colt. I know the Show doesnĀ“t want him to play – but it looks like he could challenge for the job if given the chance.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
McCoy has 12 fantasy points.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
bet ward gets fined for that hit!!! lol
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
boss ward lays the lumber.
Dawg Nuts - October 17, 2010
TJ Ward. God it’s nice to have a hard hitter.
lukedurra - October 17, 2010
surprised that wasn’t a flag on us.
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
i kid really
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
there we go!
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
I want to see McCoy get the ball one last time…
emily522 - October 17, 2010
You blew it – you should have said I want Colt to get it at least from the 20. Your non-specifity cost us.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
Very stupid call by Pitts
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
Screw you Ben.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Yeah, he rapes women.
That’s just not cool.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
is if you’re in the NBA, apparently
BringBackKosar - October 17, 2010
Sigh
JustBob - October 17, 2010
nice out of the endzone
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
If McCoy drives it 98 yards here, there is no controversy. He’s the starter.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
This.
I don’t think Wallace or Delhomme would’ve done this well.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
No doubt.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
He wasn’t tentative at all like Quinn was with the check downs and 2 yard passes.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I’d honestly like him to at least start next week.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
/irrationally optimistic
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
That’s not at all irrational.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
He drives it 98 yards and he’s my hero.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
I’m inclined to agree. He has done as well as the other two guys, it seems, and he’s holding up much better than I expected. Play calling has been MUCH better thanI expected too.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
battle of the punters.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Robo sighting
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Back in the day, Jim Brown would sweep right for 68 yards in this situation.
portland, oregon - October 17, 2010
screw clock management!
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Good Kolb is playing great. I hate Vick.
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
‘If I were the Browns coaching staff I wouldn’t be afraid to put it in the hands of your rookie QB, down 11 with 2:30 left.’’
Really, guys? WTF choice to we have at this point
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
I have to say that DBN has not been kind to McCoy before this outing. Very critical.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
I’ve been supporting Colt the whole time actually. I like him a lot.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Agreed Emily
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
I don’t think we’ve been critical, I think we’ve been reserving judgement.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
This.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
exactly.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
How about "reluctant to throw him in without some more prep?
JustBob - October 17, 2010
If by ‘not been kind’ you mean ‘not ready to carve his HOF bust’, then yeah, I agree. I’m not a Texas homer. He has to earn my praise.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
i’ve never been critical of him, I just didn’t want to throw him to the dogs. given no choice, he pleasantly surprised us. in fact, I think he’s earned the right to start the rest of the year considering this season is essentially a bust anyway.
Dawg Nuts - October 17, 2010
let’s start up a clecomesque Colt bandwagon
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Looked like that should have been PI to me.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
damnitt!!!!
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
Oh, come on.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Not his fault. Again.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
not a good pass, but that was a freak occurance. 999 times out of 1000 thats not an INT.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
So of course I give him a shout out right before a pick.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
not his fault.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
pass was thrown behind the receiver, but it doesn’t matter
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
agreed, not a good throw. but not the kind of throw that typically ends in a pick.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
That was his first truly bad pass of the game.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
There was the one batted down by Woodley that could have been picked
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
The turnover there doesn’t change my opinion.
McCoy should start going forward.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
This.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
this
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
a BIG this
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
I would expect to see him get the next start regardless. Don’t think Wallace or Delhomme will be ready to go anywyas.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
In my opinion, Wallace’s and Delhomme’s health are completely irrelevant.
McCoy should start regardless.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Whats up with Chargers this year. Taken to the woodshed by Rams.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
Worst road team in the league, awful special teams, and Norv Turner.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
it still wasn’t a bonehead DA pick. Besides, McCoy has proven he can play and play well with a terrible offense against one of the best D’s in the NFL. Why not start him? We’re 1-5.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
I hate to be a svenhoek on this one, but the refs totally gave the game to Pitt.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
Wow. Can“t believe they threw it there.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
rubbing it in, wouldn’t you?
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
Seriously? How long have you watched the NFL?
