The Cleveland Browns ended their season with their fourth straight win, the first time they've done that since 1994. A 5-11 record is an improvement over last year's 4-12 start. We'll have plenty of time to talk about Jerome Harrison's and Joshua Cribbs' contributions in the game later in the week, but for now let's talk about the playoff race the rest of the day.
The Steelers are up 27-24 in the fourth quarter, but Miami is pushing REALLY hard to rally for a win.
The Ravens take on the Raiders, needing a win to get in.
Go Miami and Oakland, and GO BROWNS!

So Big Ben broke his wrist, most likely.

. . . and some men say there is no God!
portland, oregon - January 3, 2010
This is turning into the best Sunday ever.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Ever.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
He is faking
TheRealSlimShady - January 3, 2010
Congratulation to the Browns
Well deserved nice victory.
Good luck in the offseason-made the right deceisions; and it looks like we will meet next year!
Zoltan from Budapest - January 3, 2010
Thanks for stopping by, appreciated your insights. Looking forward to next year’s battle.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Me too!
Zoltan from Budapest - January 3, 2010
Two teams we seem to play annually not in the division: Jax and Buffalo. Will play both next year again.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Yeah I think
Titans need to win in Seattle though
Zoltan from Budapest - January 3, 2010
Buffalo wins. Browns at worst draft 7th pending outcome of afternoon games.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Bye bye Berry and Suh =[
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Berry is still in play.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Suh for sure. Berry, I’d say depends on what happens later.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
berry will go to KC methinks
troy145 - January 3, 2010
If I’m the Chiefs, I protect that trillion dollar investment at QB.
nickjs21 - January 3, 2010
Exactly.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Berry could still happen.
We could end up taking Morgan from G-tech.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Only if we switch to a 4-3. Where would we play him now?
TheRealSlimShady - January 3, 2010
We convert him smart stuff. Like a Gholston project, but with benefits
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
He just can’t drop into coverage and might be too big. I’d rather have Joe Haden.
TheRealSlimShady - January 3, 2010
I’d like Haden I think if Berry is off the board as well.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Is the 6th pick for him too high?
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Impossible to say at this point. If we think he is a lockdown corner, we should take him.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Yeah, he’s really good (…obvious statement there).
emily522 - January 3, 2010
It would follow the Mangini blueprint (not that he will be making the decisions this time.) With Jets Mangini teams took Mangold and then Revis the next year. Browns could end up going Mack and then Haden the next year.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
I think Haden would be a nice pick. You can always find a good safety in later rounds. I’d love to get Coleman out of OSU.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Does that mean we draft a bust next season?
(Joking hopefully).
Bernie19Kosar - January 3, 2010
If Mangini were making the picks.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
I don’t have an answer for that, haha. I’ve never really watched the guy, but a lot of mocks have him going to us.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Can already hear the annual “trade down” chorus starting. . . .
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Steelers are out!
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Spoke too soon. There’s still a way for the Steelers to sneak in.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
I hate you
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
houston wins. does that mean steelers are out if either jets or ravens win?
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
They’re out regardless.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
no, i think they’re in if jets, ravens, and broncos all lose.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
You’re right.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Haha, except Cincy will lay down for the Jets if it means Steelers get in if they win.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
I’m rooting for whatever scenario sends the Steelers AND Braylon home.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Do postseason cathces count for BE?
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I don’t know and can’t seem to find an answer.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
You’d rather see Baltimore in than Braylon out? Wow.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Houston and Denver would be ideal, I think.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
I would rather have Houston and Jets.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Either OK with me.
woodsmeister - January 3, 2010
I don’t think Cinci will lay down on national tv, especially since winning gets them the #3 seed.
woodsmeister - January 3, 2010
What is the alternative, 4 seed?
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
…Duh.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Yes. They’re guaranteed no worse than the 4 seed now, but with the New England loss, they would get the 3 seed if they win.
woodsmeister - January 3, 2010
Yea I suppose it’s worth it then. In the scenario they would play NE in the AFC championship, they get home game.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
cincy vs. NE in afc championship game = poop sandwich
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
Yea, it won’t happen, but the Bengals can’t play that game knowing that scenario won’t happen.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
agree. just hope jets are better today.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
Yup.
