The Cleveland Browns trimmed their roster down to 52 players Saturday, giving them one free spot to add a player off of waivers.
Today, the team added three players:
The Browns' roster is now at 55 players, so two players will have to be cut. Chances are it won't be an offensive lineman -- could it possibly be a running back? I'd hate to see Jerome Harrison go, and if we didn't cut Jamal Lewis yesterday, why would we do it today? We should have an update soon as to how the Browns handled this situation.
EDIT: With Smith added, I'd imagine either Gerard Lawson or Bret Lockett will get the boot.

There are also reports we have claimed CB DeAngelo Smith.

Thanks; just updated the post with this information.

It could also be Nick Sorensen getting cut. Lockett got some playing time in sub packages with the first team.

how long can we stay at 55 players? do the browns get a chance to bring in all three players and work them out? so, if the tryout doesn’t go well, any of these three could be cut immediately – correct?.

You might want to check your links on this story. They all go to the same place showing a Raven player going through a funbling drill. Just FYI. :)

On Peerman
None of these waiver additions are earth shattering moves although they are an upgrade over the people we let go.
However, let me say this, Peerman is a big tough back.
Got to see him a lot playing for Virginia, where he was their featured back, and he can block and flat bowl over people.
My favorite waiver day story, however, was Detroit’s release of Shaun Smith.

Can bowl over ACC defenders, or NFL defenders?

DeAngelo Smith looks like a good addition, too. Going in the fifth round, teams must have thought he had potential.
Still wish we had grabbed RB Rashad Jennings in the draft.
I also bet we’re still on the lookout for another RT.
