The Cleveland Browns promoted running back Allen Patrick from the practice squad Thursday, bumping tight end Jed Collins down to the practice squad in the process. Patrick has been on the Browns' practice squad for the past 13 weeks, and had originally been with the Baltimore Ravens in training camp.
The promotion was likely made due to Jerome Harrison's nagging hamstring injury. Now, if Crennel suddenly gives Patrick a ton of carries this Monday night, I will be fuming again, simply because it'd be another "slap in the face" to Harrison (who hasn't been utilized enough all season).
With that said, will Crennel's philosophy change regarding the playing time his rookies receive? Apparantly not. This week, Crennel cares about winning.
"We're going to look to try to win a game," Crennel said. "That's why you coach. Now, if a younger guy gives you a chance to win, then you can do that and you can maybe try to mix him in to maybe try to give him a play or two.
"...you can do that and you can maybe try to mix him into maybe try..."
Buffoon.
"Part of the problem is getting them [rookies] into the games when it counts," Crennel said.
I'm literally speechless here folks...maybe my friend to the right can convey my feeling a little bit better.

This is the one good argument for firing a coach mid-season. I normally would be against it, but if it’s a detriment to the development of your team in the future, then I think you have to consider giving him the axe right now.

Great point. I feel the same way. He really has no clue what’s going on. I agree that you want to win the game, but saying that the problem is getting rookies in the game when it counts? NONE OF OUR GAMES COUNT ANY MORE!! Why the hell did we even have a draft this year? We’re not playing anybody.
If Crennel won’t give Bell, Rucker, Harrison, Hall, etc. a chance to play, then let him go and give the job to someone who will. It’s all about 2009 now.

"chances"
I’m tired of hearing coach crennel always talking about his “chances”. I hope the next coach, rather than talk about “chances”, uses positive lingo like “opportunity”. Like I’ve got a chance to win at a slot machine, but since I have talent, I have an “opportunity” to win a football game.

So we are trying to win games NOW?
Could have fooled me.

Wow Chris, I think this is the most animated you’ve ever gotten about old Romeo the Hutt.

Yeah, I tried to act a little more dramatic than usual to make up for my absence of posting throughout the week. A method to the madness ;)

So you can’t work them into a game when it there’s a chance you could win, even though the season is down the toilet? Trust me Romeo, you’re gone. We’re so bad right now, we might even lose to the freaking Bengals. I hope you’re gone the night of the Steelers game when you get blown out by the Pittsburgh backups. You came in riding Belicheck’s coat tails, you should leave riding a bus.

You have to wonder if Romeo is truly this inept, or is just yanking everyones chain. I will go with inept. It is amazing this man got hired. From day one I didn’t want him here, but never in my life I thought it would be this bad.
What is the over/under for fans at the Bengals game?

So Chris, are you worried about my 25-point lead coming in to this weekend? Because you shoud be.
Buckeye Brad - December 13, 2008
I couldn’t believe two things…
-No one else had picked up Pierre Thomas.
-My opponent (you) had to be the guy to pick him up when he scores two touchdowns.
Fear not, hopefully, as my players will overcome this adversity!