Simmsinns - January 3, 2010
Houston wins! Steelers eliminated from the playoffs!
DisplacedBuckeye - January 3, 2010
Technically Baltimore and Jets could still lose.
Simmsinns - January 3, 2010
I thought Baltimore would still get it in that scenario.
DisplacedBuckeye - January 3, 2010
No, if they both lose, Steelers go.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Indeed.
Simmsinns - January 3, 2010

DisplacedBuckeye - January 3, 2010
Go, Denver, Go!
woodsmeister - January 3, 2010
Yeah, if the options are the Jets, Ravens or Broncos….I’m all for Denver.
DisplacedBuckeye - January 3, 2010
Anything that gets the Steelers out of the playoffs makes me satisfied haha.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Amen
DisplacedBuckeye - January 3, 2010
rec and amen
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
Agreed
Jayson732 - January 3, 2010
That’s tough for me. I absolutely hate the Ravens more than any team, but the Broncos ruined a few seasons for me growing up and I still haven’t forgiven them for that.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
Broncos are my third least favorite team.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Mine too, but better them and Houston in the playoffs than Baltimore and Pittsburgh.
woodsmeister - January 3, 2010
if baltimore loses, pitt will be 9-7, baltimore 8-8
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
Yeah, got it now.
DisplacedBuckeye - January 3, 2010
Not quite, but it helps.
woodsmeister - January 3, 2010
It’s all good, I’ve KNOWN the Steelers would miss since we beat them!
Simmsinns - January 3, 2010
Damn you Willie Parker.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
jets win, ravens lose would be perfect, as that puts both the steelers and ravens out.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
Ideal.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
What about BE tho?
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
i’d rather see BE win a super bowl than have the steelers ever win another football game of any kind. steelers hate trumps all for me.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010

30 – 24 Steelers – Dolphins
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Ok, let me get this straight. Steelers are eliminated if either the Jets, Ravens, or Broncos win?
emily522 - January 3, 2010
YES.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I don’t want the Ravens to get in either, but if they were the only team to win out of the 3 I’d be happy,
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Or if Tyler Thigpen has a Flutie moment.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Just as I hit the post button…INT.

SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Stick a fork in the Phish.
woodsmeister - January 3, 2010
mmm…sounds good.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
so they need ALL those teams to lose? Im so confused about all this now
troy145 - January 3, 2010
If the Jets, Broncos and Ravens all lose, Steelers go into the playoffs and play Cinci in Cincinatti
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Yes.
DEN, BAL, NYJ all have to lose to get PIT in the playoffs. If either of them wins, Steelers are done.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
From Rich Eisen twitter:
Here’s scoop: DEN needs to win and have NYJ or BAL lose. HOU needs 2 of NYJ, BAL & DEN to lose. And PIT needs all of NYJ, BAL & DEN to lose.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
So if DEN wins and NYJ and BAL lose, who gets in, DEN or HOU?
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Denver.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
I think
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Denver
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Then HOU really needs a DEN loss and a loss from either the NYJ or BAL.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
I think both?
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
Good call, both.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Yup. My bad.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
both
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
Shittsburgh win
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
I can actually root for Oakland for once. My dad will be proud haha.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Ugh, tough team to root for. Bunch of thugs. But then the Ravens are a bunch of convicts. Go Oakland.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
I think I’m going to watch the Denver game.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
i’ll flip between all of them. god bless sunday ticket.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
Haha $400 No thank you.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
only $220 or so for me as a renewing customer.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
its a splurge, but it feels worth it when i’m able to see every browns game living in central PA.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
I got to watch the Steelers today…
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
exactly.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
LOVE Sunday Ticket. Sadly I won’t be watching any Browns games when I’m in college :( No Direct TV there :(
emily522 - January 3, 2010
That’s okay, you’ll be too hungover on Sunday afternoons to enjoy the games anyway.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Haha, possibly. I could come home some days to watch them if I’m still close to home.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Um, I go to college and I’ve never drank bud.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
It was a joke.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Miller then?
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
?