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Great. Now it’s going to look like a blowout and all the talk is going to be about how Woerthlessberger is back and working his magic.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Exactly.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Well yes, the talking heads will take every chance they get to suck Ben’s dick.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
They can’t really criticize McCoy though. They’ll have to give him some praise.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
The praise will come with a spin.
First we’ll get this spiel about how mind blowing the Steelers defense is.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Yup. They gave up 270 yards to him.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
281*
emily522 - October 17, 2010
better them willingly than the alternative.
lukedurra - October 17, 2010
Was getting a TD necessary? Really?
emily522 - October 17, 2010
we’d do it if we had the chance too
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
This.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
This is true.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Apparently the browns thought it was necessary.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
that’s sort of a dick move, but can’t really blame them.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
I need to go blow off some steam, I’m seriously pissed about this one between the refs and the announcers, catch yall later.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
I find it ironic how Big Ben points to the sky after a touchdown, I didn’t think rapists did that.
Denarchy - October 17, 2010
Announcers should remove their mouths from Ben’s…
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
a 74 QB rating and over 200 yards while playing the steelers is pretty darn good for a rookie.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
(plus a 67 comp %)
bross09 - October 17, 2010
I wonder what that rating becomes without the two picks.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Without the second pick it was a 90.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
108.
Before the 2nd INT, it was 92.1
His QB rating now is actually up to 78.9 with a 68.75 comp %, 5 passes of 20 yards or more, 8.8 ypa, 12.3 yards per completion
bross09 - October 17, 2010
that ypa is really nice to see, since one of the main questions about him coming in was his ability to throw down field.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
yes. granted, he had a high ypa in the preseason but completed a lot of short throws. I like seeing the 12.3 yards per completion which also helps to show that he is throwing the ball downfield. the league average is slightly under 11 and anything over 10 is stretching the field in some way.
12.3 ypc is right around where the texans and broncos are (top 10 in the league)
bross09 - October 17, 2010
nvm. its up to 80.5 QB rating, 69.7 comp %,
bross09 - October 17, 2010
a no shit this!!
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
As happy I am with McCoy, I am still furious at the coaching staff and the rest of the players for this debacle.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Blaming them for the refs or the injuries?
JustBob - October 17, 2010
You actually think the refs and the injuries are the reason why the browns lost? As opposed to the players and the coaches? So if the refs call no penalities against the browns and there are no injuries we win this game. Is that what you’re saying?
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
No. But I don’t know what you are laying at the feet of the coaches unless it is Ryan having the D focus on stripping instead of tackling. As for the players, I don’t think anyone ever called this an all-star squad.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
Yeah, taking the Steelers into the fourth quarter without your two best receivers, and with a player making his debut at QB and against referees who have money on the game, you’ve gotta be upset with the players and coaches.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
grow up. stop blaming the refs. The refs were shit. Yes. But the browns were too.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
he clearly blamed the loss on other factors as well.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
What the fuck crawled up your ass today? Christ….
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Sorry about that…Rest assured if you were an attractive young female with large breasts I would make dirty sweet sweaty smelly monkey love to you golan… but since you’re not …I’ll just go ahead and simply offer my apologies.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
No problem. It’s not like I haven’t given people hell on here before with little provocation. It happens.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Terrible take.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
no it wasn’t. You think the browns played well?
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
I meant being furious at the coaching staff, I think your expectations are either unrealistic or you just want to complain. The Steelers are a far more talented team than we are right now.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
we’re 1-5, golan, I think there’s good reason to be upset. Those two WRs you mentioned would not start anywhere. This team needs a lot of work.
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
Massaquoi would be a number two most other places in the league, and cribbs may not play receiver, but you can’t tell me there is a single team in the league that wouldn’t love to have him.
the team needs a lot of work, but lets not overstate that.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Well no shit, thie team needs work. We have less talent on the field than any other team in the league. I just don’t see how you hang that on the players or the coaches who are making do and hanging in there with teams that have far more talent than we do?
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Amen to that.
Spidey - October 17, 2010
But how much time are you willing to give the “administration”? It’s not like Mangini has not had bone headed calls. 2 of last years’ second round picks are busts. Some of the players he brought over from the Jets have been awful.
