With the offseason here, I'd like to begin a daily feature that many of you have been clamoring for, and that is a "general news and nuggets" type of post. I am looking for suggestions on what to call this piece, whether it be something clever and original or something that is plain but acceptable for its purpose. An example would be the title "Fear the Links" for our Cavaliers site "Fear the Sword." Please list your suggestion(s) in this thread!
Two Cleveland Browns players made the All-Pro team, according to the Associated Press. Those players are kick returner Joshua Cribbs and left tackle Joe Thomas. Of the teams who didn't have any players who were All-Pro?
The New York Giants, Washington, Atlanta, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Chicago, Detroit, Seattle, St. Louis, Miami, Buffalo, Jacksonville, Cincinnati, Kansas City and Pittsburgh had no All-Pros this season.
We can't let either of these players get away from our team. The link from SBNation.com above outlines the entire first-team All-Pro list.
In the article, Pluto outlines some of his early thoughts on the revised regime:
Mangini said he was impressed how Holmgren called the entire coaching staff into a meeting room to inform them that Mangini would remain. He also talked to them about his basic approach to running the team, and explained some general expectations that he has for the staff.
"It put everyone at ease," said Mangini. "I'm not sure I would have thought to do that if I were in Mike's position. I'm glad he did it."
Mangini is losing some power, as the draft will be guided by Heckert. But Mangini said Heckert's Eagles often picked players that he liked.
It's gotten so bad with Braylon Edwards' big drops in New York that his coach and his teammates are basically saying, "ok, we know he's had some huge drops, but we GUARANTEE he will have a HUGE game soon!" It will just make it all-the-more-special if he drops another critical pass this weekend against the San Diego Chargers.
"Absolutely," Sanchez said. "Just seeing the kind of catches he makes in practice, and even the catches he’s made in the games — I guess the drops would stand out, just like interceptions stand out for me — he’s in a tough position. Does he think he should catch those balls? Absolutely. Do we talk about it? All the time. And do we get in the extra work? Yes. So we’re doing the right things to make that happen, and it’s only a matter of time. He’s a playmaker, he’s a stud, and you feed the studs, you just keep throwing him the ball, and he’s bound to catch it."

you would think that, but you’d be wrong.

It makes me happy that they’re still in the denial phase.
danvail - January 14, 2010
Is anger or bargaining next? Either way it’ll be interesting to watch.
tjk_doc - January 14, 2010
I love the idea for this kind of post. Its a great way to bring regular and new traffic to the site. I recently started one on the Blue Jackets SBN site “The Cannon.” Check it out.
Shameless plugs aside…
Call it…?
“Browns Dog Piles” OR
“Browns Bone Yard” OR
If you wanted to go the route of the Cavs, “Links by Nature.”

Kibbles ‘n’ Bits

golanbatrac - January 14, 2010
I do like kibbles and bits (or anything that rags on grossi). kibbles and bits is a great way to describes these fun, small types of stories.
bross09 - January 14, 2010
Kibbles n bits FTW
Andrew Tolliver - January 14, 2010
Heh…people seem to like the Kibbles ‘n’ Bits one, so I’ll consider that for a future poll of the most popular names.
Chris Pokorny - January 14, 2010
Poll it up. We need an official vote here. Maybe a series of votes. Include all ideas, good and bad, then take the top 5 or 10 and then we can vote again.
Andrew Tolliver - January 14, 2010
Around the Pound
Buckeye Brad - January 14, 2010
This is a good one.
golanbatrac - January 14, 2010
i’m a big fan of this one. it has a nice ring.
Dawg Nuts - January 14, 2010
I like that one.
emily522 - January 14, 2010
Winner, IMO.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2010
good…hard to decide btwn this and the bits
bross09 - January 14, 2010
“Around the Pound”…the best one yet
rockybrown - January 14, 2010