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
You said you’ve never drank bud. Bud being a brand of beer. Miller being another brand of beer. Another joke.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
bud(weiser)
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Well thank god someone got it.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Well, I am embarrassed.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
don’t worry, it was clever, i laughed
notthatnoise - January 3, 2010
I’m not into it, either.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
So Holmgren and Mangini will have a sit down tomorrow most likely. I think if Mangini is on board with Holmgren, he will get another year. If he is combative and stubborn, he will be fired.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
He’s not going to be combative and stubborn — it’s not like he’s got a lot of options.
Bottom line: He deserves another year. No question about it.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
agree. he’ll do what he can to keep his job.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
Agree
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Yeah, he can’t be stubborn. Ryan Kelsey (think it was him) made a good point. If Mangini gets fired, he won’t get any other HC hire. He’s desperate, and I’ll be disappointed if he’s fired.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I think this last six weeks has given Mangini a shot at another position were he fired here.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Possibly. I wouldn’t want to hire a guy who was fired twice in back to back seasons, though.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I think Mangini has been preparing himself to get on board. It seems like both of them have been keeping the possibility open. If Mangini stays I think it’s a win win situation. I can’t think of anyone that Holmgren would be able to pull this year and if Mangini is terrible next year he can fire him then. If he performs well Holmgren can take the credit for sticking with him.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
KC just scored.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Completed passes in the Browns wins this season: 2, 6, 10, 8, 7
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
looks awful on paper, but i’ll take the wins.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
Agree, but you can’t do much better than 500 with those numbers. If you are going to win in the nfl, you need to have a credible passing game. We don’t have that right now.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Yea, we need a QB before we can really be a consistently good team.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
right, but given what we have this year, and those numbers above, 5-11 is probably okay.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
6-10. I am going to pretend that we won the Detroit game.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
7 – 9
Bengals game
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Bengals game they legitimately won I think though even though it went to OT.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
no way in hell was that legitimate, the kicker missed the FG and they still called it good
North Coast Flea - January 3, 2010
yeah, all joking aside, it was 5-11 with one we should have one and about 3 others that we played okay against good teams.
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
“won”
Dawg Nuts - January 3, 2010
If we can get that, this can be a really good team.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Ha!
emily522 - January 3, 2010
If you’re wondering how two specific teams in the AFC can get in, these were all the scenarios heading into today:
Link
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
Who thinks we can sign Jamal as a RB Coach?
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I don’t know. I wonder if he’s already moved out of Cleveland.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
He was at the game today for Jerome
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I bet Lewis comments about Mangini earlier this year were because Mangini refused to play Harrison and kept running him out there.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
I would love Jamal to be our RB coach, but he really doesn’t seem to like it here in Cleveland
North Coast Flea - January 3, 2010
Boo Denver.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Does Seattle take a QB in the draft this year? If so, it may not really matter if we should root for them to win or lose today.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Clausen…
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
is a QB.
TheRealSlimShady - January 3, 2010
Good job Mr. 4.25 GPA!
Wanna cookie?
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Or a Brownie?
Sorry bad joke.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
No. We should want the best draft pick regardless. You don’t know whether there is some team that will want to give a lot to get in front of Seattle. And you don’t know if maybe MH sees something in Clausen that we don’t — I’d trust his judgment over ours.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Clausen won’t be the best pick available till the second round though…
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
uh oh here comes that argument
notthatnoise - January 3, 2010
So Magahee just destroyed a Raiders DB. It was Peterson/ Wright – ish.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Jinx.
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
McGahee just murdered Eugene.
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
Nice.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I actually felt bad for that guy.
It will be in every highlight tonight.
Bernie19Kosar - January 3, 2010
I feel bad for Pat White.
I’m genuinely concerned.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Just watched the game highlights on NFL.com. Another incredible game from Vickers.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Just got back from the game. Vickers was on the war path today.
Monsters of the Midway - January 3, 2010
He’s been the difference on offense. Absolute beast.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Ravens miss the field goal at the end of the half; Charlie Frye is playing well. Come on Oakland, put together a strong second half and win this thing!
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
An Oakland win has the double benefit of knocking the Ravens out and guaranteeing we pick ahead of the Raiders.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
If Washington can hold on and beat San Diego, the 5th pick potentially comes into play for the Browns.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
That’d be nice.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
If Oakland had a good QB, they could be a pretty good team.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
(Kind of like us.)
emily522 - January 3, 2010
JaMarcus Russell in for Frye’s injury.
