A little background on Robo:
Robiskie appeared in nine games during his true freshman season in 2005 making his biggest impact on special teams. He started five of the 13 games he appeared in during the 2006 season finishing with 29 catches, 383 receiving yards and five touchdown-catches. Robiskie started all 13 games of the 2007 season finishing with 55 catches, 935 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns. He also returned seven punts for a total of 60 yards. Robiskie appeared in all 13 games (12 starts) in 2008 catching 42 passes for a total of 535 yards and eight touchdowns. He also returns four punts for a total of 17 yards.
Simplified scouting report:
Another quiet pick from the Browns. I like Robo, but again would rather have had him a little later in the draft. He definitely fits the "football player" mold that Mangini wants. If he plays the Joe J. role and our offense returns to form, this pick looks a whole lot better. At the moment, I have to question why Rey Maualuga is still on the board AND why we haven't chosen a linebacker yet. More as the story unfolds...

No I did not. At the end of the day, I would say we were “solid”. The four picks seem to fit the ManKok mold of strong, tough, “football players” who deliver substance over flash and style. I am really high on Veikune, and if I wasn’t, I would be pretty disappointed.
I think Robo went too high. If he comes in and plays the Jurevicious role, I might be singing a different tune.

What was that?
I was OK with the initial trade of #5. And I didn’t mind dropping back further for additional picks as long as Matthews, Maualuga, and Brown were available. The pick of a center kind of stunned me, but pick #36 had to be Maualuga or Brown. And they would have been a 2nd round steal.
Not doubting that Robiskie is a solid player, but we needed a defensive player with an attitude.

I love Mack. I wonder if we may have reached for him, but if we got the player that I think we did in Mack, I won’t care if we reached on him. With Mack the Browns don’t have to worry about LT, LG and C for the next five years.
I am not a fan of Robo at 36. I think that Rey Maualuga would have been an awesome choice for this defense. We needed a guy to play with his hair on fire next to DQJ. I think that Robo is a finished product and has hit his ceiling. I hope that I am wrong and Robo does some big things for us this year. He should walk in the door and be our #2 WR.
MM was a nice pick and I think that he has some real nice upside. He gets the “drops” at times but is a nice player with good size. I don’t understand why we went WR-WR in the second round. We could have added a WR later in the draft but maybe Mankok saw such value and choose to go value over need. I think this sets up a Braylon Edwards move after this offseason if he decides that he wants out of Cleveland.
Veikune to me was a bit of an unknown. He seems to have all the tools. I would have liked Micheal Johnson from GT, but at this point in the draft any pass rusher was a nice addition. I am not sure that Veikune could be an everydown player or a pass rush specialist.

As I told the editor from Winnipeg; Although I punted a 5.63 second hang time punt at the Stampeders 2009 tryout and a 5.9 sec. 52 yarder, wind aided, timed by two witnesses two days prior (hang times only produced by a small number of current NFL punters such as Shane Lechler, Andy Lee, Mike Scifres, Matt Turk … and yet its likely none of them have hit a 6.0 this year, … with passing skills that are still above and beyond all other punters), I’m getting attention, but not the serious attention I’m looking for… Since the Blue Bombers refused to allow me to tryout in Deland this year…It looks like I’ll have to come back next year for both the NFL and CFL open camps, with a record breaking, mind blowing, semi-consistent 6.0-6.2 sec. hang time punts and we’ll see what happens…