Rabies Shots?
RelapsingDawgCatcher - January 15, 2010
Ok now we’re being rediculous.
Andrew Tolliver - January 15, 2010
Humping the leg!
SpecialBrownie - January 15, 2010
I rest my case.
Andrew Tolliver - January 15, 2010
All in all, Mangini seems to be taking this well. I haven’t been this excited about a total FO picture since… ever.
danvail - January 14, 2010
I’d imagine it’s quite the relief to have been vetted and retained by a coach of Holmgren’s stature. The man’s had a rough couple of years…
golanbatrac - January 14, 2010
hopefully this takes some pressure off and we can see a little improvement in his coaching.
notthatnoise - January 14, 2010
It also brings the talk into interesting topics besides football for those who might want to talk about it…like the fact that 24 is so damn confusing and they shouldn’t have even made a spider man 3
I love the fact that cincy made the playoffs and had no all pro’s…
bross09 - January 14, 2010
I’d rather be in the playoffs then have a team full of all pro’s
Villeslgr - January 14, 2010
And now the Bengals are neither in the playoffs nor have any AllPros. Same with PIT.
danvail - January 14, 2010
yeah…they can just suck it…we got cribbs!! and thomas!!
bross09 - January 14, 2010
Lets hope it stays that way.
Andrew Tolliver - January 14, 2010
I like the kibbles n bits idea above. Other possibilities include: Dawg Bones or Puppy Treats.
Roger Dorn - January 14, 2010
If the segment did get a name, probably better if it wasn’t named after a trademarked brand name, e.g. Kibbles n Bits.
Western Reserve - January 14, 2010
Puppy Treats, haha.
emily522 - January 14, 2010
This one, I like.
golanbatrac - January 14, 2010
Puppy Treats or Around the Pound. Puppy Treats sounds happier haha, but I like both.
emily522 - January 14, 2010
I never used Dawg Bones in the past in an attempt to not interfere with the already-titled website dawgbones.com.
Chris Pokorny - January 14, 2010
Ah, I see. I had never heard of this site.
Roger Dorn - January 14, 2010
I like “Daily Brownie Points”.
talonk - January 14, 2010
or just Brownie Points too
talonk - January 14, 2010
this
JulioBernazard - January 14, 2010
brownie points…just as good as K&B but not trademarked.
bross09 - January 14, 2010
Ha just read rolub’s review on the Stadium and it’s named Brownie Points as well ….. coincidence?
talonk - January 14, 2010
for the record, the title “Brownie Points” wasn’t mine. everything else, including crappy pictures on a 4.1 megapixel camera, were mine.
rolub - January 14, 2010
I’ve considered Brownie Points before; I thought it might sound too obvious and not clever enough. If you guys like it though it can certainly be a candidate.
Chris Pokorny - January 14, 2010
Bone the Dawg
doggrad87 - January 14, 2010
Chris would be getting some really weird google emails if we named it that.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2010
Indeed!
golanbatrac - January 14, 2010
Ha!
RelapsingDawgCatcher - January 14, 2010
I love the Joe Thomas picture above.
With nothing behind him, it just proves that Joe Thomas blocks EVERYTHING.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2010
see the jersey and shoulder pads laying back behind him? the player inside them disintegrated when JT laid hands on him. he’s that good.
Dawg Nuts - January 14, 2010
Poor Hank Fraley. He was a good’un.
golanbatrac - January 14, 2010
He did his best.
Andrew Tolliver - January 14, 2010
i was thinking the same thing…cool pic
rockybrown - January 14, 2010
Dude. SP 4 cancelled? I was hoping for a Carnage/ Venom battle! Oh well. And how does 24 even make sense? One show = One hour, One season= 24 hours. When does this man use the bathroom?
SpecialBrownie - January 14, 2010
or sleep
Roger Dorn - January 14, 2010
that’s in the deleted scenes (down time). on the DVD they release clips of jack bauer taking a leak or eating a McMuffin while walking to a car.
bross09 - January 14, 2010
I stopped watching when his family was kidnapped twice in one season.
That means that his family was kidnapped twice in one day. You have to be the world’s dumbest human to be kidnapped twice in the span of 24 hours.
Bernie19Kosar - January 14, 2010
I was hoping for two more hours of jiggly Kirsten Dunst.
golanbatrac - January 14, 2010
I hope the reboot does the series right, the way the reboot of The Hulk was much better than the first.
notthatnoise - January 14, 2010
During the commercial breaks, of course.
Chemo - January 15, 2010
I like the Idea, and 2 possible name ideas could be:
The Daily Bone or
The Daily Biscuit
I like the Kibbles n Bits part as well, and thought of that too before I read the comments.
North Coast Flea - January 14, 2010
The Daily Chew Toy
Andrew Tolliver - January 15, 2010
names
how about scooby snacks, biscuits&gravy, dawg blawgs, brownie blitz
brownie76 - January 15, 2010