…
Congrats on your playoff berth, Baltimore! :p
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
What’s with Frye getting knocked out every odd game?
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Oh, God.
Let’s look on the bright side of Baltimore’s winning:
GOODBYE PITTSBURGH!!!!
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Baltimore is, in my opinion, by far the best team of those in the hunt.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
I’d put Denver and Houston in front of them.
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
i don’t know about denver, i think they snuck up on a lot of teams. i think houston is probably the best of the bunch
notthatnoise - January 3, 2010
When I see Denver, I think of Denny Green.
They are who we thought they were!

Bernie19Kosar - January 3, 2010
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Game over.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
He completed a pass!
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Oh come on, it’s not like Frye is any good.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
I daresay he’s better than JaMarcus.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I’m not so sure….but against that D who comes in when russell goes down?
Red-Right-88 - January 3, 2010
Michael Bush.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
Ha!
Jamarcus: 1/1 -18 yards
emily522 - January 3, 2010
The “-” is no typo.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Haha, believable. However, it was just a mistake in the online stat sheets at the moment. i.e. see this:
Oakland – 13:18
1st-10, BAL10 13:18 M. Bush rushed up the middle for 77 yard gain
1st-10, BAL13 12:37 J. Russell passed to C. Schilens down the middle for 56 yard gain
1st-10, BAL31 12:06 M. Bush rushed to the right for 33 yard gain
1st-10, BAL36 11:22 J. Russell passed to M. Bush to the left for 5 yard gain
1st-10, OAK41 10:31 M. Bush rushed up the middle for 3 yard loss
4th-4, OAK38 9:58 S. Lechler punt. C. Carr returned punt for 27 yards. BAL committed 10 yard penalty
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
Wow, haha.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Wow, it’s sad that your number one pick going in actually lowers your chance of victory.
gahnki - January 3, 2010
Hello, Vernon Gholston…
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Denver struggling mightily, just as I expected.
Looks like Houston has a shot.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
KC has challenged CIN and now DEN, yet we beat them.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
And they’ve held those much better offenses to way lower scores.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Jamal Charles is a MONSTER.
Simmsinns - January 3, 2010
Lechler absolutely crushed that punt.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
He’s got a rocket launcher for a leg.
Simmsinns - January 3, 2010
Washington and Seattle both winning by slim margins. Let’s hope they keep it up.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Orton just threw 2 beautiful balls.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
TD Denver. Tied at 17 with the XP.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Boo.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Haha, Oakland get the ball back at midfield down by 4. I feel bad for them.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Why?
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
Because they actually have a shot! Worst thing you can give a team with a god awful QB is hope.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
We won two games in a row with DA at QB ;)
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
We never depended on him to win them, now did we?
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
We won two games in a row with DA
at QB ;)handing the ball off to Harrison, Jennings, and Cribbs lol.emily522 - January 3, 2010
Orton doesn’t suck near as bad as I thought.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
What I find funny is that he’s been leaps and bounds better than Jay Cutler.
Brilliant trade by Josh McDaniels.
Simmsinns - January 3, 2010
I’ll admit to still being on the Cutler bandwagon (feeling lonely), but considering what Denver got in the trade, it was a huge win for them.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Really? From what I’ve seen, he’s a QB that plays as good as his surroundings. Hell it might just be worse, it’s possible his 2008 was to him, as 2007 was to Derek Anderson.
Simmsinns - January 3, 2010
I just think the Bears are a mess, and it’s not entirely fair to evaluate him on that. No WRs, terrible O line, decent RB at best. Not a lot to play with.
I watched a few Bears games and a number of Cutler’s picks were actually the WRs fault.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
I actually think Cutler will be good long term for Chicago too. But considering all the picks that Denver got for him, they’re still the winners in that trade.
bbstirrd - January 3, 2010
I’m glad I have company.
Bernie19Kosar - January 3, 2010
Agreed. And again, SO GLAD we did not trade for Cutler.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Point is moot now but Cutler would have never come here if we tried. I think he wanted a big market and a competitive team.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Ok but if he would have considered it, I still wouldn’t want him.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Agreed. A lot of people we’re calling for it, I’m happy it didn’t happen.
