Too Funny: Braylon Edwards Disses Jets Playcalling

In the official gameday thread we had on Dawgs By Nature yesterday, a few of us joked around at what Braylon Edwards would say after "his" Jets were ousted from the postseason by the Indianapolis Colts. As arrogant and annoying as Edwards is, even I didn't expect him to turn on the Jets so quickly...

Star-divide

From Pro Football Talk...

New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards got off to a big start on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. But after his 80-yard touchdown in the second quarter, Edwards never caught the ball again.

After the game, Edwards hinted that he wasn't pleased with the second-half play calling.

"I don't call the plays," Edwards said. "I just run them."

Edwards also said "We didn't have the same attitude" in the second half, and when reporters asked him if he felt like he wasn't used enough, he said, "I don't know. You have to interview the players and coaches. It just wasn't the same."

Both Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said they thought an appropriate number of plays were called for Edwards, although Schottenheimer added that the Colts shifted their coverage to make it harder to get Edwards open deep.

Asked if he was upset, Edwards said, "No disrespect, but you witnessed the game."

Although Braylon didn't have a huge drop, quotes like these are just as fun to see because they continue to expose Braylon's cancerous presence to a team. After New York fans start hating him, I'd love to see what excuse he and his father come up with for two vastly different cities having such hatred toward this "star" player.

He’ll be out of the league soon and we won’t have to hear from him anymore.

Have fun being a Raider with DA Braylon.

I can’t help but think that the Raiders are the most logical landing spot for him.

him = BE

And DA of course

And Gerard Warren. Oh, that one already happened…

Speaking of the Raiders and logical places for players to land:
I still want to see this happen just so I can laugh.

His 40 time isn’t good enough.

Are you kidding? Or might this actually happen?

This may be an actual possibility. I do not see the Jets wanting to pay for him and I bet everything that the Raiders cut JR for DA.

LOL and then we get to hear how much happier DA is as a backup in Oakland and how he was mistreated in Cleveland…Can’t wait.

Braylon “I’m Just as Big a Douche as Stan” Edwards

I believe the Jets’ coaching staff doesn’t like UM players. They purposely prevented BE from starring in this game. Soon we will learn that New Yorkers don’t like UM players either.

He never had a fair chance! Leave Braylon alone! Leave him alone!!

I feel a Chris Crocker video coming.

I have a feeling that’s the guy from the video, but that’s also the name of a former Browns and current Bengals safety.

Wouldn’t anyone else love to see Bengals Crocker doing a webresponse video (a la “Leave Brittany Alone”)? It might actually be more confusing than Stephon Marbury’s videos from the summer.

The one where he said that devils made him smack a curb?

must be because of the failed Drew Henson experience.

“I don’t call the plays, I just run them…..No disrespect, but you witnessed the game.”

What a freaking choad.

Prick?

Tiny little wiener?

Taint

Okay. Let’s stop because all this starts with me and it’s not football worthy.

No, that’s what a chode is, i misspelled. just woke up.

I do recall seeing a pass to BE in I think the 3rd quarter. I admit it wasn’t a perfect pass as it was slightly behind him but then again it did hit him on the HANDS before bouncing into the air where unfortunately no colts player was close enough to intercept it.

Yep. Not a perfect pass, but definitely one a receiver of his stature (in his and his father’s eyes) should catch.

After all the practice from DA, you’d expect him to be able to catch passes thrown behind him.

Wow, Braylon. Just…wow.

The Colts were doing things to make sure he didn’t get loose on them again, especially after the TD catch and especially after this started to look like a game where Braylon would catch more balls than he would drop.

What do you want Sanchez to do if you can’t beat double coverage or if the reads tell him to go somewhere else? Did you not realize that you were in the playoffs because of your defense and running game, not deep balls thrown to you?

Did you not realize that you were in the playoffs because of your defense and running game, not deep balls thrown to you?

No, he didn’t.

On the Jets’ blog, their fans have different reactions about Douche Bag’s comments.
Some say they agree, others are telling him to shut up. lol

Some say they agree

Those particular Jets fans are either in denial, or just stupid, maybe both.

I can kind of relate to the denial thing, after the 2008 win over the Giants, I kept convincing myself, that Braylon and this offense was “back.” I was just delaying the inevitable truth that he was a shitty, horribly inconsistent receiver.

The Braylon train out of new york continues unabated. All aboard.

He’ll probably last one more year before the honeymoon is over. The squabbling has already begun…

As I said before…I’m sitting back in the recliner, hands behind head, a drink in hand and a look of bemusement.