Don’t get me wrong, I am willing to give him more time and there is progress in some areas, but I understand why some fans would be pissed off.
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
Well, arguing about one of those 2nd rounders is a moot point as we have no idea what he he does after the cheap shot concussion he received.
At the end of a game where the officiating was pathetic is not an ideal time to pick on Mangini and the coaching staff. We were playing with a 3rd string QB and our primary offensive weapon was taken out on a blow to the helmet. Our #1 WR was also taken out on a blow to the helmet. And we had to watch a rapist get a standing ovation from his adoring fans.
Spidey - October 17, 2010
the administration has been on the job less than a year. I’m willing to give them more time than that before I get angry, and anyone who wouldn’t belongs at cleveland.com.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Considering Holmgren/Heckert have been here for 6 games, and all of their picks look good, I am willing to give them 4-5 years.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
They are 1-5. I think most here would say it’s reasonable for us to have expected more out of this particular browns team. Similarly, 1-4…followed by an 18 point loss to a hated divisional rival is not progress (aside from McCoy).
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Game was closer than the score tells.
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
Against the steelers I don’t like moral victories that result in double digit losses.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
This.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
I will say that we still really suck. I honestly believe that Ryan is trapped. If he doesnĀ“t blitz no one can win a one on one physical matchup. If he blitzes and we fall short – we just cannot cover.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
wow moore!!!
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
one more touchdown
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
How did Evan Moore make that catch?
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
What happened?
emily522 - October 17, 2010
Colt McCoy is the most accurate QB since Bernie.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
For the Browns.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
that was nuts.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
well timed my ass!
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
C’mon guys, this is Pittsburgh. They’re allowed to commit PI.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
That was a TD if he did not restrict his jump.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
are you kidding me? are you fucking kidding me? that was PI.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
We did not catch a break from the guys in stripes today. Prolly did not matter – but I do hope they catch some chit for that performance.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
They favored Pittsburgh. They did their job. They’ll get praise from the NFL.
woodsmeister - October 17, 2010
Go Colt! Don’t give up!
NM Dawg - October 17, 2010
Never.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
ok, colt needs to work better on the 2 minute drill!! there’s some critisism for ya!! but overall very impressed
findlaybrownslover - October 17, 2010
and apparently blows to the head, holding, and pretty much every other penalty except for being blatantly offside all the time
HenryDawg - October 17, 2010
I kinda wish Mangini would say something about the officiating in the post game…but I guess it’s really not going to make any difference
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
So now it’s the officiating?
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
The officiating was terrible. I’ve SAID that numerous times. It was, however, not the main reason why the browns lost the game. Not even close.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Lack of talent.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Main main issue with the officiating was the headshots. Mangini should bring up those non-calls specifically because of the ruckus about TJ Ward caused 2 weeks ago. That’s whyhe should address it.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
ha. thats funny.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
If I read correctly, golan didn’t ever say it was the main cause either, yet you jumped all over him.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
eh, forget it. I think I’m just letting the constant losing get to me today.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
happens to everyone. good to get it all out in the game thread.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Bingo.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
70% completion rate. Nice.
NM Dawg - October 17, 2010
I knew it would end in a loss, but I still think that the early non-calls by the refs affected the momentum of the game, making the loss worse than it should have been.
JustBob - October 17, 2010
I’d agree.
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
Yep.
Spidey - October 17, 2010
Can’t we make some trade for a quality WR? Sean Rodgers worth anything to somebody?
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
1. Colt played great for a first start
2. He played as well as Wallace has and better then Delhome
3. Sheldon Brown sucks and can’t even cover a tight end
4. Eric Wright is a joke
5. Pittsburgh has no class
HenryDawg - October 17, 2010
No pressure at all on Ben either, even with some more ill-conceived blitz packages.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Not a single sack against a bad offensive line is pretty awful
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
sacks =/= pressure.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
I did not see any pressure on the quarterback. Happy?
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
(half of 3rd and 4th quarter, I should qualify my comment)
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
ben was hurried and knocked down quite a bit today. we obviously need to do better, and not getting a sack against them is bad, but there was pressure.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
we got nice pressure on him and knocked him down a fair amount, we were just not able to bring him down for a sack.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
sacks=/=pressure.