Simmsinns - January 3, 2010
Russell threw one of the best passed I’ve seen today. In between three guys at blazing speed.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Yep, he’s doing well so far. Adds to why the Ravens would/should be a first-round playoff exit if they make it.
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
I think his performance so far has been more Russell playing well than Baltimore defending poorly. We’ll see.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Chiefs take lead with a FG
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
TD now 27-17 Chiefs
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Awesome!
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Up 10
emily522 - January 3, 2010
And it was a return from an Orton pick lol. We jinxed him.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Wow, GB is killing AZ.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
It was back-ups (AZ) vs. starters (GB) for most of the scoring.
Simmsinns - January 3, 2010
If all 3 teams lose and the Steelers get in, I will die.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I really think Jets wins and we are okay.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
I’d have laid money on Denver losing today without its main offensive weapons. I don’t bet, but if I’d had to pick an underdog to win today, it was Kansas City.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
I think it was kind of dumb for McDaniels to bench those players with playoffs on the line.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
He’s a very proud coach, and will live and die by his ways.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
As it should be.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
We could really use a Seattle win.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Washington too.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Washington is tricky. According to something I read online, to pick ahead of Washington, we would need Washington, Oakland and the Jets to all win for us to pick ahead of WAS.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Ah, I see.
Well we do want those 3 teams to win so we’ll see!
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Russell threw a ridiculous pick. Oh well.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
TD Denver. 27-24.
BuenosAires_Dawg - January 3, 2010
Chris Johnson approaching 2,000 yards rushing.
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
Hit it.
Simmsinns - January 3, 2010
Another Russel cough-up.
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
I’d say he is a top 10 bust.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I hate to say it, but Terrell Pryor is very reminiscent of JaMarcus…
Les Fleurs Du Mal - January 3, 2010
I think Pryor’s better.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
But I never watched JaMarcus in college, so I’m comparing Pryor now to JaMarcus now which doesn’t make sense.
Pryor won’t be a #1 pick, though.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
true dat
Les Fleurs Du Mal - January 3, 2010
Pryor has a motor; Russell has a spare tire.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
And slight mental retardation, as shown by his speech.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Pryor isnt exactly David Foster Wallace, either
Les Fleurs Du Mal - January 3, 2010
Yes, he has not killed himself so they differ there.
gahnki - January 3, 2010
I think Pryor will be Pat White-ish in the NFL unless he really improves his passing.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
i think its unfair to judge his NFL prospects as a sophomore. remember how troy smith looked his sophomore year? completely one dimensional
notthatnoise - January 3, 2010
Derrick Johnson with another pick six?
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
KC?
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Love it. Denver is in big trouble.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
I wish we had played Denver toward the end of the season instead of the beginning.
bbstirrd - January 3, 2010
Derrick Johnson again! Pick 6 second time this game
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Wow!
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Seattle just netted a 14 yard punt.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Lets go Raiders. Big season ending drive for both themselves and the Ravens
Les Fleurs Du Mal - January 3, 2010
Bad thing is that Oakland would need to successfully execute a two-pointer too.
Any chance Losman comes in?
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
JaMarcus goes 3 and out.
Les Fleurs Du Mal - January 3, 2010
We want Frye.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Derrick Johnson with a third pick six!
Only kidding ;)
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
Tennessee takes the lead on a Chris Johnson run. Will need a Seattle TD to pick 6th.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Ravens are going to win, and I find it fitting to post this:
emily522 - January 3, 2010
why is this not green yet?
notthatnoise - January 3, 2010
That’s what I’ve been wondering. I thought it was green-worthy haha.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
It’s been wallpaper worthy for about 4 weeks.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
i’ll rec that one, can’t stand that guy…
Jayson732 - January 4, 2010
Ravens are going to the postseason :-/
I guess we have one team to boo next week, although this means Pittsburgh is out.
Now I want the Texans to get in, meaning the Jets need to lose tonight.
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
It’ll be very interesting to see where Jerome Harrison and Jamaal Charles go on fantasy draft boards next season.
Chris Pokorny - January 3, 2010
Jamaal Charles may be a 1st round pick, but surely a 2nd. I think Harrison is a 5th rounder.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Jamaal Charles big TD run… at 259 yards on the day. Denver is toast!
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Wow, if he passes Harrison.
