The Cleveland Browns waived/injured WR Syndric Steptoe, which is the same thing the team did to DB Don Carey a week or so ago. I believe I now understand what this means, after hearing about Carey's situation. If Steptoe clears waivers, he will then revert to the Browns' injured reserve list. We could have placed him on the injured reserve list right away instead, but for training camp rosters, he still would have counted toward the 80-man limit. If he clears waivers, he would not count toward that limit.
With Steptoe out of the way, replacing him is WR Edward Williams, a former member of the Baltimore Ravens. At 6'4" and 215 pounds, Williams has some height on him. He played college at Lane.

his height alone intrigues me into liking this new WR!

I read over on the ABJ blogs that he’s 26 years old already, and a reason for that being he had about a 3-4 gap between playing high school football and college football.

he wont be around long

although that isnt ideal, i dont see that as a huge obsticle. I mean with me it depends on the reason. For instince, many football players have not played in a few years cause they were playing pro baseball and vise versa. Richard Bartel is under the same category as well as David Booty and joe bauserman, Backup QB on OSU.

I would’nt care if he was 36 he would still be an upgrade over Steptoe

Didn’t we waive Steptoe a while ago with the Jags claiming him?

Carey.

Duh. My bad. The “waived injured” tag had me mixed up.

For some reason when I saw the headline the only words I saw were:
Roster moves: WR Edwards Waived.
Chill.

Such an act might actually constitute criminal misconduct.

Steptoe needed to keep his mouth shut to the press. It’s CLEVELAND. It RAINS. ALOT. It really wasn’t raining to the point where it was a significant injury risk to the players, either. It happened. Injuries happen…we deal with it.
I LOVE how Mangini isn’t putting up with any crap…He doesn’t have to be Tom Coughlin and go completely overboard, but he needs to establish the tone this year, and then relax a little once he’s got everyone who wants to be there on board. I think that’s his plan. You KNEW they were gonna bitch after dealing with Romeo’s preseason spa and salon practices the last few years…Regardless of talent level, I think it was apparent that in years past this team had a few guys who mailed it in on the field.
Here’s hoping we see alot of improvement in that aspect…

It is pretty disappointing to hear about guys who are tiring of Mangini already. The better you do, the more games the Browns win, the bigger your paychecks, the more endorsements you get, etc. etc. Just suck it up for a month or so during camp and be a pro.
Rub some dirt on it and take a salt tablet.

Steptoe is from Zona, where it doesnt rain