We got pressure on ben, however it didn’t always get there quick enough. They also got away with a couple obvious holds on blitzers who easily could have sacked ben and a couple intentional groundings by him. We were in his face a lot, he was just better than he normally is at getting it out quick instead of holding onto the ball.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
And remember on that long pass from the end zone, he “took that blow to the chops” as he was releasing the pass. (Puhleeeze. It was a clean hit to the chest – not the head.)
Spidey - October 17, 2010
our secondary is horrible. Yes, I like Haden and Ward has made some plays, but we’re burnt week after week. We have one of the worst units in the league.
You forgot:
6. We had no running game
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
we were also facing the NFLs best run D.
The fact is, that hillis was a more effective runner than Mendenhall, they just ran it a lot because they were up and we only ran it 12 times with hillis because we were down for so long.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
It’s not horrible, they’ve had a few bad games and a few good games, still a lot of growth. Give it time
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
QBs and WR have field days with our defense. Sheldon Brown has not been good at all. I like Ward. It’s time to assume that Wright sucks, sit his ass on the bench, and have Haden start now. He can’t do worse.
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
Against the Chiefs, Bucs and Falcons the secondary played mostly well outside of one big play against both the Bucs and Falcons. Every team in the league gives up big plays though, I think if you are expecting a shut down performance every week your expectations are too high.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
I think a stud pass rusher benefits our pass defense infinitely more than better corners and safeties right now.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Quite possible, but I think Wright is gone after this season and most everyone would agree we still need an upgrade over Elam, could really use a free safety. There is a lot to add to this roster still: top WR, maybe QB, RT?, number 1 pass rusher, CB, S.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
I guess I just think our pass defense would benefit more from being able to blitz less people than it would from adding a safety or corner.
I also think Brown fills the FS spot next year.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
thats true, but we are 1-2 players (one on each side) away from being able to hide deficiencies. I see WR and FS as maybe our 2 biggest right now with QB, CB, and pass rusher following.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Also Evan Moore is our best WR
HenryDawg - October 17, 2010
I say start him over Robeski
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
who is this ro-bis-kie you speak of?
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
I gotta go study more now. Sucks that we lost, but great to see Colt have a nice outting. Definitely gives me some encouragement in the QB department.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I like Rob Ryan but his blitzes end up costing us a lot of huge plays
HenryDawg - October 17, 2010
I blame the awful pass coverage.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
55% poor pass rush, 35% poor coverage, 10% holding
9James - October 17, 2010
35% poor coverage, 35% poor pass rush, 20% holding, 10% other poor calls (i.e. intentional grounding).
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Well Rex has to send 7 people in order to get a half decent pass rush, which still is inadequate since they didn’t even get a sack. That leaves the field wide open
The Licensed Pessimist - October 17, 2010
Not having an elite pass rusher is killing our defense. I will say that I like that we’re getting after it though. There’s nothing I hate more than the bend and then break defense that Romeo ran.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
agreed. I hated that D. I think an elite pass rusher is one of the big needs in the draft. WR1 and a pass rusher in my mind. If we can get a robert Quinn, rotate fujita inside (and blitz from there), and have a 3 rushers with Quinn, Roth, and Benard, we can be pretty damn good at getting to the QB.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
well KC’s defense is looking pretty lovely this year
The Licensed Pessimist - October 17, 2010
This is true, though I think they have multiple top 5 picks up front. That helps.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Exactly. Its not an option. We have to blitz like we do just to get anything at all done.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
yeah especially watching our blitzing CB get enveloped by an OT and then a wide open 30 yard gain.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
you mean our CB blitzing gets held by an OT and then there’s a long throw because the guy doesn’t get to the QB?
bross09 - October 17, 2010
That all out blitz where Ward lunged for the TD (right through Eric Wright) was to me a stupid call there.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Maybe we should have 2 postgame threads. One for venting about the game, officiating and the Steeler fans; and the other for discussing the ineptitude of the Browns.