Damn,
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Ravens win meaning we cannot pass Wash on SOS. We either pick 6th or 7th depending on the Seattle game.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Last time we picked 6 we got K2. Last time we picked 7 we got Mike Pruitt.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Pruitt time.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE 6!
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Pruitt was a damn good RB.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
No clue who that is haha.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I must have been thinking of someone else…
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
7378 yards and 56 career TDs. Two time Pro Bowler. Number 43 on the all-time rushing list.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Hm.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Interception by the Titans. Seattle will lose meaning the Browns have the 7th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Good news: We are by far not the worst team.
Bad news: Unless Berry has an average combine, we will not get him.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
:(
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I’m hoping that he has middle school knee injury that scares teams away.
I really doubt he does much at the combine.
Bernie19Kosar - January 3, 2010
I just don’t want him to have a bad enough combine that scares everyone away… including us.
I don’t want him to have a good enough one that gets him picked before us.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Is this 100% for sure? I assumed Seattle had the worse SOS which would mean they pick ahead of us. Or do we pick ahead of Oakland?
cheech99 - January 3, 2010
Interception by KC
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Does anyone think we could take Bradford in the 1st?
emily522 - January 3, 2010
No. Washington will take him.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
And I really don’t want a QB in the 1st or 2nd.
Adamantly.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Ah, yeah. You’re right.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I would say our most likely positions to be drafted are DB, QB, OLB, WR in the first in that order.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
I’d say flip QB and OLB.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I tend to be against drafting a QB in the first (especially with what’s available), but don’t be surprised if we do draft one. Holmgren is going to want a QB to build around. I don’t see him thinking he can build around BQ (unless he sees something I don’t), and I don’t see anyone in free agency. So, I would put our chances of drafting a QB in the first or second at better than 50/50.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Troy Smith
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Tebow.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
When you say “Tebow” do you mean “Jesus Christ”? I’ve heard that the two have become synonymous.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
That’s him. Seriously, though, I wonder where he does go in the draft. Could see him going in the first. Could see him going in the third. Neither would surprise me.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
I’m just glad we don’t have to hear college football commentator’s praising him.
Urban Meyer said that Tebow was “one of the most efficient QBs ever” and “a winner” so he’ll do great in the NFL.
Yeah, Urban. Graham Harrell was efficient at Tech. Where’s he now?
emily522 - January 3, 2010
CFL!
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Oh, really? I had no idea.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Haha yah.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Ha, he’s on the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
And we share the same birthday. You learn something new every day, I guess. Haha.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
No ones stupid to take him in the first.
MAYBE in the 5th as a RB
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Jacksonville…
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Possibly
emily522 - January 3, 2010
The GM has shot down the Mayor repeatedly on that. He absolutely hates that idea.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Good. That’d be really stupid and I’d feel bad for Jacksonville fans if that actually happened.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
The funniest comment during the Sugar Bowl was, “How can anyone imagine a season of CFB without those two (Meyer and Tebow)?” I don’t know? Anyone over the age of four probably can.
gahnki - January 3, 2010
gag.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Oh. My. God.
Hey, I can imagine it. And guess what? It saves me a lot of pain normally caused my bashing my head against the wall while announcers praise Saint Tebow.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I think there are many announcers out there that ruin the experience of watching sports. The hyperbole is suffocating.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
And Troy Smith is the second coming of Charlie Frye if we get him, i.e. local kid that we put way too much faith in.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Charlie Frye has the quickest 5 step drop I’ve ever seen. Too bad the rest of his game blows.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
No. He has actual skill.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Yeah.
Smith > Frye
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Realistically, do you really think Holgren would look at him?
emily522 - January 3, 2010
No. Not his type of QB.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Bradford kind of strikes me as a Holmgren QB actually. Tall, agile, accurate.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
That’s what I’ve read.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Ok, say the Rams pass on Clausen. He falls to Washington. Washington could definitely take him over Bradford.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Then we could take Bradford.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I think that’s right.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
If we could somehow be sure that his shoulder’s fine, I really would not be opposed to Bradford.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
i don’t know why everyone is so scared of his shoulder, its the same injury eli manning had a few years ago, and he turned out fine.
notthatnoise - January 3, 2010
Funny you mention Eli. On walterfootball.com, when they compare a prospect to a current player, they compared Eli to Bradford.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
i would be 100% ok with eli manning as my qb
notthatnoise - January 3, 2010
Same here.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Exactly what I’m saying.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I’d like to see them go DB, or trade down and grab a stud Guard in the later half of the first.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
RT more than RG
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I am against drafting a guard in the first, but wouldn’t mind it in round 2.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
I say you don’t pass on Steve Hutchinson if Steve Hutchinson is there. (Not saying that any of the Guards in this draft are of Hutchinson’s caliber — I don’t know — but if there is someone there who could be Hutchinson, I’m all for it.)