It looks like you threw your hat into the discussion over at Gang Green… It’s remarkable to see most of the comments are supporting Braylon.

Well, in the original post there is nothing about him bashing the playcalling, just his comments about ‘attitude.’

It’s remarkable to see most of the comments are supporting Braylon.

Is it?
We did for waaay longer than we should have when he was here. It’s more based on Jets fans wanting to believe he will work out there, hoping, and doing a bit of excuse making in the process. We all do it to a certain extent with our teams…we want so bad for it to work out we are continually willing to deceive ourselves.

True. In our defense we did not have much of a history to apply to our judgment. Braylon did have ’07 for us to dream about. We thought he needed some growing up and waited for that to happen. So, we held out hope. At this point, I can understand some Jets fans with hope. I expect the majority to see Braylon for the numbskull he is.

Yeah. Hope.

Actually, I was about to put all of my hope into a Hefty bag and chuck it, but then we beat the Steelers. So now hope is back in my life.

So, Steptoe still has a chance to make it, doesn’t he?

I definitely let Braylon’s boatload of talent and my hope he would start catching again blind me while he was here.

I expect the majority to see Braylon for the numbskull he is.

Hey, bottom line— If you produce on the field you can be as much of a numbskull off it as you want to be. Problem is, Braylon’s mouth constantly writes checks his ass can’t cash….

Braylon is in New York. First rule of thumb there is “keep your mouth shut”. The second rule is “think happy thoughts”. Braylon doesn’t seem to be able to do either. Just think how much more of an asset he’d be to his team if he just played football.

New York is filled with a lot of Notre Dame fans. Besides Syracuse, is there another national NCAA football team the NY market follows? So, the scapegoat for the Edwards will be that NY fans are a bunch of Notre Dame fans who also hate Michigan. Therefore, they never gave him a chance…

Come to think of it, the only city where Braylon may find a friendly fanbase is Detroit.

Rutgers has a solid following in NY.

Hey, all you have to do is pay him like an all-star #1 wide receiver, throw him the ball 70% of all passing plays, let him ride the stationary bike during mini-camp (because he’s tired from being at ‘da’ club the night before), and turn down the stadium lights on game day.

A lot of Big Ten schools have big followings in NY, even Michigan.

I have always tried to stay away from totally crapping on Braylon.

But wow, what an ass.

Enjoy him NY, he is yours for another season.

Hey guys, clevelandbrowns.com has our top 10 plays of ’09 up.

Video here

lol 9 of ’em in the last 4 games. Go figure. Go Browns.

2 of them were punts

I think I’d put 8 at number 1

What do you think the odds are of Braylon edwards ever being that close to a Super Bowl again?

To call out a coaching staff that seemed to be doing EVERYTHING right down the stretch – and one with an immensely popular HC as well? Smooth…

Enjoy the Raiders jackass.

I’d say about 0%, considering I think he’ll be out of the league soon. Maybe that’s wishful thinking.

I’d say .000001% cause anything is possible.

i think his raw talent will keep him in the league. look at gerrard warren.

I think whatever he signs his next contract for will keep him in the league. If he signs a long term expensive contract his team might be more willing to keep him around as opposed to cutting him. On the flip side, that would make it harder to trade him.

This is based off of the assumption that there is a new cap within the next few years.

The only thing I can think of is Warren plays a position with rarer guys. There are a bazillion physically talented WRs with bad hands out there, many of whom have more hope of ever developing hands and would cost less than Braylon.

There are only so many 300lb+ guys who are as physically gifted as Warren, even if they give equally inconsistent effort.

That said, 0% was probably way too low. He’ll probably get a deal, and a pretty good one. Just wishful thinking.

I was just reading the jets SN blog post about the draft and they are still all convinced braylon was a bargain in that trade (which looks more lopsided every day). They also think his drop problem will go away with more reps with sanchez.

talk about looking at things through rose-colored glasses.

i almost feel bad for them. almost.

Can we just stop posting about BE he is gone and all of us here know he is a little bitch with no hands!

I got to listen to BE on NFL Replay after his score….The ole’ "All day…ALLLLL day,’ comment. Then he proceeded to not catch another ball….all day.

So the “All day…ALLLLL day”, was that in reference to him having that route open (because the Colts didn’t believe he would actually catch the ball), or him having actually caught the ball?

In his mind I’m sure it was both, but in reality I think it was the former.