Spidey - October 17, 2010
I think we’ve managed a nice potpourri of all 4 right here…
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
I love what I saw today. I no longer think we need to draft a QB no 1, which frees us up to go snag a legit WR in the first round, maybe trade into the late first to snag a CB there or in the second, and then just try and make some moves to shed E Wright for picks or something and try and pick up guys to improve the pass rush and the right side of the line.
We are very, very close, ladies and gentlemen. Very close.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
really? close you say?
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
Yes, close. We’re missing the key talent, but we’re really only a handful of players shy of having a good team.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
Agreed. I’m also impressed that the coaching staff is pulling off what they are with what they have to work with.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
We need one play maker on each side of the ball to be a .500 team. I guess that qualifies at close. At the end of the day we are a one win team.
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
We’ll win more than one game.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Ok, we’ll win a couple more games. We are still the worst team in an average division. How are we close? We appear to be better than last year but there are still a ton of holes on this team.
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
How is this an average division? Ravens and Steelers could both arguably be the best teams in football, and the Bengals are 2-3 while we’re not nearly as bad of a team as you’d seem to have us believe.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
Ravens are legit, Pittsburgh maybe a decent playoff team, Cinci sucks. Regardless, the deficit of talent on this team is glaring and has been for over a decade, and as a fan I am tired of it. The “this regime will be better” game is old.
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
Well Lord knows we would miss your irrational negativity if you were to get so tired of this “game” that you decided to keep it to yourself.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
What is irrational is the idea that this team is a player or two away from being a winning/playoff caliber team.
Trust me, I’ve drank plenty of the Browns Kool-aid, and understand there is more parity and opportunity to improve quickly in the NFL vs NBA, MLB, etc. We Browns fans jizz our pants over isolated good performances (Jerome Harrison at the end of the last year, Derek Anderson before that, Colt today?) but where is the real progress? We seem to be better vs last year but to this point of the season we are one of the worst teams statistically and in W/Ls. Hope is great but isn’t a substitute for success.
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
Then why bother posting? Hop on the bandwagon like everyone else will when we turn the corner over the next season or two.
I just don’t know what you gain by coming on here and telling everyone theyre wrong and that we’re just gonna suck forever.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
Lol. 30+ years as a CLE sports fan (I was at The Drive), so I am hardly a front runner. Where did I say they will suck forever? But tell me since they’ve returned (outside of the fluke 9-7 season) where you’ve seen a pattern of improvement? I hope Holmgren and Heckert succeed – they certainly seem better than Palmer, Butch Davis, Romeo, etc. – but they have a long way to go. Hearing we are a season or two away is so tired. Sorry you have a problem with that perspective.
If it makes you feel better, there are plenty of people here that share you unbridled enthusiasm and you can skip over any dissenting posts like mine.
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
Everyone’s tired of rebuilding and having a talent starved team, but if you don’t see how things are absolutely going in the right direction and that it will take some time, then I question your football sense.
Also, as said above, the Steelers and the Ravens could both be considered as the best team in football. Not quite sure how you could rationalize it otherwise.
Browns town - October 17, 2010
I dunno. The talent level is sooo weak. No WR can get seperation. No CB can cover. No rusher can get a sack by beating his man – only risky blitzes. No RB that can break a 4.6 and no WR that can break a 4.5. Long way to go.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
Good thing its a team sport.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
Right.
Not saying he have zero good/serviceable players on each line and at LB but talent wins the close games (sackers, deep threarts, RBs that can break an 80 yrd play more than once a year, etc.)
kingcrimson2 - October 17, 2010
but speed isn’t everything for WRs.
plus you are wrong. Both Hillis and James davis can run under a 4.6 40 and Robiskie and Mitchell both ran a sub 4.5 40 (and stuckey ran a 4.34 on his pro day)
we have CBs who can cover and WRs that can get separation.
you should have stopped the one time you were actually ahead.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
I think Hillis is plenty fast. I’m also pretty sure Cribbs is faster than 4.5
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
pittsburgh went 3-1 while having the toughest SOS during the first 5 weeks.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Average division? I should know by now that you’re liable to see and read anything on the internet, but this? Wow.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
I don’t think this is an ‘average’ division. the AFC North is definitely better than the AFC/NFC west, the NFC south, and the NFC north. the AFC North is also probably better than the AFC/NFC east.