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
I love the kid from Idaho, Mike Iupati.
Beast.
Bernie19Kosar - January 3, 2010
I’ve heard that about Iupati but haven’t seen him play.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
I really paid him attention during the BGSU-Idaho Bowl game.
Granted it was BGSU, but Iupati was a bulldozer. It was one of those performances when it looks like a man amongst boys. Just crushing people.
Here is a quick clip of him destroying Rey Maualuga on a blitz. He is the LG.
Bernie19Kosar - January 3, 2010
Yeah, but coming from a KSU student, it’s BGSU.
Or as I like to call it, BGSTD.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Destroy is right!
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Which QB though? Clausen and Bradford will probably be gone.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Bradford is definitely up in the air coming back from his shoulder injury. Anything can happen between now and April.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Clausen will still be there at the 7th pick. And he’ll be there for the 37th pick also…
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
You really think so? I know Dorn has said they will, but I find it hard to believe that the Rams pass on Clausen. Unless they want Locker next year…
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I continue to believe Suh is an automatic at number 1.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Jinx.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Rams will take Suh
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Personally I think it could go either way and everyone will be speculating if they pick Clausen or Suh.
If I had to pick any QB to take in the draft for us, I think at this point I’d say go with Clausen over Bradford.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I think it’s more likely that the Rams trade down with a team in the top ten who wants Suh.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Never expect the Rams to do something smart. Much like the Lions.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
You think Stafford was a mistake at 1? I don’t.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
I liked what I saw from Stafford this year.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Me too — that’s why I was suprised to see that pick implicitly called bad.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
If they get an o-line he’ll be good.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I meant in general. And Stafford is a huge mistake. Also, in general.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Why do you think that?
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I just thought he was over hyped.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
OK, it’s hard to take this kind of analysis seriously.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Wow, that’d be really smart of them.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Maybe we should just wait four years, pick Nick Montana out of Washington, and hope that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
(Kidding. A little bit.)
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Um, or just three to get his brother from ND.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I thought his brother left ND because of Crist or w/e his name is?
emily522 - January 3, 2010
He’s transferring back after he gets starting experience.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Oh, okay.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Has Mallet declared?
emily522 - January 3, 2010
He shouldn’t He’s declaring career suicide if he is.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Agreed. I watched him vs. ECU. He needs to stay at least another year vs. Arkansas.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
at Arkansas*
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Wes Welker tears both ACL and MCL.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Ouch.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Disaster for the Pats. Bill Pollian is grinning right now (for several reasons).
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Tom Brady with 3 fractured ribs and a broken ring finger.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Oh my.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Damn!
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Damn! And at least his his PCL is still okay.
Humor, of course.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I just saw it happen. That plant was disgusting. His shin looked like it was on a swivel. A swivel that moves more freely than the actual swivel that is your knee…
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
thats what happened to me my senior year of HS football, he’s done for this year but he’ll be back fine next year.
notthatnoise - January 3, 2010
I hope Braylon embarrasses himself on national TV again.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Cincy has the option of who they want to play next week. A win and they play Houston, a loss and they have a rematch against the Jets.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
I’m good either way, so long as Braylon makes a fool of himself.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
I wouldn’t want to play the Texans.
Give me a rookie QB on the road any day of the week.
The Texans can flat out move the ball.
Bernie19Kosar - January 3, 2010
I don’t get the Braylon hate I see here — must be an OSU thing. I was happy to see him go for several reasons, but he is not hateworthy in any way to me.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Oh, geez. No. We do not hate Braylon because he is from U of M. We hate him because he is a tool, douchebag, etc.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
There’s too many pejoratives to list! :)
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
I am sure you loved him in 2007.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
Yeah, but that was before he started acting like a jackass.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
Yeah, and before he started dropping everything.
TheDriveStillHurts - January 3, 2010
No. It’s Cleveland hate. He’s a douche dude.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I have been a UM fan for awhile (not my favorite, but one I grew up pulling for) and not an OSU fan (obviously) however I’m not a fan of Braylon either. He wants the attention and the accolades without doing the work or earning the stats.
As much as many hate TO and some Moss. Those two guys have at least put up the numbers to be considered great receivers.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
I don’t hate Edwards.
I think that he acted like a boob sometimes (the fight, his comments about the fans, etc.) but I think he was still the biggest offensive threat we have had since ’99.
I think a lot of people go over board with it.
Bernie19Kosar - January 3, 2010
That is really saying a lot.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
Hilarious Costas interview with Chad85 right now. Chad says if Revis shuts him down tonight, he will change his name back to Johnson.
Roger Dorn - January 3, 2010
He would say that.
emily522 - January 3, 2010
That’d be amazing.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
What is his definition of shutdown?
No TD’s, or catches?
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
As much as I dislike Cincy, I like Chad. Sometimes he might go overboard and I didn’t like his offseason antics, but usually his antics make the game fun and are usually in good spirits.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
So starting in place of Wes Welker will be Julian Edleman.
My man from KSU!
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010

I feel like Hodges isn’t allowed to think he’s part of the team.
I like Barton. What he said is correct.
Cribbs is down right amazing.

Wright is absolutely, 100% correct.

You should probably cut the “3 hours ago” part out…
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I thought about that, but I kept it because it gives it something extra. LIke he’s constantly walking around saying it.
The only thing better would be if he had said
They gone have to stop sleeping on Eric Wright one day. Eric Wright gotta be one of the best
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
Great players that talk in third person are, oddly enough, great.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Man, this may be the happiest 5-11 team in history.
I really like these guys. I’d love it if Mangini stayed and the team was built.
gahnki - January 3, 2010
+1
emily522 - January 3, 2010
I’m beginning to think that a little tension (a little, not a hatred) between Mangini and Holmgren wouldn’t be a bad thing. It might serve to keep them in check. Also I think Mangini is a good coach and Holmgren has proven himself to be a good coach, so if they can work together it gives us a huge advantage moving forward.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
Ditto.
RelapsingDawgCatcher - January 4, 2010
Great to hear that the players love Ryan too, sort of lobbying for Holmgren to keep him.

SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
GO EDWARDS! YOU LET A PERFECT BOMB SAIL THROUGH YOUR HANDS!
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Damn, I missed it.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
You may have missed it, but if you dig into your Braylon memory bank you’ve seen it many times.
Villeslgr - January 3, 2010
Almost the exact version of the 2nd 2008 Ravens game bomb he dropped. Except he was actually turned around to watch the ball the whole time.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
Glad it happened, even if I didn’t see it.
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Wouldn’t it be funny if Braylon simply needs some glasses – like ‘Wild Thing’ – to turn him into the superstar everyone thinks he should be. When is the last time he had his eyes checked?
tribe71 - January 3, 2010
That would be AWESOME!
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Do playoff catches count toward that total to move from a 3rd to 2nd rounder for Edwards?
Red-Right-88 - January 4, 2010
I wish I knew…
golanbatrac - January 4, 2010
Doubtful.
gahnki - January 4, 2010
Interesting season end stat:
We finished number one in the league in conversions of two yards or less on 3rd and 4th down when running behind the center. Mack led the way to a 93% conversion rate. 93%. That’s ridiculous.
We tied for fifth in the league for fewest negative rushing plays when running behind the center (7 total).
golanbatrac - January 3, 2010
Mack for rookie of the year.
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
That would be cool, but unlikely. I imagine it’ll go to a more flashy player like Percy Harvin. But if it were up to me, Jairus Byrd, Brian Cushing, James Laurinaitis, Clay Matthews, and Brian Orakpo would all be on my
shortlist.Simmsinns - January 3, 2010
Joe Thomas was second in 2007 only behind AP right?
SpecialBrownie - January 3, 2010
I think it went Peterson, Thomas and Lynch with Thomas earning the only first place vote that Peterson didn’t get.
Bernie19Kosar - January 4, 2010