Plus, are we clearly the ‘worst’? we only have one less win than Cincy, we beat them, plus we have had a ridiculously hard SOS so far, with the teams we’ve faced having a winning % close to .750
bross09 - October 17, 2010
At the end of the day, there’s a lot more going on in building a franchise than what you see in the W/L column.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
When Mangini was hired, I said that he’ll do what no one else has bothered to do since expansion: build the bottom half of the roster. The bottom half is there (and then some). Now we need the top half, and that has to be done in the draft. There’s no way we can expedite the process. We just have to be patient. If Heckert hits more than he misses next year, we should be an 8-8 team. Another good draft in 2012 and we’re a legit playoff team for years to come (and not a flash in the pan like the ‘07 team, since we’ll have a solid roster from top to bottom).
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
100% agreed, although I think we’re a wildcard team next year with a good offseason.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
Yep, think Mangini won’t make it that far though.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
Nah, he’ll get at least one more season. I think most fans would be pissed if he didn’t.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
The way we’re going you won’t see many fans pissed off if Mangini is fired.
BuenosAires_Dawg - October 17, 2010
That’s unfortunate for him, but fine by me. I’d like to see him get another year though. Effort, character and discipline can’t be stressed enough, and Mangini is great at drilling those particular traits into players and into a franchise.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
This.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I’d be pretty upset if Mangini got sacked after this season. We’ve gotten better it seems like every week since he got here.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
I would too, most likely.
golanbatrac - October 17, 2010
The guy doesn’t make excuses, he inherited a mess, and he’s got mediocre talent playing hard. I thought today was actually another step in the right direction. This team just needs some players. I fully expected today to be a 45-0 disaster.
kennesawmountainwahoo - October 17, 2010
how much of it is credited to him? The defense has definitely played better but I credit that to Ryan. Other than that the personnel moves haven’t been so spectacular
The Licensed Pessimist - October 17, 2010
I’d like to see mangini stay on a few years and have more time to build; but if he’s fired, the most important thing is that we have holmgren and heckert. many coaches could have success with those guys putting the talent in place, and I have more confidence in them picking a coach than in lerner picking a coach.
Dawg Nuts - October 17, 2010
I couldn’t agree with you more here. I’d be happy to see him here again next year with some more talent, but I’m not going to be too upset if he’s fired. He’s done the exact same thing he did for the Jets, and that’s building a foundation.
StuckInPa - October 17, 2010
Dude, outside of junk time, they only scored on us twice. Their third TD was off of our 3rd string PR’s muff, and their last one was definitely garbage time. Considering how young our secondary is, I’ll take it. Take Eric Wright out and replace him with someone decent, and they may not even score those first two TDs.
If McCoy keeps playing like this, we have our QBOTF. We’ve already got answers at RB, LT, LG, C, and TE. We have decent no 2 and no 3 WRs.
Honestly, if we keep playing like we’re playing and developing, than we’re just a couple pieces short of being a deadly football squad and legitimate AFC North challengers.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
I’d say if things go well (which is a big ‘if’) we’re still about 2 years away from contending for a playoff spot. But…if McCoy works out that is huge for us and really let’s us add pieces in the draft we desperately need.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Idk why you think we’re so far away. Switch Wright for someone competent and add a real no 1 WR and we might be undefeated in the AFC at this point. We’re that close.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
I agree.
Steelers have also been great so far this year, a ridiculous SOS and still went 3-1 going into the game.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Not that we could get much for him right now, but we can’t trade Wright anyways since he’s a free agent after the year.
Browns town - October 17, 2010
I don’t even mind not getting anything back for him, its an “addition by subtraction” sorta thing.
troy145 - October 17, 2010
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
…and we can use the cone in our practice sessions.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
…and if we strategically place the cone on the field most likely the receiver will have to at some point acknowledge it’s existence by avoiding it, jumping over it, or tripping on it.
johnnyphoenix - October 17, 2010
Baltimore is giving it back to Tom Brady and NE. (Overtime)
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Had to take a look at BTSC to see the reaction to the Harrison hits. I’m impressed that most considered them to be “fineable” hits. Also nice to see Bross sticking his nose into the fight.
Spidey - October 17, 2010
Did you catch the post where a few of them were bragging about trolling us here?

Dude is a dick and needs to be banned from here.
North Coast Flea - October 17, 2010
I just stuck my nose in for a bit when people were ridiculous. they claimed that both his were incidental and he didn’t at all lead with his head. most were very level headed.
bross09 - October 17, 2010
Most were level-headed. I wonder what they will say when the same happens to their players in CBS…
Spidey - October 17, 2010
Did they show any concern that they gave up 280 passing yards to a QB who was supposed to probably get less than 100?
emily522 - October 17, 2010
1. Time for Haden to start, I expect him to be a starter the rest of the season
2. Ward is a classic strong safety, still needs refinement in the passing game, but he is exactly how Mangini described him after the draft, a Lawyer Milloy clone.
3. Very impressed with Colt, wouldn’t mind him playing the rest of the season
4. Heckert and Holmgren can draft, I don’t see why some people aren’t more optimistic about this, we haven’t had this many draft picks show something ever since the return of the Browns. Give it a couple years, folks
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
Agreed on all counts.

Steeler fan here
And I agree. I fear you are not / will not be a laughingstock in the NFL for very much longer.
Weirtonite - October 17, 2010
God do we hope you are right.
jaws. - October 17, 2010
This.
Haden and Ward were definite good picks. Hardesty… we’ll see. McCoy will be an unknown for awhile, but he should start for the rest of the season.
emily522 - October 17, 2010
I am much more optimistic about drafting – but really down on our talent level. Our WRs just cannot get open and DBs canĀ“t cover well enough for whatever Ryan is trying to do. I am pretty close to giving up on our 2nd rounders from last year. God bless Colt and it would be huge if he was TQBOTF, but it is hard to draw that conclusion from one game.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
Against the best D in the league and no viable WR threats, I’d say he performed great, couldn’t believe it myself actually.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
It’s everything I can do to keep from anointing him QB of the future right now.
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Can’t we?
StuckInPa - October 17, 2010
Tim Tebow just scored a Florida style touchdown.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
And then the Broncos get the onside kick.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
How the hell did bull riding ever make it on national television?
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
It is one helluva sport to watch live.
realmccoy - October 17, 2010
Shame I changed it to more football.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
I like what I saw from McCoy, which is the main reason I watched the game. I think its clear that we have a few glaring needs on this team from a talent stand point. Mangini and Rob Ryan are doing a really nice job considering the players they have and I think Heckert has done a great job finding us a couple of players this year. The Browns have to play an absolutely perfect mistake-free game to beat basically anyone, let alone the Steelers, considering that they are the best run defense and can shut down our guy Peyton Hillis.
We definitely have big needs:
RT (RG? Lauvao might be the guy Hopefully)
Defensive line (man we need some defensive ends, and Rubin is solid if unspectacular)
LB (we need some pass rush and some speed in the middle to help in zone coverage.)
Someone who isn’t Eric Wright. (Pat peterson? Prince ’mura?)
jaws. - October 17, 2010
I maintain that Massaquoi will be an above average #2
notthatnoise - October 17, 2010
Anyone know what happen to Brandon Lloyd? I’m watching that game and am yet to spot him.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Jets have good secondary, and he actually isn’t that great.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
The Jets pass defense has been severely overrated this season.
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Revis has been knicked up, when he gets fully healthy it will be a top unit.
Roger Dorn - October 17, 2010
It’s a lot less about the Jets having a good pass defense and much more about Orton targeting Gaffney for 4 catches and 65 yards. I kind of answered my own question.
But I haven’t even seen Lloyd and haven’t heard anything about an injury…
Simmsinns - October 17, 2010
Good game guys
You all have something special in Colt. I was extremely impressed with his composure and accuracy. The score really doesn’t tell how close this game was. I like your defense, and I think you all are a team on the rise and you may even be better than the Bengals.
Good luck on the rest of the season.
